  1. I think I have approx 6 issues of the one you are referring to. Issues 1 & 4 are already scanned
  2. I have a heap, likely most of the UK edition of PC Gameplay and the UK issue of PC Gamer listed here. Just need to find time to scan them all.....
  3. Who doesn't like Jeri and her tight fighting space attire?
  4. While I agree with you I am sure the publishers take a different view and therein lies the problem with sites like this one which are without question infringing on copyright in the interests of preserving content. Unfortunately, the law is clear in that regard and sites like ours rely on the publishers applying a modicum of common sense when it comes to older content by either giving permission (not a common occurrence) or understanding that by not stopping us it might generate interest in their current titles to the point where they have increased sales. Movie magazines like Fangoria cater to a niche market and I think you will find they will not allow any copying at all. Game Informer and the GameFan magazines are not allowed here as a result of the owners contacting Phillyman and requesting their removal. When you are in this business you have to pick your battles as the publishers tend to have bigger pockets than we do......
  5. I managed to "acquire" 130 digital issues of Famous Monsters of Filmland which is a fun way of looking at the old horror/sci-fi movies from the earliest days through to the mid 1990's. Same for Fangoria and horror movies when I found 280 odd issues of that title. The problem with TV is it never goes out of date thanks to re-run after re-runs of old programs so it's a bit problematic offering digital versions of magazines compared to gaming magazines. Finding content is more difficult as a result. Some people have uploaded magazines like Omni to Archive.org but the quality is generally atrocious. Even those I obtained aren't great compared to our own scans for this site and OGM but hey, you take what you can get right?
  6. Xbox One, although officially I didn't "buy" it. I bought a 4K TV and it included a full X-One system (Kinect version) for free.
  7. I've been playing a little of Janes Advanced Tactical Fighters through DOSBox recently. A guy on another forum has been creating HUGE multi-game packs incorporating it along with auto-installation first time you play a game and so forth. Quite amazing. Very, very cool if you have the ratio to download them. I obviously acquired the Simulation set He's just completed another compilation for Windows 3.x games as well.
  8. The reason they are charging is because it is a free upgrade. DVD playback involves paying a licensing fee to Phillips I believe so it is only reasonable to drop support out of the OS and charge just those people who want to use the feature. I think it makes perfect sense as people can either use the software that came with their DVD drive at zero cost, find 3rd party software or pay the $10 or whatever it costs for their software. Windows 10 phone is sooo beta I can't believe people would load it on a phone when it is such an important part of our lives. It's one thing to load it on a PC where a crash here and there is annoying but not life threatening but on a phone? Can't say I'd do it. I don't even load official iOS updates on my iPhone 6 straight away in case they fubar something.
  9. Issue 27 of Next Generation has been edited and is now available over at OGM ...
  10. Just a note to let you know PCXL issue 22's rar file on Archive.org is corrupt with page 71 not able to be extracted. UPDATE ... Don't worry. She's all good. Re-downloaded using the same name and twice it errored but a 3rd time with a different name sorted it. Damned Windows caching .... UPDATE 2 ... GMR issue 04 has been edited and is now available over at OGM ..
  11. Issue 10 of GMR has been edited and is available over at OGM .... *** UPDATE *** Issue 51 of Next Generation is also available.
  12. Issue 56 has already been edited and a PDF version is available over at my website.
  13. That's why I setup profiles for my scanner about 1mm in from the edges of the page. Less editing on my part means throwing a magazine out a lot faster. People generally just want to read the mags and in my books as long as they have been scanned at 300dpi and are readable you don't get any complaints. I have profiles for all the magazines I am scanning so it's easy to swap from one to the other and not have to bother doing any cropping etc. Jason has profiles for his mags so it saves me having to do anything much with his work. Others like Dan submit raw scans and a LOT of editing is required. That's why they take longer for me to get them online. If I were you I'd take time to create profiles for the magazines you are scanning, especially if you have lots of them, and just put them out there. The quality of your scans are high anyway. If someone wants to take your scans and edit and resubmit them somewhere that's great but the chances of that occurring are low IMHO
  14. Holy Grail? I don't think so. This item is just a footnote in history of a deal that went sour. The whole Sony backstabbing Nintendo and vice versa thing is largely a moot point really. There has and always will be situations where potential mergers/collaborations are looked at by parties and decisions made to not go there. In this case Sony wanted royalties for CD games and Nintendo didn't like the deal so went down the cartridge path. They prospered and Sony went on to prosper too, if not more than Nintendo. A LOT more!! If it worked and there was some software for the thing it would be intriguing seeing it running. As it stands someone would buy it for collector value but I am guessing the price would be way down on those Apple I computers that have sold recently because you can actually use those. Still, it will be interesting to see if it turns up on the auction block sometime soon ....
  15. If you watched the ad to completion you would have seen 30 games for $30 iirc At $1 per game I don't think there's too much to complain about.
  16. 52 issues of the Australian version have been scanned and are available over at my website.
  17. 427 downloads

Nintendo Magazine System (AUS) Issue 011 (February 1994)
  18. 498 downloads

Nintendo Magazine System (AUS) Issue 005 (August 1993)
  19. Truly one of the greats. Personally, I thought his cameo in The Hobbit when he went to the aid of Gandalf with the Elf Queen was wonderful when you consider how old he was at the time of filming.
  20. Probably is the best way of handling that ....
  21. WTF to that? PM me your current IP address mate as I am not blocking anything other than 2 IP addresses used by people spamming the site and they are only blacklisted to stop comments so it's a total mystery why you can't access the site. Very weird...
  22. Issue 65 of Play is now available over at OGM if you haven't got a copy of that issue marktrade. That's two issues out in the wild now :-) Unfortunately I don't have any more of these. It was unfortunately just a one off that came in a box lot of mags a while ago.
  23. I would never go back to scanning on a flatbed if I can possibly help it. Just way too slow processing a mag. I still have one in case I need photo's scanned but that's about it.
  24. That's precisely how I acquired my FI-5650c. I bought it off EBAY and the seller was a recycling company who buys up company equipment when they are upgrading to the newest generation. They generally pay very little per item as they purchase large volumes from the companies and as a result these appear on EBAY for significantly less than what they are worth. Sure, you take a chance with a purchase like this but I got mine for $200 and she's all good barring needing to get the local service agent to give it a clean at some point.
  25. PC Home was a large format (e.g. bigger than A4 size) magazine first published in the UK by IDG Media around August 1993. It was targeted at a similar audience to Future Publishing's PC Format magazine in that it offered articles on both creative and gaming uses. Included on the front of the magazine was a software disc of demo software. It would appear that possibly both a floppy disk and CD edition were available at some point during its publication run. It ran for at least 32 issues as I have #32 sitting on my desk as I write this. It is one of the magazines I will be scanning in the near future. I think I might have one other issue in the huge pile of magazines in my basement somewhere.
