  1. Guitars and Gaming (2008)

The guitar instrument fad was brief, maybe 5 years in total, but I still think about it a lot.  It introduced me to a lot of music, and it was a great social game.  This standalone magazine came out just before it got over-saturated and died out.  I blame Activision for that, they just released an endless amount of Guitar Hero until everyone was sick of it.  That said, it seemed like retailers we're always upset at the amount of inventory space the instruments took up.  Ironic, considering most of that is Funko Pops now.
Anyways, this is a little curiosity from that time.

Page 125 says this is from the February 2000 issue.  This exists in the original scan from VGHF, as such, I've preserved it.  If it went to print, it's preserved. The opening note from the editor is about an interview they did with Electric Playground; you can watch it here, starting at 13:50 : https://youtu.be/RdslCwaL250?list=PL6uoO3csitWPGNEwxqbjgMp9mm1ab1QF_&t=830.  As the opening image betrays, this episode also has a very young "Jeff Gertzman" winning a NFL Blitz tournament.

  12. Full Throttle Official Player's Guide

Lucasarts made very good adventure games, and this guide goes through it with a fine-toothed comb.
Aside from a hint guide and a step-by-step guide, it has synopsis of the cast, trivia of all sorts, and most interestingly, interviews with people who worked on the game.  I find it interesting that the game making process is always documented so thoroughly on games Tim Schaefer was involved with, and still is, based on the videos on Psychonauts and other Double Fine productions.
