  1. I think for me retro is kind of two generations of hardware back at least. Like Dreamcast is definetly retro for me now. As well as GC. PS2 had a long life, but it's rolling into retro territory as well. I alsmot feel like the games I started with in the 2600 era should be called classic gaming or something. But as a good thumb rule I kind of like two generations back as a measurement.mor maybe 10 to 15 years. Stuff from last generation is still on the shelves so gotta go back at least two hardware cycles.
  2. I remember this magazine. It didn't last very long but was memorable for being large format like Newtyoe USA. I want to say it didn't last beyond the dot com bubble collapse of 99. But I'm not 109 percent.
  3. What! I had that issue. It's probrably still at my parents house or thrown away. That make me sick.
  4. I agree I PMed with some arguments eigther way. Just decide one way or another so I can get it Top Score August 1989 uploaded to the site.
  5. That's outrageous prices. There will come cheaper prices I'm sure.
  6. Top Score August 1989 is finished! Until there is a database entry for me to upload to you can grab it here temporarily. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lghslyhs8de1y1u/Top%20Score%20August%201989.cbz?dl=0 Its a short 36 page issue with tips and a short article on game counselors at third party company's. This came out shortly after or concurrently with EGM 1. But after the 1989 buyers guide (Or EGM 0) I think this was a transition period where EGM was still trying to figure out what they were going to do. Steve Harris had a Top Score Newsletter he did for the American Players Association that this is kind of a continuation of. While EGM kind of was a continuation of the magazine he did after Top Score, Game Players. Both Top Score and Game Players contributed design elements that carried over to EGM. There was one more attempt at a Top Score that was published as issue 7 of EGM. Which I scanned previously. So this magazine is by Sendai and the makers of EGM, but not numbered as an official EGM issue. And kind of sits lonely in the middle of the older Top Score Newsletter and EGM.
  7. Well I was outbid. So no loss I suppose. I wasn't going to bid much over asking when these were already preserved.
  8. LOL. Man that place was the funniest place. I go in and there is just a couch and a white sheet and some instructions and a sink. So I see something kind of poking out on the side of the couch covered up. I pull of the cloth and it's a bunch of porn mags. Lol. It's like the weren't going to tell you about them and hide them, but if you want to look well here you go.
  9. EGM did attempt to go digital. In the early 2000's they started digital subscriptions on Zinio (?). I switched to that. But I regretted it. The quality was horrible. And it was all DRMed. Very inconvenient. I mean I was expecting at least decent scan quality. It was so bad you couldn't see some small print. And that's when I just stopped subscribing to EGM.
  10. Ya scan the last 4 pages of 86. And eday can post that issue! I knew you were likely to have it. Also I'll be posting a list of some flawed pages with stuff cut out from the scans we have shortly in a week or two . Hopefully you can grab some of those as well.
  11. I really do think the Internet. Circulation died off and they couldn't survive. It just wasn't the main way people got their news about games anymore. And you can provide so much more content on the internet like video. Plus get news basically hourly instead on monthly. I'm sure there was some mismanagement and greed from major publishing companies as well. Like if the original groups had held onto magazines they may have survived. But when major magazine players bought up mags like Ziff Davis they wanted to squeez them for dollars instead of putting out a quality magazine. And when the magazine market dropped out they dropped magazines.
  12. Know what would be cool, mid you could ever run across the digital files sent to the printer for the magazine masters, That would make preservation a hell of a lot easier. I bet no one ever saved those.
  13. Ya I was the one who sent that issue 86 . I have it on my watch list on eBay so when it comes up I'll get it. You can ask VG Bounce House as well he seems to have a lot of the EGM's and would probrably scan those 4 pages for you. Just wanted to make sure. I have a good copy now of 32 so I'll do that. Just didn't want to do extra work if you had most of done 5 years ago or something.
  14. It was my favorite PC hardware focused magazine. Greatly helped me with buying decisions.
  15. You are not helping lol.n Ultimately I'm slowly downloading a few issues a day of our EGMs. When I get them all, I'm going to make a list of scans that need work or are not complete. Not having inserts that were with every issue is not a deal breaker, pursuing that would be madness. Especially with issues that have great scans already. But going through the ones we have, I have already identified some poor quality issues we are hosting, whether it's unedited crooked page scans, pages missing and cut out, out of order pages, or just really worn looking. I've found some of all. As well minor things like naming conventions not being the same (Including the file names of the 3 EGM's I submitted , oops) and the retromags credit page being on the front , thus obscuring the cover image in CBR readers on a few older scans. I'd ultimately like to make a list and fix all of them, and give us a complete (as possible) and high quality set of EGM scans. Although I will say the majority of the stuff is great. Making the problem issues really stand out. So these issues I guess are insurance against the copy's I haven't got to checking yet.
  16. All right I pulled the trigger. As soon as I download those issues, I can compare them to what we have. Worst case I can resell them individually and make my money back. Sealed issues ought to be worth something.
  17. I never knew there was a demand for Maximum PC. Being a hardware oriented magazine, I threw all of mine out years ago in the recycle bin. And most of the demo disks as well. Oops. They didn't seem to be worth anything.
  18. If you still have this I don't know what kind of progress you made on EGM 32. But I recently picked this up for scanning. I can get the pages you need uploaded to Drop Box. If you haven't done anything on this I can just scan from scratch.
  19. I am pretty sure that's fixable. Straight lines not too hard to fix on the UPC. And Blue border the same.
