Just Finished Scanning More Strategies For Nintendo Games...
triverse replied to greenlantern32's topic in Magazine Talk
Your scans are pretty good. Is this your first one to do? On a few of the pages, like the cover, you may need to put more pressure on it at the spine area to keep it from blurring (although it is not all that bad). I was recently watching this issue on Ebay, wondering if it would be worth grabbing or not (not now, thanks to your scanning it, thank you). -
Interesting that someone is trying to preserve games in general, head over and take a look, and if you have time, take the survey. http://grandtextauto.org/2009/04/03/survey...-game-industry/

Here is some information on the first batch of DSiware games taken from Kotaku.com. Keep in mind the DSi has about 1024 blocks of storage space available, the block sizes of the games and software are included to help with memory management. Nintendo DSi Browser (Nintendo, 1 player, 0 Nintendo DSi Points/96 blocks): Get on the Web with ease using the Nintendo DSi Browser. Powered by Opera, this simple-to-use Web browser is made specifically for the Nintendo DSi system, providing a seamless and intuitive browsing experience that makes the most of the system's touch controls and two-screen interface. Check e-mail, get the latest news updates and more – wherever a wireless Internet connection is available. Just grab your stylus and start surfing. Bird & Beans™ (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 200 Nintendo DSi Points/11 blocks): In Bird & Beans, you control Pyoro, a small bird with an elastic tongue and an insatiable appetite for beans. Scramble to catch beans that fall from the sky, racking up points as you go. The farther away the bean, the more points it's worth. Beware any beans that are missed – they'll leave a hole in the ground that can't be crossed, potentially trapping Pyoro. Bird & Beans also features a second version that enables Pyoro to spit seeds at high speed, bringing down more beans than ever before. This fun and fast-paced game requires skill and strategy to master, and always leaves you wanting to play just one more time. Master of Illusion™ Express: Funny Face (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 200 Nintendo DSi Points/19 blocks): Master of Illusion Express titles are mind-boggling magic tricks pulled from the popular Nintendo DS™ game. Learn the illusions, practice up and amaze your friends. Master of Illusion Express: Funny Face uses your Nintendo DSi system as a prop in a card trick. Draw a face on the touch-sensitive screen and astound your audience as the face tells them which playing card they picked. Also included is the bonus Vanishing Card trick, which the Nintendo DSi system performs for your enjoyment. Art Style™: AQUIA™ (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Nintendo DSi Points/91 blocks): Dive into Art Style: AQUIA, a fast-paced underwater puzzle game that asks you to think fast and move even faster. Help a scuba diver reach the ocean's floor by matching three or more colored blocks horizontally or vertically. The more blocks you match, the faster the diver will descend. Fail to clear blocks and the diver's air supply will start to run out, causing darkness to creep in from above and cloud your vision. Race against time in TIMED DIVE, dive deep in FREE DIVE mode or visit the AQUARIUM to view various sea creatures. Like every game in the Art Style series, AQUIA features elegant design, polished graphics and pick-up-and-play controls, creating an experience that focuses purely on fun and engaging game play. WarioWare™: Snapped! (Nintendo, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone – Comic Mischief, 500 Nintendo DSi Points/61 blocks): Wario™ returns with more manic action made especially for the Nintendo DSi system. WarioWare: Snapped! uses the built-in Nintendo DSi Camera to make players the star of the show by placing them right into fast-paced mini-games. Take part in wacky challenges simply by moving your face and body as you travel along four wild roller coasters, hosted by Wario and his pals. Beat the mini-games using motions ranging from large to small, or play with a friend for even more fun. Wario even has a few tricks up his sleeve. Brain Age™ Express: Math (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Nintendo DSi Points/71 blocks): In this math-focused edition of the popular Brain Age series, players can enjoy a mix of new and familiar exercises, including Change Maker, Triangle Math, Sum Totaled and Multi Tasker. A new Themes mode includes drawing, photography and voice acting challenges, letting you share your creativity with friends and family. And if you need a break from your routine, the always-enjoyable Virus Buster makes its return.

We all know that Midway is currently in bankruptcy right? If not you can catch up a little here. Apparently, they are selling off the Mortal Kombat franchise like they did Wheelman (who Ubi Soft bought, info about the rumor here). For info on the possible offloading of the MK franchise you can check out VG247.com's article here for more details about it. But it doesn't stop there, the development team behind Mortal Kombat wants to get away from Midway now, among the problems listed are frustration with delays. Check out VG247's article. Seems they are going the way of 3DO when they started selling off their franchises like Heroes of Might and Magic and other titles that made them what they were. After doing that, there isn't much left to do but lock the doors and turn the keys in to the super intendant of the buidling and go home.

Meppi, very cool pics there. I understand you having a few blu ray movies before having a player too. I had several DVD's for about 9 months before I finally bought a DVD player to view them (they were gotten for extremely cheap from ebay so I figured why not). The shots are very detailed. Isn't the resoulution on one of the cameras like 1.3 megapixels? Not much but still, those pics are extremely detailed for the technology in use. Especially the one with your cat. Usually, having a sun glare like that would wash out most of the picture (at least it has in my experiences).

The video quality is a lot better than I thought it would be. Isn't the game showing just highlights from the gameplay? I read somewhere that it will do that at the end of the stage or something, thus making it seem like Mr. Iwata is having a seizure of sorts.

If taking into account inflation, game prices have been dropping for years. I remember buying Gauntlet for the NES new for $64.95 and paying around $58 for Super Mario Brothers 3 on NES. On the other hand, I don't remember spending more than $49.95 or so for a PSOne game when they were new.

Don't know of any 'pink' colored issues from back then (there were a couple that had red as a primary color). I have a couple that meet your criteria for content though, I posted pics of the covers below maybe you are thinking of one of them? That is the issue I think you are looking for, may be wrong though. I will go through and check them out, could be the below one here. Here are some other alternatives that could be the one you are looking for, just off the top of my head here, not sure which have MK2 stuff but will check.

Not sure how many people know about this site and their newsletter but they are up to issue #58. Looks interesting, covering retro games and such. http://retrogamingtimes.com/

The point of the service is to get games like Crysis and such to gamers that either can't afford or just don't want to spend tons of cash on a computer. The service could be good if done right (the true test will be when it goes live). I remember reading something about a company doing something similar for cell phones (the whole streaming the game video and such to your phone and then sending back the keypresses). This is on a larger scale though. Looks interesting if it is done right.

You would think with the wide use of online with consoles, that they would give you the option of saving your save files online as well just for instances like this. That way, when your save gets corrupt, you could just download the one from your online account and go on your way. -
Everyone likes Downloadable Content for their favorite games. Especially when it is free. Well, Sony has decided to charge publishers for that DLC you are getting on the PS3 for free (no news on if this covers the PSP or PSN store in general). Currently Sony is charging 16 cents per gigabyte downloaded of PS3 DLC. Think about it, that can add up to quite a lot for a popular demo like, say Resident Evil 5 which is close to a gigabyte (1 million downloads equals about $160,000.00 in additional costs to Capcom just to get the demo to each of those users). Sure Microsoft charges users to access XBox Live but they don't charge the company that is producing stuff any fees, yet, that could change in the future. MTV.com has the full story on this so please, take some time to read the whole story before posting questions or comments about it. http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/03/20/...adable-content/

Just log-in to your Battle.net account and choose to 'opt-in' on the Starcraft II beta, if you don't have a Battle.net account, you can create one for free and opt-in after logging in. Not everyone who opts in will get chosen as the participants are chosen at random from the members that opt-in. Computerandvideogames.com has more info on it. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=211310
