  1. On my Mac with a program called Simple Comic, although I have to say I spend so much time editing that I don't get much reading done. I figure next year, after I've scanned and edited a whole bunch of mags I'll buy a second generation iPad Pro as a reward and read through everything I scanned.
  2. Yeah, I suppose. There are already a couple scans on ADO but Phillyman wanted a scan from a Retromags user so we could officially complete the Official Dreamcast collection here. Do you have a physical copy? Last one I saw on eBay went for about 50 bucks.

"The Metal Issue," with alternate cover included at the end of the archive.
  5. Retromags Presents! GMR Issue 02 March 2003 Database Entry! Download Directly!
  6. 386 downloads

    Xenosaga!
  7. Woo! Let's see if I can add an issue a day until GMR is complete. I should even have all the alternate covers.
  8. Retromags Presents! GMR Issue 01 February 2003 Database Entry! Download Directly!
  9. 473 downloads

    The Premier Issue of GMR.
  10. ISSUE NUMBER ONE OF GMR, BITCHES! No category in the download section for this magazine, either, but the database has been updated with my ADO download link.
  11. I also scanned and finished editing an issue. https://archive.org/details/PCGamer09Feb1995 I haven't uploaded it here yet because there's no category for it in the downloads section.
  12. I used the database here, which lists the very first issue as "May/June" followed by issue 02 as "July" and monthly from then on. http://www.retromags.com/magazines/category/usa/pc-gamer/
  13. And issue 11 as well. That completes the entirety of my PCXL collection. Everything I have has been scanned, edited, and uploaded. Here is the update status list with links. PCXL 01 (09/98) (acquired by VGBounceHouse) PCXL 02 (10/98) (missing) PCXL 03 (11/98) (missing) PCXL 04 (12/98) PCXL 05 (01/99) PCXL 06 (02/99) PCXL 07 (03/99) PCXL 08 (04/99) PCXL 09 (05/99) PCXL 10 (06/99) PCXL 11 (07/99) PCXL 12 (08/99) (missing) PCXL 13 (09/99) PCXL 14 (10/99) (acquired by VGBounceHouse) PCXL 15 (11/99) PCXL 16 (12/99) PCXL 17 (01/00) (missing) PCXL 18 (02/00) PCXL 19 (03/00) PCXL 20 (04/00) PCXL 21 (05/00) PCXL 22 (06/00)
  14. Alright. I feel lucky to be completely oblivious to these past conflicts, so I will not inquire into them. Differing methodologies are great, diversity's great, I'm on board with all that. As far as I'm concerned that's a good enough reason. I'll keep scanning and keep contributing to whoever will give my work a nice home. Speaking of which, check the PC Accelerator thread for more scans.
  15. Based on the number of views my ADO post had for it unedited there's considerable interest in PC Gamer, followed by Computer Gaming World. I've been meaning to ask you. You've shared your scans of PC Gamer here before and technically you're a Retromags team member. Do you ever consider updating the database here to add links to your download page and marking those issues as "preserved?" Or would you allow someone else like me to do it? As long as it fits in the Retromags rules and you don't object to it.
  16. I edited that issue of PC Gamer I scanned, but there doesn't appear to be a category for PC Gamer in the downloads section here at Retromags. Until then it'll be over at archive.org. I still uploaded the cover for the gallery here, though, and updated the database. https://archive.org/details/PCGamer09Feb1995 I'll get to work on those other two issues of PCXL I have.
  17. Retromags Presents! Next Generation Issue 24 December 1996 Database Entry! Download Directly!
  18. 754 downloads

Next Generation rates the fighters in the console wars of holiday 1996.
  19. Oh hey! You're right! Now that I compare them I notice that the printing was a bit blurry by comparison in my copy of that issue, but it will certainly suffice for release. Good thinking. I'll just have to look forward to VG's release for the possibility of something better. Here is issue 22, then: That completes the PC Accelerator scans that I uploaded unedited before. I have two more issues that I haven't scanned yet. In lieu of database entries I'll simply list the issues here and their status so far. Preserved issues have links. PCXL 01 (09/98) (acquired by VGBounceHouse) PCXL 02 (10/98) (missing) PCXL 03 (11/98) (missing) PCXL 04 (12/98) PCXL 05 (01/99) PCXL 06 (02/99) PCXL 07 (03/99) PCXL 08 (04/99) PCXL 09 (05/99) PCXL 10 (06/99) (scanning) PCXL 11 (07/99) (scanning) PCXL 12 (08/99) (missing) PCXL 13 (09/99) PCXL 14 (10/99) (acquired by VGBounceHouse) PCXL 15 (11/99) PCXL 16 (12/99) PCXL 17 (01/00) (missing) PCXL 18 (02/00) PCXL 19 (03/00) PCXL 20 (04/00) PCXL 21 (05/00) PCXL 22 (06/00)
  20. I have that issue scanned as well and just finished editing, but page 83 is all messed up. I was wondering if you'd be willing to share your scan of page 83 with me. It's an ad page for Imperium Galactica II. It's my own fault. I threw the issue away after I scanned it believing I had a good scan, but I should've known better, that I can't catch everything after only one look. Some ad pages look messed up anyways, y'know?
  21. I use the Mac version with Automator. I wish I could be of help for Windows. Anyway mine looks something like this: I haven't moved the deskew utility from my downloads folder so that's the path. With this setup I can right-click on any selection of images in the Finder and deskew them to BMP files in the same folder (the Mac version of deskew won't save as TIF for some reason and it's faster to edit uncompressed images). It's a little slow but it seems to work perfectly for text pages. It's just the errant ad page that you have to manually straighten.
  22. Thanks Retro! Have you tried that auto deskew utility I mentioned? I don't think I'll be uploading any more unedited scans like that, now that editing is pretty straightforward (no pun intended). Manually straightening every page was just killing me.
