  2. Funnily enough this is the flatbed I use now. I bought one used last summer to scan some 35mm negatives I have as well as a bunch of projector slides. It turns out this scanner is really good for magazine scans. I was using a Canon LiDE 400 before that but it's pretty much retired now along with my LiDE 200. What settings do you use on the V600? I found that selecting Office Mode gave me the best scans straight out of the scanner but I am always looking to make them even better. The better they come out of the scanner the less tweaking they need in Photoshop.

  6. CC 2018. None of the functions use anything exclusive to that version so they should work in v7.

  11. They were , somehow, even the originals. I rescanned and re-edited those 15 pages. The updated file is now available.
  12. I don't know what happened, but even the full sized cropped scans that I work with to make the downsized files for the release were messed up. I don't know how they because corrupted. I had to rescan the 15 pages and edit them again. Everything should be fine now.

  15. They should actually all be renamed to use the volume and issue numbers found on the cover than just issue numbers.
  16. The main difference between the ix and fi series is the durability. The consumables will last longer on the fi series, but otherwise it's hard to tell the difference between the scans. Dust lines are a big nuisance and completely normal. I wipe down the glass between every magazine or sometimes more often. I also spot check the scans as they get saved in case their are dust lines and I have to wipe the scanner and start again. As annoying as it can be some days, it's an easy trade off I am willing to make for the speed over scanning with a flatbed. For Photoshop processing, I've attached two Photoshop Actions to this post. One is for my fi-7160 using ScanSnap Manager, and the other is the one I would use for Phillyman's scans as he has an ix500. You can use either as a starting off point to tweak the settings to your liking, assuming your scans come out the same as ours. I only adjust the Brightness/Contrast, Levels, and Hue/Saturation; you may feel you want to tweak more settings. ScanSnap Manager.atn Magazine - Phillyman.atn
  17. Everything on the site is available for free for everyone, including people not registered to the site. "Not allowed" usually means either the publisher or content owner has expressly told us not to host their content on the site or that the magazine is too new to be allowed on the site. In the case of Hyper, it's just that the database has not been updated in a long time. We don't get a lot of demand for magazines outside of the US or UK so when it comes time to change the "Not Allowed" status to "Missing", the databases for other countries often get overlooked. So those that are actually allowed should all be marked as "Missing" as we don't have any of those scanned.

VideoGames & Computer Entertainment Issue 24 (January 1991) Initially scanned in October 2020, this issue was missing the two table of contents pages, so it sat in a folder called "On Hold" until the pages could be provided. In a stroke of luck @TheRedEye from the Video Game History Foundation provided me a sample scan of this issue in PDF. Hence the two pages were able to be used in this scan o fine able to release this issue.
