  1. I can fit about 20-25 magazines in a $10.70 flat rate box PM me if you are interested.
  2. Here's a few pics of some of the magazines I'm trying to pass onto another home: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/vgm/1800631870.html Let me know if you are interested in anything
  3. Triverse, are you only looking for pre-2000 magazines only? Which magazines are you interested in purchasing?
  4. I agree. If people get irritated by the flurry of tweets, they can unfollow. I vote to just leave it the way it is
  5. Twitter is essentially the same thing as RSS. I like it because I can see which magazines have been submitted without having to visit the site and search
  6. Why not have 3 separate Twitter accounts for the 3 types of information: RetromagsMags, RetromagsNews, RetromagsBlogs. This way people who want to follow all 3 types of news can do so and those who don't want to see new file submissions won't. If someone is upset about 5-10 tweets a day, they can unfollow. If twitter brings in tons of new traffic, I would think it is more important than a few select people unfollowing, especially if they are already involved in the project or members of the site.
  7. After the 23 issues are scanned, will that complete the magazine collection through Dec. 1999?
  8. Here's a link to a page with lots more fatalities http://bit.ly/dqJTMz
  9. Check out this video in 1080p to see how awesome the game is going to look!
  10. Part of the problem is the Youtube video is very poor. This looks awesome and it appears this will be the year I increase my video game time as opposed to playing less and less every year. I'm super excited about all the retro games being redone on the Wii. Glad I bought a Wii and not a PS3 or Xbox 360 this year.
  11. I just finished watching the trailer here: It looks like it will be as good as the latest Mario game for Wii, which blew away all my expectations. I can't wait for this new DKC to come out!
  12. In my opinion, DKC2 is in the top 5 SNES games of all time. In fact, that and Super Metroid are probably tied for 1st on my list.
  13. I saw this ad on Craigslist. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/vgm/1716357249.html I have no idea if he has sold it yet, but an email would quickly clear that up. I also don't know what he means by "lots of 1990". Unfortunately, I don't have time to scan anymore. I'm about 2 miles from Fullerton, so if anyone is interested and wants to foot the bill for shipping, let me know.
  14. I've updated the list to reflect those magazines that have already been sold and mailed out. There are a few still reserved, but the rest are fair game.
  15. Thanks for reminding me! I forgot to mark them back to all "Reserved". Haha, I should have waited for your PM before changing them back to available. That's what I get for being impatient
  16. I did. The sad thing is that lately the GamePros have both been extremely thin (~80 pages) and lacking any good content. One thing I loved about the older magazines is they were filled with tons of reviews. Nowadays, the magazine consists of 4 or 5 page in-depth articles about games that don't really interest me and 2-5 reviews. That's it, 2-5 reviews. They also have gotten rid of most of the small regular sections that I loved. Unfortunately, I am on the fence about whether I should let my subscription lapse next January. However, this just makes my enthusiasm about the RetroMags project that much greater. I can now see myself in a year or 2 sitting on the couch with an Ipad looking over old magazines
  17. I've updated the list again to reflect those magazines that have already been purchased and/or mailed.
  18. One way you can halt your addiction is to ask your wife how she really feels about you spending some much money, time, and space on the stuff you buy. Recently, I've come to realize that collecting stuff is nice, but if you never use it or feel like it's not fun anymore, sell it. The reality is that most stuff, if you change your mind 5 years down the road, can be bought again. Yes, it may be expensive, but it's probably not and just has sentimental value. I used to be a hoarder, but now have embraced the simple life where anything I don't use for a year or so is put on CraigsList or thrown out. I actually have been holding onto my SNES console, but now that I know most of the good games can be purchased again on the WII, I may put it up for sale. It's been collecting dust for the last 5 years.
  19. The first step is to admit you have a problem...
  20. Haha, I almost had a heart attack because I just sent Eday a package and it contains an EGM Buyer's Guide but I think it's 1991 or 1992. If it was a 1989, he would have got it for a steal because we agreed on $1 per mag, not including shipping. Haha.
  21. I agree that is outrageous DRM. I wouldn't buy a game that had that type of DRM. I'd hope that developers would release a patch after determining that forcing the user to have a consistent connection is ridiculous. If not, I'd probably not buy that type of game. Also, usually there is enough bad press from a stupid move like that which reverses their future decisions on DRM. When Itunes first started, it had DRM. Apple eventually realized it was a stupid move. I guess PC game developers have yet to learn that decision. Fortunately for me I don't need to have a game when it is first available. I'm usually a year or 2 behind the normal PC gamer. I'm also "casual" enough that I don't need to (and can't) play every great game out there.
  22. Pc game manufacturers are definitely getting more crafty. In the last 6 months, I downloaded both GTA4 and Arkham Asylum illegaly. I spent about an hour trying to get GTA4 to work, but eventually gave up, figuring it wasn't worth spending most of my Saturday trying to get a $30 game to work. I just asked for it for Christmas. I'm not sure if the creators of the Batman game knew about this or not, but there was a place about 1/3 of the way through that you couldn't get to with a cracked version. Genius on their part because it gets the user hooked on the game. I eventually bought the game off the MS site when it was $12.50 a few weeks ago for the download. The bottom line for me is that if I have to spend hours trying to get it to work, it's not worth it. Frequently cracked games have all kinds of problems and sometimes never work at all. If I really want a game, I'll just either save for it or work a little more. The older you get, the less time (and patience) you have to deal with hacks While the DRM is annoying, I'm not going to stop playing great PC games because of it.
  23. I've updated the list to reflect dibs called so far in this color
