Sounds interesting, especially for a Nintendo fan. As far as getting shafted on something for $10, I remember buying the 2 Game Player's Encyclopedia for $10 back in the day and realising it was just a reprint of the articles from the previous year or so of their Nintendo Player's Guides. That is shafted.

Tim Lindquist is one of the editors/founders of Gamefan that went over to PS Extreme. The only other one that I know of that is close to games still is Eric Mylonas and he is just writing guides. Didn't NEC do something like that with PowerVR on PC's years ago when they were trying to battle the 3DFx boards? I remember in an issue of Next Generation that there was an interview with a developer that stated NEC was paying people to make games on their hardware (or at least support it).

The only exercise mat I have seen for the NES didn't have anything on the other side of it. Of course, I have only seen one, about 20+ years ago. The 'ring' thing is the Activator that Sega released for the Genesis (EGM did several specials on it around issue 30 to 45, not sure which one specifically but that is the range I think it is in). It was interesting, just ahead of it's time, same thing with the Power Glove (why hasn't someone just made a pair of gloves you could strap the Wiimote to and viola!, Power Glove).

Off topic a little but the 360 version of Puzzle Quest was the only version to get any kind of expansion also (is there some X loving going on behind the scenes? )
