  1. If Zelda counts as pure RPG (really more of an adventure game, but it works), that was my first back on the NES in the late 80's, otherwise it was Breath of Fire on the SNES in '94. I was really into platformers and fighters back then, but when I saw my cousin Illusion of Gaia and Mystic Quest I knew I had to run out and get one for myself. Had absolutely no clue was I was doing and just kept dying on the first boss repeatedly. I thought the correct procedure was to just keep rushing him since I was doing a little better each time when gaining levels along the way to his room. When I finally discovered healing items, it was smooth sailing from then on, and it soon became my favorite genre.
  2. Very cool, thank you. If it's anything like the other early EGMs it's probably another behemoth of an issue so I know it takes a while. Good to know it's in the queue for a release; I'll look forward to it.
  3. Just dug up a few more looking through my collection. So bad it's funny. Who were these ads marketed to again?
  4. This site's been a great resource for me looking up reviews and previews of some of my favorite games from back in the day, and one of the things I was looking for was coverage of the fairly underappreciated EVO for SNES. Nintendo Power had a nice walkthrough in issue 50, GamePro had a short review in their August '93 ish, and EGM #43 supposively has a review and overview of the game. The only problem: it's the one 1993 EGM missing from the site! eBay has one copy currently on sale for $15 plus shipping, but rather than resort to that too quick, I just thought I'd ask if anyone had this and planned to scan it in to fill in the gap. At the very least, I'd settle just for the magazine's review and overview pages for the game, as well any possible reference to the game in the "Japan's Top Ten" sales section near the beginning, which, by this issue, should include coverage of the months the game was released in Japan (assuming it sold enough to be listed in the first place). I appreciate any help anyone is willing to give.
  5. Ascii gets straight to the point. One of the infamous Earthbound stinky ads. I'm kinda surprised this one got printed. Not really an ad, but I always thought Superman Crossing the Delaware was pretty funny. Most one-sided war ever.
  6. Just popping in to say that the Rapidshare link for part 1 of the EGM #50 PDF is linking to the wrong file (issue 53). Part 2 seems to be fine. Anyways, just bring that to the mod's attention. Keep up the good work, guys.
