  1. Hey, did anyone happen to archive EGM's "Lost issue" February, 2009 issue (number 237)
  2. Yeah. Not a good sign. I only browsed through it a bit, but I didn't see any mention in the Editor's intro. Weird.. my avatar is still showing as "No Permission" even though it showed it in my profile settings and I logged out/in. It's kind of cool looking as far as default avatars go. I feel like I am breaking the rules!
  3. Proof the #256 issue is real. I finally received it.
  4. They didn't produce a July/August 2012 issue. They were so delayed that they just changed #256 to Sep/Oct. I don't see them making it into 2013.
  5. Well, EGM July/August DOES NOT EXIST according to someone at the EGM help line. They said they were having printer issues. (thought I think it's a little bit of everything causing problems) So they've now made issue #256 the Sep/Oct 2012 issue and you should have received it by now, assuming you are subbed that is. I expect to hear an official cancelation very soon.
  6. Glad to see Nintendo refunding. I have 4 years left so I'd rather have $80 than some other mag. I'll end up spending it on a Retro Gamer subscription. Also, I called EGM again today and spoke to a woman who actually sounded like she knew what was going on with them. She told me the July/August issue never went to print because they had "printer problems". So now they've made issue #256 the Sep/Oct issue. And she told me I should have had that one 2 weeks ago.. What a mess this magazine has become. So if you guys are subbed and you want your Sep/Oct 2012 issue of "Electronic Gaming Whenever" You better call 'em!
  7. I had a feeling this would happen sooner than later. I enjoyed receiving them, but honestly it was more out of the fact I have been collecting since July 1987, and FCN since issue 1 prior to that. It's by far the longest subscription I've had in my life and it's sad to see it end. That being sad, does anyone know if they have a plan for people with years left on their subscription? For some reason I thought it was a great idea to pay for multiple years and ended up with an expiration date of October of 2016. I would hope for a refund of the remaining issues since I don't like any of Future's other mags. I emailed them and haven't received a response and when I posted asking this on Nintendo's Facebook page it was prompty deleted. In a related note, did EGM secretly pass on? Their customer service is in the dark (more than usual). They seem to think the April issue was the last one printed. When I told them I haven't received the July/August '12 issue they first told me they would send a new copy, then someone called me back saying it never went to print. Maybe Steve Harris forgot to pay these people and they are delirious from starvation or something.
  8. So they are sending Sep/Oct? I don't even have any proof that July/August made it to print. The EGM customer service are pretty cludeless. I wouldn't be surprised if they sent you Sep/Oct of 2011.
  9. So a week ago I emailed EGM (egm@emailcustomerservice.com) and told them I haven't received the July/Aug 2012 issue #256 and received this reply.... And today I receive another issue #254 Mar/Apr 2012... Great! :( It's the only issue I've actually received so far from my $25 subscription and now I have 3 copies of it. So has anyone seen a sign of the July/Aug 2012 issue of EGM?
  10. Question of the month... Has anyone received the July/August 2012 (#256) issue of EGM?
  11. Honestly, EGM should just focus on their future rather than the past and try to stay afloat. Copyrights from all of the old adverts would be a nightmare for them. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes in to scanning an entire magazine - as many of you already know. I would compensate anyone who scanned/cleaned the old mags if they are selling it. 50/50 profit share seems fair. They should be a re-review or something where they look back at their older reviews and comment on that. That way they are using their past resources and keeping it interesting for long time members. Though there biggest hurdle may be looking back on 20+ year old reviews without snickering at the lingo they used.. "NUFF SAID"
  12. It would be nice, but they would probably have to change the advertising. Also, you can get a 13 issue subscription in the USA if you use the code YOUTUBE when ordering from https://imagine.subs...les/retro-gamer This will bring it from 80 GBP to 50 (50.00 GBP = $76.8151 USD) So 13 issues for $77 it's not too bad a deal. $6.40/issue (My calculator was still open) Considering the Global shipping and all, this is a very fair price. Oh and if you do some day decide to sell them, the going rate is an average of $15-$30 ea. I sold a few dupes recently.
  13. My favorite memories with EGM were 1990-91. Tons of Genesis games coming out with SNES on the horizon. I remember seeing the first shots of Super Mario World and thinking how amazing and fun it looked. Trying to imagine what the hell "Mode 7" was and how it would make a game like Pilot Wings play nothing nothing else we've seen on a home console. EGM magazines were blowing up to the size of store catalogs, all jammed packed with screen shots, reviews, and rumors. Those were the days! Unfortunately it will never be like that again. The internet and instant info has changed everything. I think EGM should take some cues (or Q's) from Retro Gamer Magazine and have some more retro retro reviews and look back on their own history and interview game developers from the golden years of gaming. They have a huge amount of great memories they could be tapping into. Let's face it, if people want game news they will simply check Joystiq, GameTrailers, Kotaku, etc..
