  1. Personally, I think it's very similar in layout and style to the early to middle age Computer Gaming World issues, which may be why I like them, and now, this thanks to marktrade and his wonderfully diverse magazine collection
  2. If you have the physical copy of issue 10 why don't you just scan the issue and create a PDF?
  3. I have a lot of scans of N64 game manuals which were on my site for ages. I also have a heap of PC game manuals from DOS days with game for for things like US Navy Fighters and Falcon 4.0 (the huge deluxe ring binder version) but I didn't think there was much interest in high res versions TBH
  4. You would need an awful lot of credits for pics of E-Day as with those they are apportioned out at 1 credit per cm of his incredible physique
  5. I have the complete collection of Win 3.1 games that they got this from and I have to say the MS-DOS games were so much better than the Win3.x lot. It was the introduction of Windows 95 that finally saw the great games of DOS migrate onto the Windows Platform. DirectX was a beautiful thing and the driving force for change .......
  6. I'm still working through getting two boxes of PC Gamer (USA) mags over from the USA. My brother has been out of State on work business quite a lot in the last few weeks so it's going slow but I hope to have shipping costs from him soon. If I can afford it I'll get both shipped at the same time. If I can't afford it hopefully I can get one shipped over which will allow me to start scanning them in bulk seeing as it along with CGW are my two fave PC magazines. Oh ahh!!! .... must scan another CGW soon ......
  7. Very nice scan kitsunebi77. That and marktrade's issue of this made my day. Love the japanese artwork. Very cluttered but somehow all the more compelling because of it. Hard to explain .....
  8. First gaming magazine I purchased was Amstrad CPC464 User issue 02 Yep, I really am that old
  9. Nothing beats PC keyboard and mouse for FPS shooters Console controllers just plain suck for those......
  10. If Steam claps it I'm good. I have physical copies of Battlezone II, BF1942 and BF2142 which are all I really still play even if I have 120+ games in my Steam Library. None of those have Securerom so no issues installing them on current OS'es. The rest of my gaming is predominantly emulation based = I'm all good
  11. Mate, you'll be surprised how many mags you can actually pump out with the iX500. If I only had A4 sized mags that would be the scanner I'd take over anything else. Jason loves his and with all the output coming out of him in recent times so do I ....
  12. The iX500 is a great little unit IF your mags are A4 size or smaller. Jason over at my site uses one for those smaller sized mags and he pumps them out fast with it which saves wear and tear on his A3 scanner. If you need A3 you can always look on eBay for something like a FI-5530c2. You can pick one of those up for a reasonable price and they also use ISIS drivers for corporate volume document scanning. If the mags you intend scanning are 2008 or earlier but don't fit in with Retromags content let me know as I could make them available over at OGM if they're vaguely gaming culture oriented and aren't likely to attract C&D's .
  13. I have a Fujitsu FI-5650c and marktrade has it's newer brother the FI-6670. Google them if you want bill-shock. LOL They do 60 pages a minute duplex so that's 120 images per minute so in theory you could scan most mags in under two minutes. They use ISIS drivers rather than TWAIN so with software like Quickscan Pro you can create a profile for a particular magazine format then simply use the same profile for every issue. That's what I do. I create a profile that chops pretty much 1mm off each edge so there's even no real editing involved at all unless the issue is skewed more than minimally or you choose to get fussy. Voila, a magazine in 5 to 10 mins if you get a rhythm going
  14. Yep, nothing like a document scanner to speed things up big time!!! I just scanned 3 paperback novels (why pay for a digital version when I have a physical copy?) and a horror movie non-fiction title, all totaling out at some 900 odd pages and it took maybe 40 mins in total to scan and process the novels into searchable PDF's and the non-fiction into a image based PDF like we have here with CBR's. There was no real clean-up done on them. This was pure scanning and compiling.....
  15. EGM issue 116 is now available over at OGM for those interested in this particular title.
  16. I have raw scans of one of his scans of FamitsuDC. Very nice indeed. I must get around to editing it......
  17. Comic Rack for Windows allows batch conversions from/to all major formats ......
  18. Hiya mate, I am editing issue 55 of Next Generation at present and think your scan of page 30 has a glitch at the bottom of the page. Can you confirm? Cheers ......
  19. I understand they screwed things up but using the release date as the prime ordering negates any issue numbering shennanigans. It was just a thought in that it lessens confusion for people not in the know when they download issue 127 and find the cover number is not what they were expecting. That's all .....
  20. The problem with relying on "Acquired" is that it falls flat on its face if the person who has the issue walks away from the scene or heaven forbid dies or something equally bad that results in their no longer being able to contribute scans. We all think we will be here forever and will eventually get around to scanning all our mags but life can be fickle at the end of the day.
  21. Oh wow!!! Six years since I posted something here. Well, I thought I'd put a word in for my website and give people an update on things over at OGM. First off ...... EGM 166 (May 2003) has been scanned and released over there for all you EGM'ers who need a post 2000 fix.Secondly ..... GamePro 138 (March 2000) is also available for those into the alternative gaming mag. Retromags denotes this as issue 128 but I opt to go with the cover number Thirdly, I have offered Phillyman my issues of PC Gamer (USA) and any EGM/GamePro issues he can make available here IF he wants them. Generally, Retromags covers USA content really well while OGM holds sway in the UK/Australian content arena so I have no real issues making USA content on my site available here as long as OGM is credited with the original scans. If you like the magazines over there please consider donating a few bucks towards the site. We are pushing out a LOT of new magazines on a daily basis and donations help in acquiring more content and assisting with keeping things like our scanners running properly. Currently I am trying to get funds together to ship a large shipment of PC Gamer (USA) magazines from USA to New Zealand for instance so any help will be much appreciated. To a large extent getting USA content scanned relies on donations as it costs a lot to ship content down under. Anyways, enjoy the latest magazines and I wish everyone well for 2016 ......
  22. Issue 110 has been scanned and is now available ....
  23. I saw this audit thread and thought it might be a good time to bring up a comment on GamePro. I see the site lists the issues differently to the cover numbers and I get it that they released special issues but wouldn't it be better to change the way these are named on the site to retain consistency with the publishers own numbering? Over at OGM I am actually naming all my titles, well, slowly working through all 3000 mags anyways, to the following format: Name of title (date of issue) number if known (Publisher) In GamePro's case I have GamePro (2000-05) 140 (IDG).pdf for example. You have this listed as issue 130 which will cause concern for newbies when the title clearly says 140. By categorizing the title by date before issue number you retain a proper release format anyway thus making issue numbers somewhat redundant in the grand scheme of things. Specials slot in via the release date with special denoted instead of an issue number. Thoughts?
