  1. Computer Games: Strategy Plus issue 16 is now available at OGM.
  2. Yep ... Leisure Line was put out by Leisure Industries to entice amusement owners to purchase their wares
  3. Good work on that. I tried to remove it before scanning but the glue had hardened and it lifted the ink off so I left it as-is.
  4. 270 downloads

Removed a price sticker on the front cover as well as some fold creases on the poster on the last page, but otherwise, these are Kiwi's edits
  5. 208 downloads

Fixed damage on a couple of pages and adjusted levels slightly to reduce yellowing, but otherwise these are Kiwi's edits.
  6. There are a few English arcade oriented magazines as well ..... GameRoom Magazine - dedicated to all things arcade but with heavy emphasis on pinball (discontinued 2008. Rights purchased but nothing has ever come of it that I am aware regarding restarting publication) Play Meter - nice looking magazine going way, way back (1979 at least) and still in production today Leisure Line - Australian publication aimed at arcade outlets. I have several available on my website (discontinued) Cashbox International - another Australian magazine (discontinued)
  7. 243 downloads

Levels have been slightly adjusted to reduce yellowing, but otherwise these are Kiwi's edits
  8. 216 downloads

Back when I converted this to cbr for my own personal use (I'm not a fan of PDF, so sue me) I repaired some damage on a few of the pages and very slightly adjusted the levels to lessen the yellowing of the paper, but otherwise these are Kiwi's edits, with resolution left as is.
  9. Yeah, I released marktrade's scans over at OGM because at the time: The mags weren't in the database even though he'd asked for them to be added and nothing much was happening, likely because of trying to figure out number/dates of issues released etc He was okay with my making his scans available at OGM In the case of his raw scans if I was doing the editing (PC Gamer, Play etc) it seemed reasonable to be able to make them available at OGM I downloaded his files off archive.org and for the most part simply converted them to PDF. In my W.I.P page here I have always acknowledged when making his scans available as a PDF over at OGM. Nothing has been hidden. It's simply a facet of WordPress and the page format at OGM that I have no easy way to denote individuals to specific scans other than through the front page blog posts and given most of my scanning members are actually not worried about that side of things all that much it's never really been an issue until our current "cross pollination" brought it into focus. The main issue I have now is that some files like VG & CE June 1991 issue was submitted I think by my scanning guy PirateDragon before the last rebuild of the website so the original blog post was lost. E-Day wants to make files available here and I simply cannot recall EXACTLY who submitted it. My personal view of this is: make any files available on OGM that are currently not on Retromags available here as you feel like it. Some scans form some members are not as great as I personally would like but something is better than nothing or mort's old scans so I tend to be a little more tolerant than I used to be. Assign the submitter as OGM but if marktrade or someone else says they were his simply change the information. At the end of the day this is all about preserving magazines rather than some sort of pissing contest over who submitted what. I simply made everything on OGM available to E-Day and Phillyman because if someone has already scanned an issue it makes sense to save duplication of effort.
  10. Correct!! As far as I can recall all I did with marktrade's scans was clean up the covers somewhat (if necessary) then repackage the files as a PDF so I think my PDF's were indeed pretty close in size to the CBR file on archive.org. I had no intention of submitting his scans, especially those that were not raw scans here as I assumed he would do so himself as and when the database got created. Where things have gotten messy regarding this is that I made an offer to Phillyman to host whatever files OGM has over here on Retromags if he so desires as our sites are closely aligned (I'm here, I'm there) and I was happy to make my scans available if he wanted to use them (especially USA mags). He in turn bought a lot of UK mags and sent them to marktrade to scan with the view that OGM could use them too if I wanted. Although I haven't done so with mags like SuperPlay that were edited by Depressor that's mainly because I've been snowed just getting my scanning guys mags online and trying to get the site updated properly. E-Day likely just saw the files in my Google Drive directory and seeing as they weren't here decided to grab them thinking they were mine. That's entirely my fault as WordPress doesn't have the ability to attach creator information into the image gallery so unless he waded through the front page posts he wouldn't have seen that I credited marktrade when I made the files available at the time. That's something I need to think on but given the sheer cost to purchase the software Retromags is using I can't see how I can implement anything like what we have here. As for the smaller file size ... maybe he dropped the vertical resolution rather than higher compression?
  11. Yeah, I released these at OGM as there hadn't been any progress in making them available here at the time. That was quite some time ago now and I fully expected marktrade would make them available here when the database was created eventually. By all means go for broke and replace these with super dooper versions if the urge takes you marktrade
  12. Well, I don't have many more issues of these now. I have more EGM's I think but most can't be made available here at present due to date restrictions. Please just die EGM, or confirm you're already dead so we can get Phillyman to adjust the restrictions on this title ......
  13. Pretty much if you want the best graphics bar none then you'll want a loaded PC. End of story .... Well, there is a story and that's cost. If you want great graphics you hand over the money for sure .... Steam and so forth have certainly made it a whole lot easier to install and maintain games so I consider ease of install between consoles and PC now a moot point. What really pisses me off though is companies creating software that drops to the lowest denomination for hardware. I'm looking at YOU EA!!! How you can bring out a hardcore multiplayer FPS like Battlefield One and drop support for joysticks is not just an insult, it's just plain daft. Just because you create a console version doesn't mean you code only for console controllers for a platform that has long been the first choice for flight sims etc and which has, as a result, long had a diverse range of fantastic controllers. Flying around in a biplane using a mouse or gamepad is such a crap experience. Give us back our ability to use our flight sticks please!!! End of rant .....

  18. Plenty more UK to come too although I'm currently scanning a big pile of "too new to release" mags at present to shift them into recycling. With my job being axed early next year I don't know if we might be forced to sell the house and downsize so I'm raw scanning all my new mags so I don't have to pack them. I'd rather take my older mags with me if that were to occur. Expect service to resume on PC Format / PC Gamer (UK) in a week or so....
  19. @ marktrade .....I have already scanned and released issue 14 quite a while ago which you are welcome to use here and I also have issue 11 which I am more than happy to scan to help spread the scanning load of you want me to ....
  20. Computer Games: Strategy Plus issue 14 is now available at OGM.
  21. If you have a Windows PC you can always install ComicRack. It allows to convert between formats extremely easily
  22. Yeah, I am literally swamped with raw scans from marktrade and other members of my site at present which adds to the stress of keeping the site humming along while trying to fit editing those and scanning of my own magazines. What a dilemma to be in, even if it's a good one
  23. Don't worry. It's all fixed. I'm not scanning any more issues I have far better magazines to spend my time scanning like Computer Games: Strategy Plus, PC Format, PC Gamer etc. I did make CBR versions available at one point but Sean697 said something to the effect that my scans weren't good enough hence leaving it to others to decide whether to upload them here or not. Like you I don't have any particular loyalty to these magazines.
