  1. I don't know. I think it will take more than next year for the PS3 to overtake the 360. Even with the proce drop it's still pretty pricey. Plus when you buy a PS3, you are almost committing yourself to the Blu-ray format. Personally, I think Blu-ray is much better than HD-DVD and hope it wins, but I won't commit yet. I'd rather get a Wii and an LG Super Blu Player so I can buy both formats
  2. I have used Azureus for a few years now. I like it, but it's a resource hog, especially since the update to Azureus "Vuze". Bloated garbage. I may downgrade to an earlier version or change to something else. I'd like something a bit less demanding on my system.
  3. Dude! Those were the prime years for those magazines! You have to hook me up with those!
  4. What kind of sad setup do you have where you have to disconnect your DVD player in order to hook up your Wii?

    Gamepro Numbering

I am stil ltrying to find a definitive answer from someone on GamePro's site. No luck so far.
  6. I'd never use my game console to watch DVDs. It's there to play games. I already have a DVD player and two DVD drives in my computer.

    Why .cbr?

That's pretty awesome. I didn't know CDisplay had those functions. Personally I see no change with the colour settings, but that thumbnail function is great

    Why .cbr?

That's not bloatedness though. That's outdatedness . Or something. CBRs seem easy to deal with, but from what I can tell, I can't jump to a certain page number like I can with Adobe Reader.

    Why .cbr?

Adobe Reader isn't bloated. Nor is it resource-hogging.
  10. As of right now, I have the following At least one of each system boxed and complete, except Dreamcast): Sega Master System: 144 games Sega Genesis: 155 games Sega CD: 45 games Sega Genesis 32X: 24 games Sega Saturn: 11 games Sega Dreamcast: 12 games Atari 2600: About 30 games Super Nintendo: About 20 games Nintendo 64: About 12 games I have a few Master System games on the way to me from eBay. I also have a TurboGrafx-16 (CIB) on the way with one game, and an Atari Jaguar CIB and Jaguar CD CIB on the way with about 10 games. I am not sure I will keep the Jaguar system though. I really shouldn't have bought it. I'll have to see when it gets here.
  11. No problem! I am new here too, and found the site to be exactly what I was looking for that I wanted to help. I have a bunch more that I have to upload to MegaUpload and make torrents of. The torrents don't seem to do too well. People download them and then don't seed, so I am the only one seeding them. I started with 5, and am now only seeding three since I am the only seed for those. So I don't know if I will do the torrents again.

    Why .cbr?

I just gave it a whirl. I tried with EGM Issue 33, which is 116 megs. The PDF with compression set to best quality was 120 megs. So it's almost the same size.

    Why .cbr?

Interesting. I know almost nothing about CBR files except that they are compressed archives with their extension changed. I only asked because PDF is a more universal file type. I can always extract the JPEGS from an issue and make a PDF out of them and see what happens. Ultimately the best quality and smallest file size is the most important thing . Making a PDF from JPEGS is easy peasy, so if dual formats were wanted, it would be a breeze to do.

    Why .cbr?

I am just curious as to why RetroMags decided to make the files CBR files instead of PDFs? I almost never see .cbr files unless it's a comic book. It's always PDF. Just curious
  15. I'd definately buy old issues of EGM and GamePro from RetroMags. I've been tempted to call GamePro and ask how much their back issues cost since they are offering them again.
  16. I remember my friend buying an issue. It was pretty neat. Apparently, Hardcore Gamer is a lot like Diehard GameFan used to be. They seem to hold GameFan in high esteem, so maybe you might want to check out Hardcore Gamer

    Gamepro Numbering

I've got the answer to this conundrum (if I remember correctly, which I am certain I do). GamePro used to put out a second magazine every now and then, quarterly or twice a year I think, for a few years or so. Some of you may remember it; it was called S.W.A.T.Pro. It was basically a collection of all the stuff from the SWATPro sections of previous magazines, plus guides and the odd review (they reviewd Sonic The Hedgehog for the Master System in one issue). Anyhow, when they stopped publishing that magazine, they added the issue count to the total of GamePro magazine. That's why it suddenly jumps 11 issues, which means there were 11 issues of SWATPro published over the years presumably. I remember EGM criticizing them on their issue count and how they did it in one magazine.
  18. Manufactured By / Computer Model: Built by a localshop OS: Windows XP SP2 CPU: Intel Pentium 4 - 3GHz Hard Drive: 80GB for the OS and Programs plus 250GB for my files Memory: 2GB PC-3200 RAM Video: GeForce 6600 256MB Sound: SB Live! 5.1 Internet Connection: 6mbps Cable Other: 2 LG Super Multi DVD burners, 4 system fans + CPU fan, 450W Power Supply, 19" Samsung Widescreen LCD, Logitech X-230 speakers, Canon N640P scanner, and a LExmark printer that doesn't work
  19. Does he help scan and such? He seems to have a lot of issues. The reason I searched out a site like this is because I miss the good old days. I bought the December issue of GamePro over a week ago. The first one I bought in almost 11 years. Needless to say I was disappointed. Everything about it has changed. It used to be fun to read, with fun layouts and reviews and such. Now the magazine has too much of a serious layout and style. It made me miss my old issues of GamePro from the early 90's. Video games are fun, and to me reading video game magazines should be fun as well. Hardcore Gamer magazine does a good job of that, but it's just not the same. It doesn't seem as thorough. So, instead of calling GamePro to find out back issues would probably be $6-8 each, I searched for an alternative (read: free) source. Thus, Memory Lane will need to provide me my joy
  20. That would be a good idea. I found it a bit confusing trying to find exactly where t odownload the magazines from. I only found the download section today. Yesterday I just grabbed what I could from this section.
  21. Why not just use Mega Upload instead of RapidShare? There isn't the 100meg limit at MegaUpload.
  22. Like with the EGM magazines, I have redistributed the following issue of GamePro: GamePro Issue 76 Torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1032476 MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4M7EVYHX
  23. I am new here, and wanted to help apart from donating money. I saw that a lot of issues that I wanted were not seeded or were expired on RapidShare, so I thought I would seed and distribute the issues I was able to get in order to help more people get them. So here they are: EGM Issue 33 Torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1032452 MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M8XRS33R EGM Issue 34 Torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1032448 MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S4U6KC1Y EGM Issue 57 Torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1032481 MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OGOPZ050 EGM2 Issue 1 Torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1032467 MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NLRQY6NO I will seed the above torrents for a while, and the MegaUpload links should be good for a decent amount of time
  24. Hi, I am brand new here, and I have stumbled upon heaven! This place is awesome. I am glad I finally found a place where I can get back issues of old gaming magazines. Has anyone thought about contacting the guy who runs weaselmag.com? He has cover scans of almost every old copy of EGM and GamePro. Maybe he'd loan them out for scanning. Anyhow, glad to be here!
