  1. If Sony wants to own the living room they really need to work on their stuff more. I mean, it is cool they did add neat stuff in the PS3 like wi-fi and such so that you can connect to the PSP without wires, they just need to do something about the price of the PS3, or more specifically, promote one version and be done with it, I am so tired of Sony and Microsoft offering so many versions of their systems then wondering why gamers are confused.
  2. I have a Dell that I fixed up for a customer that never paid, I get to keep and write it off as a loss on my business taxes. Inspiron 3000 Celeron 2.66 ghz 768 megs of ram Windows XP (severely modded) 40 gig hard drive 20 gig hard drive about 12 flash drives 1 gig or so DVD burner TV Tuner (why I need the DVD burner)
  3. Gas around here in town (-------------------> that way about 1 and a half hours) is about $2.95 or so. Hate going to town off of this mountain, it takes so much gas, lol.
  4. Make it 2.5D with really good graphics and I agree then, I would love to see it remade. I loved that game back in the day when I first started playing NES. I owned the pack-in cartridge and that game for months and loved it. Robo Warrior would be awesome to see remade, I still play that game (I modded my PSP just to be able to play this game on the go). I remember the big argument that SNES couldn't do multi sprite bosses like in Gunstar Heroes on Genesis, funny thing is, the NES did it years before either system with Robo Warrior (get to the snake boss and you will see what I mean). I would also like to see remakes of Mega Man games, I think all they have been doing since Wiley Wars on Genesis is just porting. Remake them, throw them on a disc and enjoy the sales. There are some others but I can't think of them right now.
  5. I use Gens+ for Sega Genesis and Sega CD emulation on PC and then use Picodrive on my modded PSP for both. Phillyman, how and what info would you want about emulation, just PC or for consoles too? Also, about the hosting of the emulators, do you have any idea how you are going to break them up for some order of files? I am interested in helping out in this regard as much as I can. I have several emulation sites that I visit daily, would it be ok to post links here or would that be against the TOS? Thanks.
  6. I have 28-31 of the ones you listed as needing, as to the condition, well, 28 and 29 have wear on the cover. You will see when I get them scanned. They are not in mint condition if that is what you are looking for. Also, before I forget, welcome to the site. As far as a cheap scanner, keep an eye on your local electronics store like Best Buy or Staples if you have any of those type stores around. They are usually more than willing to sell off a model that is no longer the latest and greatest of whatever electronics. I have seen some really nice scanners go locally (Staples) for around $30 on clearance when just a month or two earlier they were closer to $200+. You might want to do something about that shelf your mags are on, it does look like it is going to collapse, believe me, I have experience in having things collapse, the floor fell through where my mags were kept and lost about 170+ of them to the rain and mud.
  7. I personally would like to see more retro titles get the update treatment along the lines of what Working Designs did with the Lunar games, or Nintendo did with Mario All-Stars. Not just straight ports only, but also an update along with the port. I mean, come on, there are surely some new people at a company that need to cut their teeth on something, why not have them working on an update to a retro title. I understand that some companies are kind of ashamed of their portfolio, or at least part, of retro titles (Konami, I am looking at you and your stance about the first two Metal Gear games on NES). I would have loved to see a Sonic game in 2.5D as it was called (like Clockwork Knight on Saturn), when they released the compilation for Saturn, and recently more advanced systems like Gamecube and others I am sure, but they just ported the games. Major missed opportunity to update a classic. Another idea I would like to see done more is releasing games from the previous generation or so that weren't released domestically, I mean games like Policenauts (I have heard that Konami is sitting on a complete english script, although this could just be a rumor considering they have had ample time and surely demand from gamers to release it and haven't yet). Or how about a complete Shenmue set on one Blu Ray disc? That would be cool.
  8. Gamefan Volume 1 Issue 3 January 1993 Uploaded to RS, waiting for confirmation and such from Phillyman on it.
  9. Here are the current complete scans I have ready and are uploading. I will send the links to Phillyman when they are done uploading so they can be moved to the proper places here on the site Gamefan Volume 1 Issue 3 January 1993 Gamefan Volume 1 Issue 5 April 1993 I will be scanning some more today or tomorrow. Hope these help out.

    The Mags I Have

Cool, I didn't know you allowed partial uploads like that. I will keep that in mind when scanning them. I will scan as much as I can as time permits. Phillyman, did you get the message about the Gamefan issue that I sent you a link for?

    The Mags I Have

Meppi, remember that is after the floor falling through. I mean, I counted out about 179 issues were lost, mostly Game Informer and EGM from the last two years but unfortunately, several issues of Gamefan and EGM were lost too, hence the holes in my collection there. Sad night that was. I am going through and noting which ones are available already and comparing quality where possible and making a note of it so that I can either mark it to scan or mark it as scanned and go onto another mag.

  13. Multi- Video Games and Computer Entertainment (I think there is one issue up so far) it is under the MISC section Game Players (older, as in DOS computer games, but still good) Specific- EGM (console specific, not computers, as in PSOne, N64 and such) PC Games (computer specific, quite interesting here and there) Those are some good ones to get started on. Hope that helps.
  14. I have scanned and donated the Nintendo Power Strategy Guide - Final Fantasy. Was that one that was needed for the membership offer?