  14. I've been subscribed to Fanzines with better customer support than EGM. If you try asking the most simplest of questions over the phone they are totally stumped. I asked a simple question, "which number is the May/June 2012 issue?"... just to be sure he was going to request the correct issue, and he said "Sorry, I really have no idea". This of course after the line I get each time they don't send me an issue "Would you like me to add an issue onto your subscription?" ... I said "No thanks. It's already extended into 2015 and I doubt the magazine will make it that far."
  15. Thanks for letting us know. At this point I'm not sure if it's good news or not.. To be honest I would be happier if I received an issue of EGM with the cover saying "THIS IS IT... THE LAST ISSUE OF EGM" with a check for the remaining issues they owe me. No offense to any of the reviewers or other people that work for the mag (well, maybe the jerks working the email who rarely reply to an email), but I hate having a 1 out of 10 chance of receiving something that I have clearly paid for in advance. It's not right for them to do that. You don't go to the store and buy a book and flip a coin to see if you can leave the store with it.. Actually those odds are better than receiving an EGM in the mail. I'm mainly still buying EGM because I don't want to have a 99.9% complete collection, but really I can live without all of the grief. It's not worth it.
  16. Hopefully NP continues for a while. I'm subscribed through 2016 (back since 2004). I highly doubt they would offer any type of refund on that if it were canceled. Retro Gamer is a decent magazine. It has a bit more computer coverage (Spectrum, Amstrad, etc..) than I care for. I would prefer less of that and more arcade game history, but that's only because I never owned those.
  17. Hey man. They eventually ended up sending me the Mar/Apr '12 issue, but now I'm left wondering yet again if there is going to be another issue for May/June. Their customer support is pretty non-existent. I'm in the same boat as you. I had issues remaining on the last EGM sub, and I have a strong feeling the same will happen here since I am renewed until late 2014. I used to talk to Steve Harris on a pretty regular basis. He first contacted me to ask if he could use all of my cover scans, which of course I let him.. How could I not?! He has seemed to disappeared from Facebook and email which is never a good sign. The printed mags are falling like dominoes, and with the Kindle Fire and iPad selling in record numbers, I think the printed magazine's fate is sealed. So has anyone spotted a May/June EGM hard copy yet? I emailed customer support, but of course they haven't replied (Other than the standard generated reply)
  18. I finally received a reply: We apologize for the delay in responding to your email. We had contacted our home office regarding your missing issues. We have requested a replacement March/April 2012 issue be sent to you. We have also requested a copy of the January/February 2012 issue be sent to you, as we have now received additional stock. They should arrive within 2-3 weeks. Please contact us again if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you for subscribing to Electronic Gaming Monthly. I'm not totally sure if that's true though. They've said this before and then later changed it to adding an issue to my subscription so I'm not holding my breath.
  19. I emailed them (egm@emailcustomerservice.com & support@egmnow.net ) and all I get is the generic response now: Please do not reply to this message. We have received your recent email message and will process your request promptly. We will contact you further only if we need additional information. Thank you, Subscriber Services Department EGM But they never send an actual reply! Great customer service. I think they've ended their magazine. In fact Steve Harris used to reply to my emails and he stopped as well. At this point I hope they've canceled it. There is no use dragging out a death like this. They should refund people's money and certainly STOP taking new paid subscriptions ASAP.
  20. I haven't even received an issue from EGM since mid-2011 and nothing on my resub.. I guess I should demand a refund or something since I never use the web version. They just keep adding issues to my (imaginary) subscription.. I'm into mid 2013 now for my expiration date. Which would be fine if they ACTUALLY SENT ANYTHING!! I was just curious if anyone is getting hard copies of EGM anymore. I had to buy the last 3 from eBay.
  21. I've never sold a console to buy a new one. I just add to the pile.
  22. Thanks man. Remember the days when they used to say "receive your issues before they hit the newsstand"? I guess I should be happy they are hitting anything at this point.
  23. Can anyone else confirm the November/December issue of EGM (print edition) being out? If they don't send me this issue I'm going to request a refund. I only subbed for the magazine and my online code has not worked in months either. I really wish Steve Harris had put more money into hiring better customer service reps. They aren't very helpful.
  24. I'm not 100% on if I'm missing anything or not at this point. Each time I ask I get a different reply from their customer service. They didn't know if the EGM printed mag went bi-monthly either. I have received the Sep/Oct issue, and told me to expect an Oct/Nov issue which I suppose is the one I won't receive since I received this a few days ago telling me they are out of print on the October's issue.
