Many members, myself have been embedding Youtube vids here on RM for weeks now. As long as the videos don't break the rules here (excessive blood, swearing, etc) I don't see why you couldn't post it.

Nyxquest (if You Get Only One Wiiware Game, Make It This One)
triverse replied to triverse's topic in Retromags News
Um, Hidinger, that is a preview I have available there. I don't have access to a guaranteed unbiased review from one of the staff at UNG (the only review I have seen is the one from IGN there). When I know a review is made available, the link will definitely be posted here. As far as getting E3 or any other gaming convention passes, we could. It is real simple. Just costs money to set everything up on the business end of RM (like through UNG I have been invited to visit Bioware and some other companies' offices). -
OK, the Sega Genesis turns 20 Friday, since we can't really do much for it other than post fun stories and such we have been thinking about other things we could do to get some participation going around here. So, how about who can come up with the best Genesis adertisement ever? It can be from a magazine we have released here, it could be from your personal collection that may not be available. Just scan it and post it. Of course there will surely be someone to put up the "Genesis does what Nintendon't" ads, but come on guys and gals, there were a plethora of great ads for the Genesis and it's games, this is not restricted to the system, if you have a fave ad for a Genesis game/peripheral/whatever let's see it! While we are at it, anyone have any Genesis related trivia? I will start: Who was the original bad guy in the Sonic games? (hint it would have changed history had Sega not changed it).

Nyxquest (if You Get Only One Wiiware Game, Make It This One)
triverse replied to triverse's topic in Retromags News
No worries about me getting paid for covering the game (UNG is much like RM, a volunteer project at this time), I may end up having to spend money to cover NyxQuest more since we have not received a download code yet-while other sites have, not sure what is going on there). -
Nyxquest (if You Get Only One Wiiware Game, Make It This One)

According toRob Alvarez de Lara in that interview I did with him: UNG- Is Downloadable Content a possibility for NyxQuest or is that option removed for Wii Ware games? OtTG- More than DLC, we are thinking about the option for new chapters. So, taking that into account, there will probably be some form of expansion to the game in the form of DLC but if the critics are anything to by: http://wii.ign.com/articles/101/1012701p1.html Sounds like it is a fairly complete game, although they may expand it with DLC that was removed for various reasons to meet their release date in Europe (some of the removed stuff is mentioned in the interview). -
I think the thing that Final Fight has over most other scrolling fighting games like it is that it really "feels" right. It feels like you are connecting with those punches and attacks. Other games mostly feel like you are simple hitting paper mache figures, there is no tactile response onscreen so to speak. It is hard to explain.

Yeah, both of those D&D themed arcade games by Capcom fall in the beat em up category. Night Slashers is pretty cool too, don't find many people that know about it.

Thanks to tinman for the above scan.

Can Vectrex be considered a fail though? Wasn't it held back (kind of like the 3DO) by the manufacturer then dropped?
-
I disagree with a couple of those game consoles as they are not "dead" they are having games still released for them (may be dead as far as the commerial companies but not the homebrewers. Colecovision: Ghost n Zombies GDG/HH Atari Lynx: Songbird Productions would like to dispute that claim GDG/HH Atari Jaguar: See Lynx Good Deal Games/Homebrew Heaven also disputes this one Atari 7800: GDG/HH CD-i: GDG/HH Vectrex: GDG/HH

Over the Top Games, developers of NyxQuest, have just announced that their wonderful Greek themed game is now available on WiiWare in North America for 1,000 Wii Points (about $10)! This game has been compared to Kid Icarus, though it is not related to KI in any way other than theme. For more information about Over th Top Games and NyxQuest you can check out some articles I have completed Preview of NyxQuest Gameplay video Interview with Rob Their accolades So what are you waiting for? Fire up your Wii's and buy the game already!

Neo Geo Pocket Color Turned 10 Years Old On 8/06/2009
triverse posted a topic in Retro Video Gaming!
I am just a little behind on this one (as usual it seems lately) but the Neo Geo Pocket Color turned 10 years old 2 days ago. Anyone have one, ever want one? What were your fave games, let us know here! For those that have no clue what a NGPC is, here is the wiki. -

Second Skin, a movie about the ups and downs of playing MMO's, particularly World of Warcraft is available on Hulu (ad supported) and in select theaters. Just for kicks, here is the hulu video for your enjoyment. It is just over 1 and a half hours long so it may take a bit to cache it. If the video isn't working you can goto Hulu.com and watch it here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/87648/second-skin

Very nice site there, thank you for posting that. Please, if you find more like this, post them, they are great trips down memory lane.