    Psxtreme

I have several issues from the PSOne days but unfortunately right now I am busy scanning Gamefan, of which I have many times more and there seems to be more demand here for. I will try and slip them in when I have a chance though.
  16. I see the difference in saturation, I will definitely start scanning with the new settings since they work oh so much better. Thanks for the advice and don't worry about hurting my feelings I mean, sometimes the critique needs to be hard. If it looks bad it needs to be called bad, you know? Again thanks I do appreciate it and look forward to helping out around here with the Gamefan scans. I also have a bunch of other magazines that you don't have listed here but Gamefan seems to be the more popular so I will start with it. I have these: Game Players (a multiplatform/PC/Commodore/Apple gaming magazine) PC Gamer (many isssues of it from the late 90's) Computer Gaming World (not sure how many, but I have a few) I have others but they escape my mind right now (the floor in my storage area where the mags fell through and now they are dispersed throughout the house to offset the weight till I can re-inforce the floor in there-sad huh?). I will make sure to have the pages numbered according to the information that I was given in other posts along with the NFO file and thank you page. Thanks meppi and everyone else that has helped me out during this learning process, it is greatly appreciated.
  17. Here, I took the unedited, unscaled, scan earlier, the 4 meg or so one, and used Gimp to resize it at a ration of 100%, I forgot to go with 90 but hey, it looks pretty good on my screen, how about yours Meppi? http://rapidshare.com/files/149517572/game...scaled.jpg.html Let me know how that one looks on your screens anyone that is willing to try it out. I apologise for being such a trouble maker for everyone, just want to get this right before wasting a ton of time scanning and every downloading only to be disappointed.
  18. Thanks, I will download Gimp tonight and try it tomorrow.
  19. raw from printer http://rapidshare.com/files/149222678/gamefan3.jpg.html after going through irfanview resizing and saving at 100% JPG http://rapidshare.com/files/149229997/gamefan.jpg.html It appears that the blurry effect is happening after being resized in irfanview. Are there any other photo editors that would be good to try out? By the way, that is the settings I used with that rescan earlier.
  20. I am using the scanning software (lexmark) and their accompanying photo editor to edit the pics. I have a lexmark x74-75 if that helps. Are there any other programs that are compatible with my scanner (it is an all in on). Using CDisplay to view that last scan, it is blurry. Hmm, wonder what is going on, the pic is not as blurry when just viewing it with photo viewer but there is some obvious blur going on there. Wierd as the blur is not there on the original scans. I rescanned the page, that is a straight from the scanner pic, not an upscale of the first one. That is why it is weird to me that it blurred. You would think it would be clearer as it is saved at maximum quality after scanning at 300 dpi (all of my scans so far have been 300 dpi). I will keep trying. No use in wasting bandwidth and time if the images aren't coming out good, you know? Thanks for the quick response.
  21. I saved them one time after editing. After checking my settings, I think I see the problem. It was set to best compression rather than best quality. Ooops. On my computer the images look just fine. No artifacting on the images unless I zoom in really really close. I am running 1024x768 if that matters. If you have time meppi could you take a look at the rescans for me and give me some advice on them? I really do appreciate any help that anyone is willing to offer. Here is a scan of a page from that same issue, let me know how it works on your computer, as on mine it doesn't seem any different to me than the original smaller scan. http://rapidshare.com/files/149184407/gamefan2.jpg.html Thanks
  22. Here is Gamefan Volume 5 issue 4 April 1997 for those who want it. http://rapidshare.com/files/149091907/game...l_1997.cbr.html Hope the editing is fine on this one. I forgot to resize the images and the page numbering is what I use for my scan so I can search them out when I need a review or info on a game. Other than that, I don't think there is much wrong with this issue, probably needs a better scan of the cover and back cover, as they are slightly worn. Enjoy
  23. Thanks Meppi, I appreciate it. I have many more mags that aren't on the site that I am preparing to scan as I have time. Got Gamefan April 1997, Vol 5 Iss 4 done and ready to upload, it is going to Rapidshare now, if you don't mind, will anyone let me know what I need to do to make it better? I realise now, that it is 80 percent done, at 9KB a second upload, that I didn't resize the images. I know I need to do that on the future releases. I would like any comments anyone would like to leave about it as I want to help out as much as possible.

    Gamego! Issue #2

Hey everyone, I am posting a link for GameGo! issue #2. I hope this helps the site out. It is a straight download from the companies, now defunct, website so I have no idea how I would word the downloaded from section of the text file. Anyhow, it is here for whomever wants to convert it from PDF over to regular JPG's and finish whatever necessary editing needs to be done to it. Link removed-against the current cut off of 1999. Goodnight everyone. TriVerse P.S. I am going to upload Gamefan April 1997, Vol 5 Iss 4 tomorrow, is it ok to upload it to rapid share then post here so it can be moved to it's proper place? I contacted Phillyman about the FTP thing but have yet to hear back. I am sure he is quite busy.
  25. Looking at the scans, I will definitely have resize the mag scans. They are around 2000+X3000+ in size, way to big according to the wiki, lol. I am going to download a couple issues from here and see how they were done and try to emulate that, any suggestions as to which ones would be good examples to follow? Thanks for the help everyone, I am excited to be finally be helping out with such a great effort, I remember working on a few things for the now defunct GameGo! Magazine and feeling so down in the dumps when it was discontinued (I was going to be featured in Tales of Hardcore, I believe in issue #3). I have issue one (in print) and the never released issue #2 (in PDF) if they are needed here. I will look and see, if they aren't up, I may scan/upload them first since there are only two of them.
