  1. I thought you guys were going primarily to newsgroup distribution anyway? 30GB a day is still plenty of leeching as I see it. No one uses Rapidshare for downloading movies/music nowadays anyway as uploaders have all fled to Netload/ Ryushare for the referral bucks anyway.
  2. Sure. Every cover is added to my website and anyone can happily use them wherever they want anyway. You should find heaps over there for all sorts of magazines already that you may not have in the gallery so go for it. Oh yeah... They are all 1200dpi height so fit in with RM's gallery size too. It takes a bit of effort scanning them all in so I generally upload there only. I am scanning the covers of all my mags so I can show people what I have. Expect heaps more over there on an ongoing basis
  3. I have a brother living in Sydney so it should be fairly easy to get them to him then onto me. He flies over in two weeks so might be a chance of getting them fairly quickly too Kiwi
  4. Definitely messaged you. Was a few minutes after this as I added some info on my mag collection etc.
  5. And you thought what exactly? As soon as we put anything on the net others rip them off and claim them as their own. Heaps of my mags have turned up on Underground-gamer with no credit given. Nature of the beast I am afraid.
  6. Yep ... I have several already scanned ... issues 2,3,88,90,97,98,102 & 120 along with ST/Amiga Format 012. Those will be back online shortly. The rest are in the rather large pile of yet to be scanned magazines. Been cataloging everything lately. Must be time to take another photo of my collection.
  7. All cover scans for the Amiga Format issues I possess are now online as are the covers for my Amiga World issues
  8. Indeed. I think I have 30 or so issues of Amiga Format that require scanning. I will try and get a list of the issues I have up on my website this weekend some time. Anyone who has other issues and wants to contribute them to the preservation cause are welcome to contact me to try and work something out. BTW ... to get access to downloads you need to register on my website at the present time. If you do create an account then send an email requesting activation as well as I am being bombarded with SPAM bot signups and I simply delete the previous days accounts if I don't receive an email. Cheers ... Kiwi **UPDATE** All issues that I possess of Amiga Format are now listed on my website. Covers have been scanned and will be added shortly.
  9. Looks like it might be a good time to ensure there are copies of all the issues in some scanners hands to ensure they get preserved for future generations. It's an event like this that makes that 2000 or even a 2005 cut off date a bit silly really.
  10. That's why I purchased a Brother MFC-6890CDW. It was/is the cheapest way to get A3 scanning capability and it makes it way, way easier scanning those whacky oversized mags that Future Publishing put out there (I'm thinking NGC magazine here as I have scanned a heap of them and some are just huge!!) The scanner may not be up there specs wise but no-one has complained about my mag scans so it must be okay.
  11. It does sound very much like a CVG strip to be honest as they always had a black & white serialised comic in most issues. Newsfield publications on the other hand usually ran a colour strip called Terminal Man penned by Oliver Frey if I remember correctly and Argus Press didn't really run comics at all in their publications. Bug Hunters came along as a staple a little later in CVG and there were small two or three issue comic runs so maybe it is one of those? Sorry I can't be more help .... I am way, way behind in scanning my CVG issues so am a tad rusty recalling these things. If I find something I'll let you know though.
  12. Matt's issues of Edge are now residing in New Zealand after I took possession of them while holidaying in Europe in May. Expect to see them released over at OldGameMags on a regular basis after I get the site running properly again. I will hopefully have all the covers scanned and on the site soon so people can see what they look like/what issues I possess etc.
  13. Well ... Dave Halverson co-founded that and it looks like when Fusion closed shop he started back on Gamefan and we all know how that is going nowadays. I only know Play from the Imagineering stable (Play tm)to be honest. At least that one does appear to be .... er .... stable
  14. Well ... the advertisements being republished are also one reason Future Publishing say they haven't wanted to reprint their old stuff but surely it can't be that big a deal for a 20 year old mag? Beats me. Personally, I don't think they want to spend money on wages for someone to scan old stuff. And no, in the 80's and 90's digital wasn't around so the really old stuff was pre-pressed etc. Unless they kept the masters it will require them to have at least a storage issue. Most didn't from what I can tell.
  15. Yeah ... Phoenix was EGM ... Dark Phoenix was Gamefan. Neither has amounted to much with nothing released by EGM and only a couple of issues released with the help of Meppi over at GameFan. I think they are both seriously having troubles trying to keep going with new stuff and simply don't have the time or manpower for preservation work.
  16. Well ... they were meant to be releasing all their older issues via the iPad appstore and so far the only things out are the EGMi's which are not that great, with no sign of the digital print versions to date. Add to that their inability to keep to a reasonable release schedule for their print media and it looks like they are in trouble. If I recall the guys at OoPA were originally meant to look after scanning their old versions ( I was assisting at one point ) then Steve pulled their scanning work in-house and that's the last anyone has heard anything about it. Did the guys at OoPA ask for money for scanning? Dunno but I don't think so therefore they just wanted control of it. All a mess really. Sucks that the people supporting them through subscriptions get the rawest deal of all.
  17. It's a UK magazine which means most people frequenting this site won't even know about it much less have copies as most people here are USA based. I don't have any of these in my UK collection either unfortunately.
  18. Make sure the tablet is a 4:3 format as 16:9 isn't ideal for mags.
  19. Yeah ... it impacted sites like Retromags, oldgamemags (my site) and OoPA hard as we either lost our collections completely (Megaupload) or they suddenly were made private use only (Filesonic you assholes) so each site has tried to work out how best to try and get them back online. Unfortunately there are asswipes like Sonic3030 who have no understanding of the situation other than they cannot leech a bazillion files anymore so toss their toys out of the cot like a baby and sounding like one too!!!
  20. I have some mags from Argus called "Personal Computing Today" and another lot of UK mags with "Computing" in the name but I am sure I don't have one with that cover as I'd remember one with a big breasted lass facing a dragon with only a spear. I'll have a look though when I get home next month.
  21. Update on my subs .... I subscribed to Edge Magazine via Zinio when it was on special so I receive 12 or 13 issues for $35NZ which is fantastic considering the print version retails for $18NZ per issue over here. Paid for two get another 10 for free. That goes along with my subscription to Games Master which cost me $49NZ for 13 issues. Still pretty good given the one shop selling them has disappeared and they were $17 per issue. On non-gaming side of things I also subscribed to Future Publishing's Maximum PC magazine which costs me an insanely cheap $1.29 per month. Just can't pass up prices like that.
  22. You know what you need to do then don't you? That would be buy and scan the mags as most of the readership here are USA based so don't really have access to those mags.
  23. I have the Nintendo Power files up to 110 converted to PDF format and have them on my Rapidshare account but I will be out of the country on holiday until late May so won't be in a position to get them online at OGM until after I get back. There's always been some reticence on the part of Retromags management to host PDF's as they prefer the CBR format and that is perfectly fine. I am more than happy to champion the PDF format
