  1. Sad but it is not likely to change anytime soon. Kotaku has more on it.
  2. It is great to hear that games are getting back to that fun factor and being less like work. Crash Commando is one of the games on my PS3 want list for sure.
  3. I have no problem with paying for an online service like Live, just it seems that they would have been better off with one service rather than Silver and Gold, but as you said, they seem to be doing good business with it.
  4. 1) Gamefan 2) Video Games and Computer Entertainment 3) Electronic Gaming Monthly 4) Maximum 5) Game Players 6) Gamepro 7) Computer Gaming World 8) PC Gamer 9) Classic Video Gamer Magazine 10) Game Informer
  5. Kotaku.com has news and a new screen of the Saw game, they played some too.
  6. I would like to thank the staff of Classic Video Gamer Magazine for joining us at Retromags and participating like they have and look forward to them, hopefully, sticking around and enjoying what we have to offer and to ride along with us as we continue to do what we do here. In light of the popularity of the review I would also like to let everyone here know that I have secured an interview with Mike "STGuy1040" P. for the near future and look forward to getting some inside information on how things started for ClassicVGM, how it felt to see the first order come in, how they are dealing with their success so far and what the future holds for them. If you, the members of Retromags, have any questions you would like to have asked of Mike, just PM me, triverse, and let me know, I will do my best to get them into the interview session.
  7. I am sure your releases will be eagerly checked out whenever you release one. Them missing page inserts we have are just for this reason, you put them in the release (renamed the missing page numbers so they show up in the right place) so that releases that are not complete can be released (hopefully a member will see that those pages are missing and may have time to scan them, but not the whole mag). Hopefully that isn't more confusing than it should be.
  8. I know the feeling to have something destroyed without your knowing then when you want to enjoy it or show it off, it is in tihs damaged state. If it is just a couple of pages that are missing we have "missing page" pages that you can insert when releasing the file. I will find them. For some reason the posts with the insert pages are hard to find.
  9. Thank you very much for the numbers on those (s1500 told me the Tron one was #1 but after that, he wasn't sure, now we know). You saved me many fruitless hours of searching google. There is no hurry on scanning anything. This project is completely voluntary (every once in awhile someone may make a request though if you have your list available) and you should never feel obligated to do anything unless you want to.
  10. These are the Videogaming Illustrated issues that s1500 has sent me so far (I will ask him if he has anymore-or hopefully he will see this thread and chime in). August 82 April 83 June 83 Just to be sure we are on the same page this is what I have (2 of the covers anyhow): That is the Videogaming Illustrated you are talking about right?
  11. Have you tried looking at the available magazines from that time here on RM? EGM and Gamepro were printing back then and covere handhelds a lot. There was also VG&CE and Nintendo Power. Not sure if we have anything covering that game (although you can check the contents on most of the magazines before downloading, as most should list reviews and previews).
  12. That is funny about getting a C&D just for asking about a game. It is a shame that companies are litigation happy though. I wonder how long id Software would lasted if they sued everyone for making levels using their artwork from the game (the engine fine, the level editor, fine but make your own textures type attitude)?
  13. I am working on the list now. I am able to be around a computer most of the day and can take advantage of quick responses to questions from members (might say, I am dedicated to this project or just weird, either way ). You are talking about Bill Mario Man I am sure on ebay. Yeah, he has a lot of magazines, you can search for videogame magazine and then on the left, look for 'complete auctions' and then click that. Anything that has been getting sold lately (and stuff that closed without selling) will be listed there, not sure how long back it goes, probably a week or so. Taking a quick look, not much is selling for much right now. I would personally hold onto them as you certainly are in possession of some very rare key items in gaming history there. If you are strapped for cash and need to unload them then you could either post them on ebay with Buy it nows similar to BMM's prices or just slightly lower or contact him and ask for an offer (he will probably want pictures and other proof of condition, I am not sure as I have never sold to him or bought from him). I do know that he has been sitting on a lot of those issues for quite awhile (since I joined here over a year ago and started looking hard at ebay for magazines). I have a preliminary list now: Arcade the Video Game Magazine #1 Atarians V1i2 Electronic Fun with Computers and Games #1 (uploaded) Electronic Games 80's 1-10 (#1 uploaded, 2-10 available) Electronic Games 90's 1 Gamepro 1 and 2 (#1 uploaded) Videogaming Illustrated 1-5 (need months on these) Video Games (Pumpkin Press) 1-5, 8 (january 83 uploaded) Video Games and Computer Entertainment 1-4 Video Games Player #1 I know Electronic Games 80's run is being worked on hard by kitsune and waremonger at the moment. I would personally like to see VG&CE #1-4 scanned, as I am sure one of our alumni members, Gamedoctor would too (the same Game Doctor that wrote for VG&CE and many others). If possible could you list the months for the Videogaming Illustrated issues? Another member has scanned many of them and I am editing them now but they didn't number their issues. Thanks, it is greatly appreciated.
