  1. greenlantern32, that would be cool if you had time to do it. I definitely would go for a download of it (if you are looking for a decent place to put the files without having to worry about them being deleted you could try www.adrive.com). If you get around to trying Maniac Mansion, there is a fan remake called Maniac Mansion Deluxe that you may want to try after the original one. You can get it pretty cheap on ebay, or at least you could-just checked, around $15 is average for cart only after shipping for the NES version.
  2. I am not sure how he does it, more than likely a mixture of manual and automatic (probably scans it for various attributes).
  3. DPsx, I think you are safe as long as you log in. According to Phillyman's post there, it is a combination of zero posts and have not signed in within the last year. You are fulfilling one of the requirements by logging in and you have posts so you should be safe. Besides, you are in charge of the games in the arcade right? I doubt you would get deleted.
  4. I remember Mindscape having something like that in an issue of EGM (it was several pages of stuff about their games and one of the featured games was Paperboy or one of it's ports). I no longer have any EGM's in my possession or I could go and find out which one it was that you are looking for.
  5. The battery use is the main reason that most people passed on it and went for the Gameboy. On a side note, has anyone seen the diamond encrusted gold plated Game Gear? It was made by a jeweler in France years ago, I remember seeing a pic of it in an old magazine (not sure which one though).

  7. Well, what do we have here? It is apparently a Coca Cola branded Game Gear system complete in mint condition on ebay. Check it out: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEGA-GAME-GEAR-CONSO...%3A1|240%3A1318
  8. The only movie I see there that I really have a gripe with is The Simpsons movie. That is only because after so many years there was absolutely no way it could have lived up to expectations. As it stands it just seems like you were watching a 4 part episode series all at once (which may be fine if you enjoy season DVD's and such-I don't really enjoy watching more than one or two episodes at a time before I change the channel).
  9. Special thanks to Gerweck.net for the news posted below. The Hillsborough County medical examiner announced just a few minutes ago that the cause of death in the case of Andrew "Test" Martin was oxycodone intoxication, and ruled the manner of death was accidental overdose, we can reveal. Oxycodone is the addictive ingredient found in the painkiller OxyContin. The pill, dubbed Hillbilly Heroin, is widely abused and linked to hundreds of deaths in the US including that of Sensational Sherri Martel and Hollywood Actor Heath Ledger. Martin was found dead at his apartment in Tampa, Florida on March. 14. Police say a neighbor reported that she could see into his apartment window and that Martin appeared motionless for several hours. Police say there was no indication of foul play. More in our regular news round up later tonight. For the original posting please visit here.
  10. I remember that show vaguely. Didn't JD Roth get around back in the day? I mean, recently he was the host for the first season on Solitary or whatever Fox called it where the contestants were in an old missile silo and and to decide 100% to give the money to one person. The catch being that as time went by, the amount of money decreased. How many episodes do you have of it?
  11. Dave Arneson, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, passed away just after 11pm on Tuesday, April 7th. Mr. Arneson along with Gary Gygax (also R.I.P.) made D&D into the phenomenon that it is today. Kotaku.com has more information and also addresses for cards and letters if you wish to send some and also, an address for viewing Mr. Arneson. The family is inviting fans to pay their last respects, though the time is yet to be determined. http://kotaku.com/5205225/dd-co+creator-dead-at-61
  12. Gnome has blogged about the release of Gamefan #1 (and the fact that we have the first 3 issues available) on his site. Follow the link below and show him a little gratitude for his great coverage. http://www.gnomeslair.com/2009/04/retromag...ld-gamefan.html
  13. Games Radar covered this renaming in a recent article, bet you can't guess what the reason was for renaming Bio Hazard to Resident Evil in the US was! http://www.gamesradar.com/f/gr-asks-why-wa...040810553131032
  14. http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/04/07/...me-boy-advance/ For those interested, it is not one of those Top 10 lists of my fave games but an actual nostalgic article.
  15. Editing some RAW issues that are up and ran across this ad in an EGM:
  16. I could have sworn that we had manuals up at one point or another in the past. They may have been taken down for some reason though (probably out of concern for the 1999 rule).
  17. I didn't see the keyboard for Typing of the Dead on there. You should be able to pick it up for less than $10 at most used game stores. It is the mouse that they charge nearly $25 for, for some reason.
  18. Meppi pointed out that the other two Tips and Tricks have rapidshare links in the info section there, I checked and sure enough, they are there, just real small. Or were real small, I increased the size of the text so it is more noticeable now.
  19. Haven't found any info on Ed Boon's opinion on this mess but there is apparently three companies eyeing Midway for a possible buyout: A private invester (didn't one already step in and get involved?) Ubi Soft (could you imagine, we could have Splinter Cell vs Mortal Kombat or something) and Warner Brothers (hmmm, they own DC comics don't they? Maybe they are planning on doing something similar to what WWE did with ECW-just consume the company as payment of debt owed). http://kotaku.com/5201804/three-companies-...way-for-buy-out
  20. Just a follow up to what Phillyman said there. We currently have one member that is keeping things on Rapidshare for everyone and he is sometimes capped pretty hard on his bandwidth, that is why some releases slip through the cracks as far as getting on RS links. I have a message with the issues needing RS links off to him. There are however a few that you can download with the RS links now: http://www.retromags.com/forums/Tips-and-t...u-file1085.html http://www.retromags.com/forums/Tips-and-T...nu-file644.html http://www.retromags.com/forums/Tips-and-t...ce-file560.html
  21. Anything not up already is surely a welcome addition to the site. I have a bunch of VG&CE issues from early in their life, only 3 or so after the name change. I recently sold off a bunch (about 100+ issues) from my collection, still have to ship another 30+ of them when I can get them all together and packed. A bunch of them were the 'phone book' issues, like Volume 1 issue 6 of EGM2 (250+ pagers). I am focusing on Gamefan and VG&CE at the moment as far as my personal scanning, leaning into getting Game Player's again when I can too.
  22. Volume 2 Issue 10 has a 2 page spread, hardly a walkthrough for Sonic and Knuckles. Nothing on Sonic CD though. Volume 2 Issue 09 doesn't have anything on Sonic CD, or Sonic anything as far as I could tell scanning through it.
  23. Scan away. I am sure we can get your releases up with no problem. Just make sure they are issues you scanned, that is all we really ask, other than the age thing. Do you have any idea what Atarian issues you have? Any more blip issues? I am interested in this, as I am sure others are too, since those are costly endeavors on ebay right now.
  24. Yes, I remember your issue of Blip, it was recently featured on the Front Page as the oldest April issue we have on the site, thank you for uploading it. Glad I could help with cleaning up your scans (I prefer editing to scanning by a long shot).
  25. First of all, your not being a bother, it is cool. We all will do our best to help out if we can. Volume 2 Issue 09 Volume 2 Issue 10 Here are the covers to the Gamefan issues I have available if you want to look through them: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DILN1KA0 I will check and see if I can find some more info on it possibly being VG&CE.
