  1. I thought about the region, but then why would it have the same UPC and prices only for US and Canada?
  2. Can anyone explain this cover variant? On the left is a photo of the cover of PC Accelerator issue 06 with the standard name and title that I grabbed from the recent eBay auctions, nothing unusual. But on the right is the copy I scanned, something I bought in a group auction earlier this year. I originally had no idea it was PC Accelerator. I thought it was some magazine called "PC Action" that I had never heard before, but as you can see it's identical to PC Accelerator in every respect except for the title. It even has the same barcode and UPC. The words "PC ACCELERATOR SPECIAL ISSUE" do appear in small text underneath the barcode on the right image where it does not in the left image, but I can't find anything in the issue that describes why it's special. The editor's column said they changed to a higher quality paper stock (it is nice). The "on the cover section" has the standard appearance, as you can see. So any ideas? Maybe it was sold at a convention or something? I suppose I could ask the guy who sold it to me.
  3. Kiwi mentioned once that the way he gets it to work on Windows is writing a batch file with predetermined generic filenames, renaming the scanned images to match the names in the batch file using a bulk renamer, then renaming them back when they've finished processing. It's a little slow, but you can do something else while it's processing, and in the end it's a lot faster than doing each page manually. Besides, weren't you the one who said he was going through issues of EGM we already have uploaded and straightening them out? This deskew utility would help a LOT, I imagine. http://galfar.vevb.net/wp/tag/deskew/
  4. Are you manually straightening pages or did you ever get that batch deskew utility to work? Without it I'd definitely be going a lot slower.
  5. They're all kinds of funny bitter references to their demise in the final issue. I meant the part where they said they don't give a shit if we scan and distribute issues of PC Accelerator. It's like they knew we were going to be here someday preserving it, hoping we would.
  6. Aww shucks Did you guys notice this in the fine print of the final issue of PCXL? They knew this day would come!
  7. GMR IS DONE All alternate covers confirmed! Now going to work on PCXL. Since I'm missing issues 1 and 2, I figure I'll start backwards from the final issue and maybe with some stroke of luck we'll finish with those two! I'd like to find out who took away issue 2 for $80. :/
