I really think this is more of a confession kind of thing of wanting to see them as a potential lover rather than reciprocal expectations. Any time I confessed to someone, it was to make my feelings known as to change the dynamic going forward even if it meant "I'm sorry, not interested." It at least put an end to it. I don't think anyone really is in love when they do this. They are just infatuated or crush as you put it. This is my experience though as I can't speak for others. Of course you can shake your head if you want. I am not saying in the slightest what he is doing is normal at all. This is more than likely a broken down man with a social anxiety issues or more. I'm just saying he didn't get there overnight. He just stopped trying after failing several times.

I imagine those confessions were something that took the course of his life like in school and such. Did you never have a crush or confess to a girl before without getting to know them all that well? We don't know the details of what happened during those rejections. It could be out of the blue like you said or it could be more complicated. It states he was 41 at the time of the article so he is a different generation plus from the current ones so I can't speak to why Japan is the way it is now for the article you linked but it's not like it is any different from the past where a slue of people of both genders would rather go to host/hostess clubs than ask somebody out in Japan in my opinion. Again, I don't know.

"According to Kondo, he confessed his love seven times, but was rejected on each occasion. In addition, he recalled he was laughed at and bullied for being an otaku....Upon being bullied at work, Miku took an extended sick leave and was diagnosed with adjustment disorder" They should be glad he didn't turn into the Joker.

I would agree but several of their popular games like Armored Core VI Sekiro, Dark Souls, and Elden Ring were released for PC as well. A look on their home webpage and Bloodborne is the only exclusive banner there. Those sold well so I don't know why they would choose not to do the one with the most popularity. Conversely, because it is the most popular? Majority stakeholder Kadokawa, I am sure would have a say if they felt it could bring good business. Even a limited exclusive should have been appealable to Sony. They know there was demand from fans several years later. The specific emulator I mentioned for PS4 is basically is known for getting Bloodborne to a playable level with some tweaks. At least that's how I came to know of it.

Surprised you didn't speak about the history of キャッチコピー or taglines in games this issue cover. I knew in the past, it was fairly important in marketing that could make or break the game or system. Not too sure now in the digital age. I remember hearing the original Xbox in Japan having a poor one like Jump in 飛び込む or something and critics used that as a reason for poor sales of their hardware.

Dengeki PlayStation Vol.112 (July 9, 1999)

I don't disagree with most of what you said and I appreciate the debate. But to add to one point: This is becoming more difficult in my opinion recently as seen by games that try to toe the line too much with certain things that they create an unwanted backlash. I think of games like Concord which costs Sony hundreds of millions of dollars. -

People can be offended, nobody is stopping them from being. However, just because they are offended shouldn't mean it should stop other people from enjoying something they find non-offensive. Of course I am just talking about media. Whatever thing happens in media or art should not be be used as an excuse or to fuel real-life crimes. That goes for sex and violence. Art shouldn't really have boundaries as it isn't real and there are no victims as you said, despite how very twisted and offensive it can be. I disagree with Japan's anti-same-sex marriage law, but let's not act like the G7 is some group of saints. -

Trust me, learning Japanese lead me down some rabbit holes to say the least lol. When I went to Japan last year for the first time, I wasn't surprised by all the 18+ games and stuff in electronic areas like Akiba, etc because I expected it. I don't really think it is a big deal honestly though there probably are no doubt plenty of pearl clutchers.

Although, there still is a Puritanical perspective on sex and nudity here, I don't know if that might be the reason why there are delayed downloads. Some people might just be late and/or that grabs their attention. RANT: I hate how anytime a small majority complains with their views on it, it affects gaming. Don't like nudity, here we'll cover it up. God forbid women can't show off their sex appeal. Don't like hitting any other than men, here we'll change the character to a different person. You still okay the overall murder and violence though? Those are just a few examples and it still pisses me off they had to do PR for it to please the shrieking ones. As long as it something like a video game and not actual people hurting anyone, if you don't like it, leave it be. They have to ruin it for everyone.

It's pretty awesome much you have contributed to Japanese gaming magazine conservation. As someone who grew up around the time of golden Nintendo Power era, I always wondered what the Japanese magazines were like but didn't know a way to get them or they were probably way too expensive. Anyway, thanks for all you have done and hopefully will continue do so.