Makes you wonder don't it? I am surprised that my little comments in some of my posts have gone by unnoticed and no one has even claimed they have seen them. lol (Hidinger, I will send you a PM with the newest one so you can see what I mean).

Hi RchUncleSkeleton and lukas, welcome to Retromags. It is great to have such varied members coming aboard, look around, check out the various threads and forum areas and just jump in! We are all a pretty laid back group and are interested in hearing your ideas about things, if you have a concern or comment about something say it, let us know what is going on. I am sure that with the great group we have here, someone will be able to help you out with anything. Just please, be careful about ROM talk, that is really the only main concern we have around here, that and asking for that is newer than December 1999 or attacking other members (outside of the battle system we have available for those interested in some PvP action). Again, welcome to Retromags, it is great to have you both here. RchUncleSkeleton, do you have any music that has been published? lukas, you will enjoy some stuff we have coming up like the Retro Advertisement area. We are working hard on expanding that beyond the few systems that are represented right now (don't worry, your favorite systems will see coverage there sooner than later).

Here you go for the info about what the regulars are working on: http://www.retromags.com/forums/List-Every...ress-t3759.html That is a thread that has everyone's list of work in progress's, most have lists of their available mags and then the issue they are working on now. There will always be those one shot members though that come out of nowhere and donate something, we don't really have any control or intent of forcing people to post their stuff, it is a request and as you can see, many members are willing to help with this too. After checking out a few of those WIP's you might want to drop any potential members that have stuff you have a note (or start a WIP list for yourself over there and it will be added to the list so others can keep track of what your doing too). If you have mostly Commodore stuff, I know that your only real competition with older magazines like Compute!, Ahoy! and such would Waremonger. If you are interested in helping complete the Electronic Games set from the early 80's, then you would have Waremonger and Kitsune and the occasional new member like Crookedmouth that came out of nowhere and released an awesome issue and now is up to two EG's (with more to come). Don't worry about offending me, or really anyone else, I mean, unless you seriously go out of your way to do it, there really shouldn't anyone getting upset over a post. We did have a WIP site setup but hardly anyone used it. It was cumbersome at best but if it could have been streamlined for members to add their stuff, it would have been great as you could see who had what and what issues were at what percent completed. We ended up letting it go after it was discussed and we only had maybe 4 or 5 members actually using it. We try and guide the memberbase in ways but we can't really "require" something like members posting their stuff or telling them to report to anyone that they are working on this or that (it is great when members use the available thread and post a WIP so it can be gathered in the sticky for the topic but there are many members that simply don't do that). Thanks for your continuing interest and insight on stuff, it is greatly appreciated and I wish more members were vocal about their ideas and concerns (no one is going to bite your head off for stuff like this, if they do and I, or any of the other mods here see it, they will be dealt with accordingly, we are a team and there is no place for ridiculing members for their ideas).

First up, my apologies for having missed this post. Thanks for the contribution, I don't see it in the downloads section or on the FTP. Has Philly gotten back to you on this? Second, take what Tony said, it is really great advice (the trimming may seem excessive but it really does make the final release look so much better to not have those edges there). Can you post a set of 5 or so pages in a zip file (not necessarily a CBR file, just a zip) for others to check out and offer help with you with recommendations?
-
In light of issues such as EGM #90 though, we would have to do 3 parts (it is 219 or so megs) then there are issues like EGM December 1994 it is at about 350 or so megs in it's Raw form.
-
Well, that wasn't my intent. lol Besides, everything that happens here that I can get to happen is the result of the whole team working together.
-
I don't mean to make anyone jealous but I have even more time than that since I am self employed and work out of my home so when I have down time there, it is a matter of minimizing a window or switching windows and I am off doing something for RM or UNG. Real quick commute.
-
Good luck. I recently took a sample test for the A+ certification and failed (because I know nothing of Laser Printers). It was one of those that tell you what you missed so you can brush up. Keep a clear head and all of that stuff, but since you have those other certs, I am sure you know this already.
