Oh, I removed my copy since I don't like duplication.

The Super Castlevania guidebook should include some reference to Hippon Super, so we know it's part of that magazine. If that mag is ever scanned, we can include all of them together. Not sure how many other guidebooks Hippon Super made.
-
I don't know how to forward ports or even know what that even means. I used to know what that meant, but I haven't done it since 2004.

Here's a "cracked" version of PD. PD normally requires that you download a certain amount of "unity" to share with others before you can download or search, but this should let you set any GB amount you want. For how to use it, just google "perfect dark tutorial" and "perfect dark nodes" for the rest. You'll probably need to forward your port too. I have not personally tried it. https://mega.nz/#!F0xAkK7a!PP4xTBGBYx9rwgibSyFaL7NxaV4CkLBdhp9iclFBpwQ

Been uploading a lot of Gamest material. Mook means "Magazine book", and the GM series was a line of strategy guides. Here's a site which lists all of them, there are 197 in the main line, and several more in the Plus line. None of these were scanned by me, it's just stuff I've been finding but as far as I can tell isn't on archive.org. Psychic Force Perfect Guidebook (Gamest Mook EX Vol. 12) Dungeons & Dragons Collection (Gamest Mook EX Vol. 83) Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Gamest Mook Vol. 34) Gamest 125 (Gokujō Parodius special issue) Treasure Gear Perfect Guide Book (Gamest Mook EX series vol. 25) Capcom Illustrations (Gamest Mook Vol. 17) Samurai Spirit illustrations (Gamest Mook World Series Vol. 18) Darius Gaiden (Gamest Mook Vol. 6)

I'm finding things on Japanese manga/book sites, and I've tried finding where they're getting them. Surprisingly, many come from Western scanlation and manga/hentai sites, but others seem pretty mysterious. I think those other ones might be leaked from private JP collections. Have you tried the Perfect Dark (P2P program)? Supposedly a Japanese P2P program and might have some things on there.

Found it in a collection of Parodius Japanese guide books. A lot of the special issues of Gamest and the later Gamest Mook (GM) series have already been scanned by various people over the years. Issue 64 was SFII, and Issue 106 was Fatal Fury. The scans are pretty good, but when this project gets to these issues they'll be scanned in even higher quality.
-
Relevant for this thread, I found Gamest Issue #125 and uploaded it to archive. This issue came with a poster which I don't believe is scanned. I believe this is a regular issue of Gamest much in the same way the previous SFII issue was dedicated to one game. I think later one they spun these issues off into the "Gamest Mook" line. If you check archive there's other issues of Gamest and Gamest mook floating around archive. https://archive.org/details/Gamest125Gokujuparodiusspecialissue

Thank you! That is quite the resource. Famitsu's database lists the game as having been reviewed in issue 326, meaning the preview/ad is from 316/317. Related, but there's another free floating Famitsu preview I want to find the issue for. This is for the oddly titled Linkle Liver Story. Unrelated, but there is a similar site which catalogue's all of Gamest's content. These sites should be archived and translated.

The tweet has been deleted, but it is archived. The guy who posted it has a huge collection, and periodically posts scans from famitsu he finds interesting. https://web.archive.org/web/20180814142426/https://twitter.com/gt198x/status/709580017986981889

Is there interest in Japanese official strategy guides?
JonnyCGood replied to Lacero's topic in Magazine Talk
High on my Japanese guidebook wishlist would be the Konami Official Guides for Silent Hill games. As far as I know, only the Play Novel one has been scanned. Here is a list of them: http://www.silenthillmemories.net/publications/guides_en.htm -
Ha! I was about to upload that. We have a lot of the same books. Be sure to check my uploads so we don't end up uploading the same things. Also, the guidebook is part of a series called "All About" published by MICRO. I've only seen their Dark Stalkers guide.

None of these were scanned by me, but as far as I know none of these are on Archive. 1.Street Fighter Collection Official Guidebook: The Ultimate Arts Capcom's Official Guidebook for their 1997 PS/SS ports of Street Fighter II. 2.Die Welt Von Panzer Dragoon Zwei Artbook for Panzer Dragoon Zwei. 3.Final Fantasy III Volume 3 Complete Capture Edition Square Guidebook for FFIII. The one for the Famicom. Not quite sure if the title refers to this being the 3rd guide for the game, or the third guide in the series (with guides 1-2 being for the first two games). 4.Final Fantasy I + II Offical Complete Guide Famitsu guidebooks for the PS versions of FF1-2. 5. Final Fantasy Video Graffiti Animation Perfect Guide Artbook for the 1994 Final Fantasy Anime. Yes, it got one, and it's pretty forgettable.

Mail is the name of the main character, likely a reference to chain-mail, giving the idea she's some kind of knight or adventurer. "Popful" or "Pop'n" is a common name in Japanese video games of that era, and seems to describe games with bubbly cute settings and characters. Magical Pop'n (1995), Pop'n Music, Pop'n Magic, etc. I'm guessing this is a reference to popping bubbles, so cute/sweet. So the title means "Adorable and Sweet Mail".

I have some various Japanese guidebooks and other material on my HDD, so I figured I'd upload them somewhere. As far as I can tell, these aren't anywhere on archive or other sites. Silent Hill Perfect Navigation Book 1999 Guidebook by Famitsu for the game Silent Hill. Konami themselves produced several official guidebooks for the game. The scan quality of this is unfortunately rather poor, but it's mostly readable. If anyone comes across another copy of this, please re-scan it. https://archive.org/details/silenthillperfectnavigationbook Akumajou Dracula All 1991 Guidebook by the magazine Hippon Super for the 1991 "Super Castlevania IV" (known in Japan as "Akumajou Dracula", the same title as the first game in the series). I believe this guide features original artwork exclusive to this guide book. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. https://archive.org/details/Akumajou_Dracula_All

New Release - Family Computer Magazine Issue 056 (May 6, 1988)

Japanese mags are really, really, cool, and a great source of new info. If a game never left Japan, then these mags might be the only things that covered them. -
New Release - Game Player's Issue 07 Volume 2 Number 1 (January 1990)
JonnyCGood replied to E-Day's topic in New Releases
Nice. Was always looking for this one. This has a review of Willow (Famicom), and very few magazines reviewed that game. -
This guy has bought 42 copies of Hippon Super a late 80's ot mid 90's Japanese Gaming magazine. He has made some videos translating some of the developer interviews in the magazine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlMZcDQKy04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXt6nk5bYGM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5zMwOuhyHc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3lvzsbioUI

Yes, huge interest. Japanese guidebooks hold relevant info, are usually pretty gorgeous, and often have developer interviews. -
Do you know which issue of Famitsu and page number this is from? It's likely from issues 316 to 325. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D7MTiQ8XYAAWR-e.jpg:large

Looks like we got them from the same place. The only other thing I have is "Silent Hill Perfect Navigation" guidebook. I'm uploading these more as an experiment than anything, so don't hesitate to upload your copy too. It looks like preview isn't working on mine, so I may delete it. So feel free to re-upload it.
