  1. "Why did you buy a computer?" I love how she asks that question. This video is great! I didn't even know some of this technology existed back then. Download software through a television broadcast? That must have seemed wild. Also, Jane is a cutie.
  2. Yeah but all the magazines I've seen them host are at least cropped so, who knows?
  3. Looks interesting. I could scan them for you and throw the unedited scans up on my archive.org page, but they won't be on Retromags until they are cropped and straightened, which I'm not committed to doing for the foreseeable future. I actually still do some edits, like removing debris lines, but as far as making them look really nice and presentable, I try to pass that along to others when I can and focus on scanning, which I find hard to find time for as it is. Maybe someone at SegaRetro will edit them before taking the scans for their site.
  4. I more personally identify with a lot of other music, but if we're talking about coming out to beat someone up, then…
  5. Well I'll be damned, it was right on the cover the whole time. I just missed it because it was so small and I naturally expect issue numbers to be much larger.
  6. Where exactly is it marked? I'm having trouble seeing this.
  7. Oh no, I wasn't quoting shipping price to Japan. It looked like they were using the automatic shipping calculator so that it gave different prices to people based on location, and for my location in Arizona it was over $16, which is just silly.
  8. $7.35 to Japan? Are you sure you don't have an old address on your ebay account? lol
  9. Sorry about that. The auction seemed really fishy to me, though. A seller with zero ratings and a shipping cost of $16+ for one magazine? IDK.
  10. Vol 2 No 2 was just on eBay recently and was titled "Game Player's PC Strategy Guide" Ebay Item #152206821375
  11. I include them in my uploads, when I have them. For example all the alternate covers for GMR are included in the uploads.
  12. That's right, I forgot to mention the numbering issue. They started with an unnumbered premiere issue followed by a numbered issue one, but they corrected it a few issues later by skipping a number, so that the number matched the number of issues. You shouldn't feel that you need to edit all these!
  13. Bumping this thread for the newcomers. You don't have to donate to earn patron status! You can help edit these scans.
  14. 22 more issues (about 2,500 pages) of PLAY have been uploaded unedited. https://archive.org/details/UneditedPLAY_marktrade A few of them had posters that I will get to later but tbh you’re not missing much. I have yet to find a magazine poster that impressed me and thought was worth the trouble of scanning. Maybe I’ll take a photo. >_> There is an issue with a couple of the back cover pages where the glue would catch on the scanner glass and result in a distortion in the lower portion of the page. This can’t be helped. I ran the pages through multiple times with the same results. The good news however is that the distortion is not that large and does not destroy any real information. A skilled person could correct it in Photoshop.
  15. That actually is much cheaper than some other offers I've seen. I'm sure the auction will sell for much higher.
  16. Thirteen more issues have been uploaded for editing. https://archive.org/details/UneditedPCGamer_marktrade
  17. I've added thirteen more issues (2,500 pages) of PC Gamer for editing. https://archive.org/details/UneditedPCGamer_marktrade They were a real pain to scan because they had sooo many fold out pages. One of the reasons it took so long. I've got a big batch of PLAY coming up next.
  18. I am sorry for the delay but I have been playing massive amounts of Pokémon Go and getting into better physical shape as well! Sitting around scanning and editing magazines is a lot of physical inactivity and that can take its toll. I will do some work tonight.
  19. That's interesting. I thought it started at 56 because it was spun off from "Video Games & Computer Entertainment" which ends at issue 55. Is that not the case?
  20. I checked the letters section of the next four issues and nothing. Good idea to check Edge, though. I haven't tried that yet.
  21. Most of the UK magazines are up now. There's a couple random ones left I set aside because they didn't fit with the rest. Will get to them eventually. Right now I'm working on de-binding about 60 issues of PLAY and PC Gamer to get them off my shelves and make room for all the other magazines I've been silly enough to buy. >_< The PLAY issues are particularly troublesome because they once included posters and the original owners decided to best way to remove the posters was to slice into the pages with a knife, so many of the pages are not separating cleanly at the spine. I have multiple copies of several issues and will choose the best one but they're not easy to filter out before-hand because the cuts are in the gutter. Would be nice to find issues with posters but based on what I've seen from eBay this past year it's both rare and expensive.
  22. I'd be interested in those scans, RetroDefense. I'll be on the lookout for another copy of issue 23 but I'd be interested if you or anyone else finds a copy of the non-CD issue as well. I'd also like to check the misprint on page 42, which contains duplicated text in the special on RAM (the main body text duplicated from page 39). Did anyone see "The Big Sleep" with Humphrey Bogart when he goes into that book store front and grills the lady behind the counter about a Ben-Hur 1860 "with duplications?" I feel I'm turning into him.
