I have gone through MANY issues of GamePro and EGM, sorting out the ads, articles, and reviews that I wanted to keep. And I can confirm that in your average issue that is 200+ pages, I have set-aside 80-90 pages for ads (for both GamePro and EGM) that I would keep for myself, and there was easily 10+ pages of ads I didn't need. I don't know about 50%, but 40% or more is an easily achievable number from what I saw. Both of these would sometimes have three 2-page spreads of ads right next to each other.

The Japanese themselves don't really buy video game consoles that aren't made in Japan, I've heard it's just a cultural thing. It's no secret that Xbox consoles don't sell well in Japan, and I'm NOT talking about just that the sales are low, they are nearly non-existent when it comes to a world-wide scale. The number of Xbox consoles sold in Japan across ALL generations is only 2.3 million units. That includes the Series X/S. The weekly Famitsu issue in 2022 posted the numbers, and gamepur reported it. According to the report, the 360 accounts of 1.6 million of that figure. Japanese developers still do make and release retail games on Xbox, obviously, but they know there is very few Japanese players that will pick them up. Nice sales figures. Thanks for those.

Page numbers are messed up in PDFlite 2.0. Is the Sumatra or YAC reader way better? I was looking for readers that recognized the comic book formats a long time back and PDFlite was one I found. It worked and was free, but so are these others you guys mentioned. I just like scrolling through pages with the mouse wheel.

PC Accelerator Issue 02 (October 1998)
StrykerOfEnyo commented on marktrade's file in PC Accelerator
There's a "Win A Date With the Real Lara Croft" (Nell McAndrew at the time). I hope @Areala saw this content, I believe Ms. Croft is a favorite for them, and there's a lot of coverage for Tomb Raider III. The magazine states, "There is one winner and the rest of you are screwed." PC Accelerator Issue 15 has several photos of Lara (now portrayed by Lara Weller). I wanted to mention them here, so Lara fans didn't need to look up that one too. -
KickStarter - The Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium

From what the Kickstarter says, the Digital Archive will NOT be available for free to the public, so those interested may want to spend the $10 for access. In the Q&A Section it says: "...it's possible that we will we sell access to the Digital Archive at a later date, [but] we have no current plans to do so." So, no matter what, it will require paid access in some form. Having a searchable database alone makes this really worth it, and since its paid access, it's not going to just disappear in a couple of years. The Archive will also remain exclusive to the Kickstarter backers for at least six months. -
Thank you so much, @bogusfrank for all the OPM issues. I'm the guy that's been giving you a "thanks" on all the ones recently that I've downloaded over the years. (minus a break here and there when I get busy) Thanks for scanning and editing so many of these. I couldn't always pay for a subscription, so its nice to finally see what I was missing.

New Release - P.S.X. Issue 17 (September 1997)

ooooh... its Ms. Croft. Someone tell @Areala. She looks so real... I mean, Ms Croft looks real. -
In the early days, they had handheld scanners you would hold a button or "activate," then you would drag the scanner across the page. They started off small, like only 5-6 inch wide, but I didn't know if they still made a version like that today. You had to drag it across the page at a steady speed or it would mess up, but supposedly the length is only limited by how much room you had on a table or floor. This would be early 1990s, but I remember my dad had one, and I tried using it. I agree with posters, in a reader it just shows up as another page, but slightly bigger. Unless they take the file apart, (which I do often) but the average person will never know. And 4x4 is just insane.

Never heard of this mag before. Since you took the time to mention the poster process, I will appreciate it more now. I always wondered if some members had to cut up the posters by sections to scan or try to use one of those older drag-and-scan ones to make a few long images, then combine those together. It looks great. The "surprise" got me. Never saw that either... not as a full-page.

Thanks for mentioning the cgwmuseum.org site to me a little while back. I've been busy, but I plan to take a few weeks and go through them all. I was fascinated with the magazines that actually went through the game crash back in 1983, and this one went through it and kept going. Much love for the work you do.

Official UK PlayStation 1 / 2 Magazine issues from Archive deleted

Thanks to @OdinValhalla for mentioning the retrocdn site. I just spent the last week finding a few hundred mags on Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast. Much love and thanks. -
Has it already been another three days? Must be time for more PLAY Magazine... er, "play Magazine?" Play Magazine? However we need to spell it. Thanks, I got a small collection to go through now. I got all the Game Informers downloaded, (don't worry, I'm doing my part... by seeding it for several days before I move it over) but I'll store those for now. PLAY and PSExtreme go in the "look through when time" pile. Glad to see both on the site. Good work.

Thanks for the hard work you put into these scans. I know you mentioned it before, but since these Japanese mags are big in size, and must take weeks of your time to finish. I just looked through your latest, Dengeki PlayStation Vol.109 and it was 200 pages. I would be surprised if most of the Japanese magazines on the Internet Archive came from you (aside from the illegal scans that some post anyway). Good work as always. There are a few interviews I need to go back and goggle translate for later. It's so nice to have access to this content. And I can confirm -- no coverage of ANY Tomb Raider game in the whole issue. Weird.

New Release -Star Wars Galaxy Collector Issue 04 (November 1998)
StrykerOfEnyo replied to dablais's topic in New Releases
You didn't know about the new "3D hologram $%&#" coming out, @dablais? Its total fire. Alex Jones confirmed it. It might take 10 years, but I can't wait. I don't mind 50MB files unless I run across a better-quality version, then I need to have that one. As long as we all agree to STOP at 4800 ppi then I'm fine with that being the ceiling. -

Thank you again, kind sir. These mags aren't getting any easier to find, and thanks to you and others on the site, many can enjoy them for years to come.
