  1. Something way different is up next with Computer Pilot Vol.04 Issue 04 now available over at OGM for flight sim enthusiasts!!!
  2. Oh ...damn ... I forgot to grease it before uploading
  3. Next up we have Computer Games issue 140. That should be right up kitsunebi77's alley
  4. Another of ALex1's gets a scan, this time it's issue 01 of Ultimate Future Games.
  5. Meppi certainly does do a great job BUT he hasn't been well over the last couple of years and is a one man band so updates are not the fastest as even he would probably agree. That might be something to factor into your decision as if you were expecting your magazines to be released reasonably quickly over at OoPA you might be out of luck. Additionally, like me, and Phillyman, I think think he has a LOT of magazines awaiting scanning.
  6. ???? Did you test the [Insert other media] > Insert image from URL option? That one appears borked when I try to add the OGM URL for the image. It won't do anything. It worked a few days ago on the previous image but not yesterdays one. I used the "Drag here to attach" function to get that image up yesterday. At least that worked so I know what to do here on out ....
  7. In addition to all the above mentioned magazines that arrived we also have a little beauty. According to the Retromags database issue 09 of Computer Games (1983) published by Carnegie Publications Corp. is now available at OGM ... quite a different beast to the Computer Games:Strategy Plus magazine. I'd include a cover image except that the "Insert other media" feature is no longer working by the look of it for external image URL's as it won't do anything even though it worked a couple of days ago I added it as an attachment .....
  8. I hear you loud and clear. It's hard enough getting donations to help with postage for magazines let alone trying to cover hardware costs. If my Fujitsu dies there's no way I can afford to replace it so it will be back to a flatbed scanner and likely one magazine scanned a week. And I can't really get away with using an A4 document scanner due to the volume of oversize magazines in my collection. It's a quandry we face when trying to justify such costs on what is only a hobby.
  9. WOW!!! Just received a package, well, three packages from Cameron today. I now have a HUGE pile of Computer Games: Strategy Plus issues to scan. In case anyone is interested the issues are: 60,69,89,90,92,93,95,99,100,119,121,123,135,137,140,143,145,146,148,150,151,152,153,155,156,157-160,162-164,167,169,172-176,178-180,184-186,191,195,196 In addition to that I also have eighteen issues of Computer Pilot, an Australian mag devoted to flight sims. This lot cost way, way more in postage than what Cameron charged me so if anyone who is into these wants to help out please consider donating over at OGM via PAYPAL so I can send him additional funds. He's made the mags available for free so any help covering the postage shortfall getting these to me for scanning I am guessing will be much appreciated.
  10. I just hadn't replied to this due to time zone differences. Anyways , my fave DOS games in no particular order were: Duke Nukem 3D - nothing more need be said Command and Conquer - yep, the first one was DOS based. Still great even today.... Dune II - man those sand worms ..... Jane's Advanced Tactical Fighters - made even my Pentium 90 groan. I bought the P90 because it killed by 486 DX-100 Chuck Yeager's Air Combat ... McDonnell Douglas Phantom vs ME-109's anyone? Quake - made me purchase a Rendition 3D video card just to play this Ultima Underworld II - Stygian Abyss (I can't believe this didn't make Areala's list) UFO - Enemy Unknown - Turn based strategy game excellence
  11. Another of Alex1's donations gets scanned, this time issue 12 of Ultimate Future Games. Look at that lovely fluro orange
  12. Nintendo Magazine System (UK) issue 45 is now available thanks to Alex1.
  13. PC Format issue 36 is now available over at OGM ......
  14. When my nephew comes to town we tend to play: Dreamcast - Soul Calibur and SF Rush 2049 Wii - Mart Kart Wii M.A.M.E - Jackal (my favorite arcade game) Joust My personal favorites on PC that I continually revisit are: BF1942 Battlefield 2 Battlezone 2 (glorious 3D FPS + RTS all-in-one and most underplayed game EVER) Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
  15. I'm not blocking any IP's other than five or six individual ones and only to prevent then posting in comments section. Other than that .... nada .... so not sure why you had that particular issue to be honest.
  16. You did forget PDF's have the ability to have bookmarking or indexing/chapters and hot linking to external content. In other words .CBR's are dumb and PDF's are intelligent Seriously though, I don't think he was being aggressive or anything like that. And it is a fair question. Most sites use PDF files and you can get freeware tools to create a PDF (even from a CBR/CBZ/zip file etc using ComicRack for example) so this question has popped up here in the past. I use PDF exclusively over at OGM as I like the format and I can specify page display information within individual issues such as Cover+two page side by side viewing which I prefer. But that's just me. I offered to host PDF versions of all Retromags content over there and vice versa for CBR versions of OGM content to be available here to Phillyman a while ago but I never got an answer so that never progressed any further. Probably because our libraries of content are so large that the costs of increasing Google Drive or Mediafire accounts or server storage for Retromags is rather prohibitive although there are ways around it.
  17. Edge (UK) issue 35 is now available thanks to Alex1.
  18. Some sites prefer .CBR and others prefer .PDF files. No need to make an epic tome about the differences etc. All one needs to say is Retromags prefers .CBR. End of story
  19. Nintendo Magazine System (UK) issue 46 is now available thanks to Alex1.
  20. Yet more Nintendo goodness today with Nintendo Magazine System (UK) issue 36 now available thanks to Alex1.
  21. Just to let everyone know that Alex1 sent me the mags packaged excellently and they are really nice condition. Any scanning members here on Retromags looking at his magazines for the purposes of scanning for the site can rest assured that he delivered as promised for me and I have no hesitation in acquiring further mags from him if required. Any issues of his that I process will be noted on my W.I.P page and if someone wants to convert them to CBR format and make them available here go for it. Can a Mod look at changing his status to reflect his donations please?
  22. I never thought I'd get any more of these released but thanks to Alex1 we now have issue 14 of Ultimate Future Games available over at OGM. Wow!!!
  23. Another of Alex1's recent donations gets scanned. This time it's issue 48 of Nintendo Magazine System (UK). Grab it over at OGM.
  24. I don't downsize the pages after scanning them (most people here seem to drop the vertical height to 2200 or 2400 pixels) therefore my scans tend to be somewhat bigger than those on Retromags.
  25. Retromags member Alex1 forwarded a lovely package of mags half way around the world to me, God bless him, and as a result CVG issue 154, one of the previously unscanned issues, is now available over at OGM. If you are into UK mags this is probably a must read