  14. Wow. You have some rare issues there. If you are open to scanning anything can I make a few requests? I can go through and compare what you have and we don't have anywhere else if you don't mind. I am sure there are a few members here that would like to discuss purchases with you. If no satisfactory offers are made, you could go the ebay route as there are a couple of resellers that will sometimes sell a kidney for issues they need. Welcome to the site by the way. As far as editing, if you find that you don't have time for it we can work out something for storing the unedited files till a member here can edit them for you to save time if need be.
  15. Kotaku.com has played Little Big Planet on PSP Go. Check out their impressions of it here. PSN.es has screenshots of LBP on PSP here. Here are some if you don't feel like clicking through: And in other PSP news, Krotos is coming as a character in the Soul Calibur game for PSP according to kotaku.com.
  16. RPGGUY, that was very interesting and informative. Thank you for posting that. I learned quite a bit about MUD's from this (something that I never bothered with in the past as I was more of a console player).
  17. Welcome Ben, what branch of service are you in? I attemped the Marines in 96 but was not good enough to make it, I do have a 6 or so inch dent in my head as a souvineer for trying though. I wouldn't trade the experience of what I went through for anything though.
  18. Yeah, the quality paper they used just turns to mush if soaked. I had several after I got to Arkansas that had to be thrown away because they turned into one big page.
  19. Got a few more games to announce that are coming to PSP: These are thanks to Kotaku.com Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (2010) Resident Evil (2010) Final Fantasy VII (now on PSN) Eurogamer has 4 shots of the PSP version of Gran Turismo.
  20. The man behind Tetris http://venturebeat.com/2009/06/01/after-25...million-copies/
  21. Bill has been a wonderful person to work with before, during and after that interview took place. He really is one of the best journalists that our hobby has seen. I know I can trust the Retromags members to show him the respect he deserves. For those that are too young to know who he is and what he has done, you can take a look at the fact that magazines like Gamepro and Game Informer and EGM and all others were started because without Bill Kunkel and Arnie Katz to start it, gaming magazines would probably be totally different than they are. For some great reading why not check out Electronic Games #1, Electronic Games #17 and the Video Games and Computer Entertainment section of the downloads for articles that Bill has written.
  22. They were protected, the humidity got the early issues for the most part.
  23. Buyer's Guides are accepted (we have several up already from EGM) and catalogs, why not? I haven't seen any uploaded that I know of but they are still interesting to me and surely others. I say finish scanning it and I can edit it for you and get it uploaded (I am working on your scans as I type this). The manuals and stuff I would like to see, not sure if they are accepted here anymore (I know it is a touchy subject as most people have manuals for N64 games and such and it is hard to "date" those to being prior to the 2000 cutoff). If you want to scan them I know of a site that stores them much like we store magazines (a really great member, Areala, came over from there).
  24. Don't forget, we rode the incoming winds of El Nino out of California
  25. Kotaku.com has plenty of pictures from E3 of the PSP Go system with some comparisons of size. http://kotaku.com/5276208/psp-go-the-gallery And hands on comments here: http://kotaku.com/5276210/psp-go-hands+on-impressions
