  1. I agree with you on that point. My personal emulators of choice are: Project64 ... I still play Mario64, Waverace64 and Banjo Kazooie on that. I have a Nintendo to USB adapter so I use a real N64 gamepad with that Dolphin ... considering the level of difficulty emulating the Gamecube and Wii it's great!!! I use a Nintendo Wii with nunchuk using Bluetooth with this PSPPP ... for those games that run it's a blast ePSXe ... as kitsunebi77 said, it's a pretty stellar emulator for PSX. I use it to play the intro to Soul Blade on occasion. God it's good ...... DesMuME ... really acceptable NDS emulator when I want to try a little Mario Kart I actually use emulators for all things retro nowadays as I gave away my computer/console collection a few years ago.
  2. Microsoft have been talking about bringing original Xbox games to the Xbox One now that they have Xbox 360 emulation running pretty well on the console. Given both the oldest and newest console are PC hardware based I should think it wouldn't be a difficult task for them if they choose to make it happen.
  3. Geez!!! I think you probably need to take some time out mate. I think you're the sole mag cover uploader around here and I don't think anybody cares all that much that you've been slaving your guts out for the last year. Well, it certainly hasn't been all that obvious that people enjoy your gallery submissions which kinda sucks. It's especially sad that RetroCDN has caused you to stop scanning mags when the fact is the internet is the wild wet nowadays and anything anyone scans is going to end up somewhere, be it them or Archive.org or friggin' TOSEC. I am committed to preserving magazines first and foremost. If I wasn't I'd have shut down OGM ages ago or after the WordPress site bellied up a couple of months ago and saved myself the costs of file hosting etc along with the hassles of running such a site . I put it back up because of the mags and a small group of guys who want to get their collections preserved in digital format. I could have just given Jason and the others direct access to my NAS and gone down the "scan for ourselves" path but we both like the fact that at least we're progressing the preservation of content that might otherwise disappear and making it available for everyone to enjoy.
  4. I scan a magazine because I want to scan it. I edit someone's raw scans because I want to edit that particular issue. Nothing else factors into my decisions around what I choose to devote my time to as a general rule. That's why I have been editing Dan's scans of Nintendo World. I find it more appealing than N64 Magazine which caused much gnashing of verbal teeth by a vociferous one or two site visitors when I was running WordPress. That just made me even more determined to process what I liked rather than letting others choose my path for me. I tell all the guys scanning for me to do the same thing. All that happens is people risk becoming jaded if they simply scan/edit stuff because it's there. There are perks to being a scanning member of the site though
  5. Hiya mate, I understand your comments and agree wholeheartedly with them. However, given the nature of the costs I am using a fairly old platform for the site as a freeware forum like SMF doesn't do much of anything other than be a forum and IP.Board that Retromags runs on is hundreds of dollars to acquire and is simply out of my financial reach. Site members can comment but unfortunately every time I open registrations I get bombarded with spam sign-ups. Same happened with opening comments to non-members. The anti-spam add-ons for PHP-Fusion require a fair bit of tinkering in the database etc to get them working and I didn't want to screw the site over after getting it up and running so that's where I am at currently. On top of that my ISP disables port 25 outgoing traffic on consumer plans so I cannot use the softwares built in email verification feature either which would save alot of manual work. However, I made it known if people want to sign up they can email me and I will happily create an account for them but seriously, NO-ONE even bothered to ask. Not a single person ...... That's the nature of running a site I guess. Damned if you, damned if you don't. Most people never even bothered to comment when it was an open WordPress site. They are just there to leech and run. I'd rather they didn't bother me than have to moderate the heck out of the site to be honest when it comes to people like that.

  13. Next up we have Computer Games issue 184
  14. That's exactly what I was saying all along. Sort by date with issue numbers a secondary feature ........
  15. Okay, back from the brink and the first scan by me for Kiwis.World (OGM will also point there very soon now) is Computer Games issue 180
  16. Yeah, sorry for the slowness getting back to you. The new site is now kiwis.world but oldgamemags will resolve there as well as soon as things have settled down. As I am scanning diverse content I think OGM doesn't reflect what is now available on the site and if others want to add non-gaming specific titles (electronics/anime etc) I am all for it if they are out of publication and won't attract the ire of the publishers. Still lots to do over there. I have all the download links back up and running but info on the magazines still need to be added as I find time. Same goes for getting cover scans added to the gallery but I'd rather get back into scanning mags and do updates to those as I can. BTW, happy to hear marktrade is okay. Must have been some op to lay him low for a couple of months or more recuperating. Glad he's taking the time to get himself right. This is a hobby first and foremost and everything else should always come first.
  17. My website is currently down like I transition away from WordPress due to database corruption issues. I anticipate getting it back up in a few weeks.
  18. Marktrade's raw scans of Play issue 44 get the treatment and the PDF is now available over at OGM

  24. The chances of me visiting Japan is pretty much never. The Orient/Asia is just somewhere I have never particularly had an inclination to visit for some reason.
  25. Yep, that's a much better analogy in that "nigger" is a derogatory term while "Jap" to me is just a shortened easier to write or say version of "Japan" with no other connotations as far as I am concerned. I believe that's why Disney never released "Song of the South" on home formats as the slavery aspect made them uncomfortable even though as a historical document is was very important as it represented the first release of a title incorporating animation with live acting. It's a shame the word will no doubt affect the accuracy of Peter Jackson's remake of The Dambusters
