  1. Of course I will respect the wishes of magazine creators and their property. That is why I'm here, to return property being lost to history, inattention, and indifference. I'll listen for official word.
  2. Spending the day ripping PC Accelerator discs and scanning their covers. Going to make a trip later to someone who can repair scratches on my Next Generation discs.
  3. I got those 8 issues of Incite for a dollar! Maybe there's a reason that magazine never took off. Expert Gamer for a dollar as well. The issues of Dimension 3 were 15 dollars, which I bid a few dollars more on because they seemed very rare and interesting, and from my favorite era of gaming. I made a bid on Game On! but lost. I've seen a few more Game On! auctions go up so those should be less difficult to find. I have the issue with Dural on the cover. I should scan that next.
  4. More from that magazine that can't figure out its own name, issue 16 from April 1995, when it was called Electronic Entertainment, or "E2" for short. https://archive.org/details/ElectronicEntertainment16Apr1995 Complete with disc! https://archive.org/details/ElectronicEntertainment16Apr1995Disc
  5. Next Generation magazine issue 23 November 1996. https://archive.org/details/NextGeneration23Nov1996 What's so special about Next Generation issue 23? It was the first issue to come with a disc! Filled with QuickTime movies of gameplay videos, previews, and game demos all packaged in a multimedia presentation. And you can find it here! https://archive.org/details/NextGeneration23Nov1996Disc Future discs contained features and interviews with members of the game industry. I have almost all of the discs and will be uploading them as well.
  6. Okay, here you go. PLAY Magazine Issue 12 December 2002. I have several more from 2002 and other years that I need to sort.
  7. I haven't made any bids yet. Thank you for reminding me. I've been buying other auctions over the past few weeks so my funds are spread pretty thin, but I will make low level bids on Incite, Dimension 3, Game On!, and Expert Gamer if no one else does.
  8. I scanned 2002 issue of PLAY today, but I want to rescan a few pages because some intermittent dirt lines appeared. I actually put on a pair of latex-free cleaning gloves, like the kind archivists make people wear when they examine medieval books, and started going through it page by page wiping it with a dry sponge brush to remove small particles. I got about halfway until I started getting impatient and thought the issue looked pretty good and didn't need that kind of attention. Who knows if it really helped? Maybe I don't need to brush the pages, but I'll keep the gloves.
  9. Here is the disc that came with PC Entertainment 28. I always loved the difference in length between the Mac and PC instructions on the disc label. https://archive.org/details/PCENTERTAINMENT28
  10. I don't know why I thought it was okay to clean with a black lint-free cloth. I tried to buy the highest quality I could and it just came in black. I switched to a white lint-free cloth and then I truly saw how much residue I was pulling off. Holy jesus.
  11. Here's an issue of PC Entertainment (formerly called "Electronic Entertainment," eventually called "PC Games," and eventually absorbed into PC Gamer). https://archive.org/details/PCEntertainment28Apr1996 I scanned a couple issues of GMR but evidently they were a bit dirty since I had to keep cleaning the scanner after every 10 pages or so. I wanted to get something done so I went into my stock of magazines still sealed in their plastic wrap. Yeah! This issue of PC Entertainment came clean out of its original plastic bag, which bundled it with a multimedia CD-ROM. The seal wasn't hermetic. The ink shows a small amount of fading, but still excellent. After scanning a bunch of used mags it was really nice to watch a "new" magazine go clean through the scanner. I'm uploading the disc right now, but archive.org seems to slow down its upload speed at night. I'll post the link tomorrow.
  12. Good catch! I didn't realize there were only nine. Is anyone interested? I could certainly make a low end bid, if no one else wants it or has it already.
  13. Last issue of Official Sega Dreamcast.
  14. You guys might want to keep an eye on this seller. He has an enormous collection and is selling it off in pieces with auctions that start at 0.99. http://www.ebay.com/sch/billmarioman/m.html?item=381266196732&hash=item58c53c78fc&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Right now he has Atari Age, Sega Power, VG&CE, and some trade publications and newsletters, like Atari Owner's Club Bulletin, Activision Newsletter, and Games People Play, as well as some other more obscure magazines like Dimension 3 and Game Go. There's Future Play and Game On. He showed me some pictures of his collection and even if he sold magazines at this rate it would last years, so keep an eye on him!
  15. Fewer pages in Issue 11 means I could bump the vertical resolution to 2800. There really is a noticeable effect on pages with small legal text. This one should look near perfect.
