  1. EGM is dead (finally!) for those who don't want to click yet another link, here is the Kotaku article copied and pasted. All I can say is Good Riddance. EGM was such a rag in the last year, it was almost torture to read. It kind of sucks that they didn't make it to their 2o-year anniversary, but it's no real surprise. The magazine lately was brutal.
  2. The problem with EGM is that because they are perfect bound, it is hard to scan them without debinding them since a decent portion at the spine doesn't get scanned properly. And forcing the edge of the page against the scanner might damage the spine or the magazine.
  3. I am waiting to hear back from an eBay seller on the shipping rate for a magazine I just bought (system lists $12 s&H, auction description lists less). If all goes well, this will be my next project: It's not GamePro, but it's still retro
  4. I'd be willing to buy individual issues, but not the whole wad of them.
  5. A bit too rich for me, but that's a nice collection. I don't know if you'll get $2,500 for it, but stranger things have happened on eBay.
  6. GamePro Issue 8 (March 1990) is done and uploaded
  7. I also check Cheapassgamer regularly. I also use Goozex, which is a game trading site. It's been fantastic so far.
  8. I would love to see LittleBigPlanet on the 360, since I just got one, but that will never happen. Damn Microsoft for turning down the game on their system! Now I'll have to get a PS3 one day to play LBP.
  9. Power Rangers Monthly would be awesome! Go Go Power Rangers!
  10. The magazine arrived today; I shall start scanning it shortly. It's only 64 pages, so it shouldn't take too too long
  11. Nothing beats owning the original game; unless that game costs a pile of money to get.
  12. I have the game with the manual, but all my games are packed away. Otherwise I'd scan it for you.
  13. THe only problem with Wired is that a lot of the articles in the second half of the magazine are boring, and all of them are extremely long. A few months ago they wasted 8 pages on some skank who is famous for being famous on the internet and nothing else. 1 paragraph for that do-nothing tramp would have been enough; not 8 pages.
  14. I find that Hardcore Gamer has the best layout and design of any of the magazines. All other magazines have a similar layout, with boring designs and lots of white backgrounds. HGM is actually interesting to look at when it comes to the layout. While I am not crazy about their content and lack thereof, I find their design and layout to be top notch.
  15. That one sounds like Tubular, the 2nd Special Star Road level. Awesome was the 4th level. Everything was ice; it wasn't so bad until you got to the ledges where the one invincibility star was and all the jumping fish. It was the timing and jumping required to hop from icy ledge to icy ledge that made it hard, especially when the ledges became quite small. And there were pipes hanging down from the sky preventing you from flying through the level.
  16. Butter Bridge in Super Mario World was a huge pain. As was part of the last fortress in the Valley of Bowser. But I think the hardest for me was Awesome on the Special Star Road in SMW.
  17. Best light gun game ever: Gangster Town.
  18. I rented it. It was a 5 day rental. I played it for 45 minutes the first night because I wanted to see if if my 2.5-year-old would be interested. He wasn't and no one touched it again after that first night. That "game" is a complete waste of time and energy.
  19. Brands of the World may save you time next time. They have a gillion logos in EPS format, so you might not need to recreate your icons and stuff next time

    The Mags I Have

I think it is worth redoing as well. I am curious as how the scans came out blurry to begin with (apart from the area near the spine.
  21. No problem! I wanted to scan something again (even though scanning is a pain without taking the issue apart), and I'd like to have some of the old issues in my hand in print form. It's win-win for everyone
  22. Just saw GamePro Issue 8 March 1990 on eBay; saw that no one here had it, so I grabbed it. It will be my next scan when it arrives. And because it cost me $20, I won't be taking out the staples and slicing it up
  23. Probably because of the cost of distribution. The US is 2000 times larger than the UK, and 2 billion times larger when you consider that US magazines are also distributed to Canada. Hardcore Gamer magazine is high quality, and seems like it`s also low circulation, and it doesn`t seem to be doing well; they stopped publishing monthly with the December 2007 issue and only publish quarterly now. And the magazine is still thinner than the monthly issues were. the only thing we can do is DESTROY THE INTERNET.
  24. I managed to get coins for two games last night, even though I tried with 5. I have 2 years before the first survey can't be done anymore, so there really isn't a rush for me. Instead of using all that crap-butt Web 2.0 stuff on their site, they should have kept it simple.
  25. That is what Hardcore Gamer Magazine is doing. It's taken a lot of inspiration from GameFan, and has the nicest page layouts around, but it's tanking. At the beginning of the year, it went from monthly to quarterly. Quarterly! A game magazine, in this day and age, publishing only 4 times a year. It's like a company going under and laying a ton of people off to try and save themselves. They don't really do reviews anymore either. The latest had only two reviews. They focus on articles mostly, and previews. I also can't find it on the newsstands. But I can download it for free from their site. And EGM will be the one who caused their own demise. That magazine has been terrible for years.
