Huh, out of all those prizes I'd only be interested in the Megaman return labels. But then I'd have to give out information for them to be printed.

Enh, when I boot a console I'm ready to play a game, not sit through an hour long DL. Sony started removing things, I couldn't care much less about new features since I only use the gaming part of a console (and not even the VC as I still have all my old carts and platforms), and there's always the outside chance of something bricking. I don't think I've ever updated the U, maybe the 3DS once, was offline on PS3 for about a year when they messed with the Linux models, my PSP is still on 1.50 and hasn't been used since games stopped working, and the Vita also maybe once. I wish they would limit those useless things to once or twice a year. It would give them time to offer an actual change instead of nothing and call it a stability update.

Most of Nin's big titles always move decent amounts of units. And provided there aren't any major delays then yeah this fall/winter is going to be good. Of course I'll still have all the PS3's newest releases to finish and I'll see how long I can avoid getting a PS4. Throw some handhelds games on top of those... It's like a freaking full time job.
-
I have one but like the 3DS it won't let me online unless I update. Something I don't really care for after dealing with so much PS3 nonsense. And because I only have 2 games it hasn't been on since I finished Skyward Sword and Nin Land. Oh wait, I might have played Kirby too. In any case if I can add friends the next time I use it I'll try to remember this post.

Games take time. I'd rather they come slowly than be broken or not come at all. Plus like you said they have 2 platforms to support. I've had their platforms since the NES (only skipping a few of the middle GB lines). Nin does their own thing and doesn't worry about what everyone else does. That's fine. I don't want movie support or all that non-gaming nonsense. HD wasn't that big a deal so I kept playing Wii. They're fine being a secondary system so let Sony and M$ fight. Sure there should be more for the U. Rayman was due out a while ago. Several games I already played on PS3. But since the backlog for my other consoles is so large it's not exactly a problem for the U to move slowly. Kinda thankful more games aren't piling up. 3DS had a slow start too, look how that turned out. I wouldn't worry.

Hey I bought my U and only have 2 - Mario and Nin Land. It's a good start. Thing is as Nin fans we understand that they are traditionally slow to get their games out there. But, they WILL come eventually and that's what I'm ready for. I haven't grown tired of their games yet. They change just enough to keep things from getting stale yet without removing the classic gameplay we want. Ok, so maybe between the handhelds and consoles we got one too many 2D adventures (although it's the only place to find them it seems) however my solution to that is to space them out. I just finished NSMB2 on 3DS so maybe I'll play SMBU over the winter. Then the new 3D Land along with Luigi U sometime after that. We're getting a new Kart, new Smash, new DK. Eventually a new Zelda. Who knows what else hasn't been revealed yet. I'd love a new F-Zero, Starfox, Startropics, or 2D Metroid. Nin has a ton of franchises to choose from. They won't bore me, I just need to wait for them to deliver. Lastly as fans we know we buy Nin hardware for Nin games. Third party stuff is merely a bonus.

I have a U and will likely get a PS4. I don't know if that will be at launch or later, depending how much of this backlog I get through and any launch sales/deals I find at that time. Obviously the One is an outright 'no go'. Never been impressed with M$ anyhow.

Greedy companies can try to resell you games. That's why I keep everything so I don't have to pay twice. As far as mags go I'm assuming they couldn't care less. What effect could it have to anyone? They're mostly no longer in print, you're not profiting from their work, let's just hope it stays that way. Gamer tip - always keep a backup. Heh.
-
Huh. Not sure if I should get the mega pack for the hell of it or the smaller ones so I can avoid the excess fighting games. I want more of their shmups.

I've had this discussion before and I'm leaning to the 'yes' side of maybe. In other words probably. Innovation is lacking because few want to take chances on a game that won't sell. Whose fault is that? The company for overspending or overestimating sales? Or is it our fault for not buying these unique games? Or is it some middle ground where most people just don't have the money to buy all the games they want to play? I recall seeing Square saying TR and Hitman were failures for not selling several extra million, that to me makes no sense because they sold well and had favorable reviews. As for buying habits I do support many unusual games but I tend to wait for sales so that I can enjoy the more mainstream stuff as well. With my backlog I've plenty of games to hold me over until a title hits $30. That's how I can get all I want and support as much as I can. Then to top it off we have these awful phones and tablets with collections of cheaply priced pitiful games that will create a scenario like we had way back when. I don't support that market. Let's just hope that Sony and Nin continue to focus on games and limit the non-gaming fluff. That will keep things afloat longer. As someone said though it may be a necessary thing so companies can learn to control spending and find a place for innovation.

As much as I want to discourage anyone from buying this crap and accidentally telling them the 'features' are ok, if you're not looking for games then that's pretty much what you'll get.

What Currently Published Magazines Do You Read?
DPsx7 replied to kartracer3's topic in Magazine Talk
Just Game Informer. Wasn't my fave mag since it doesn't focus solely on PS3 or Nin's hardware, but without PTOM and NP it's all I got left. Don't have a sub by choice, it comes with GS's goofy card. -
A bunch of people on other sites like to cast off my views because I wasn't a big fan of M$ even before they launched a console. When it comes to gaming I'll go wherever the good games are, and it's happened to be a lucky coincidence that M$ and their platforms have done everything I do not want in a console. I need a varied library with unique games. Specs and graphics aren't my focus. I won't pay extra to play online, don't want non-gaming features since I view very little TV and zero movies, I enjoy finding lesser known games on the used rack, etc. Basically I do not like restrictions that could limit my future access to the things I paid for.
-
I never liked what M$ has offered. Sony and Nin offer much more. The rumors have been killing this platform as I don't watch movies, don't care about sports, I don't even watch much TV other than 4 or 5 channels for a couple shows. I certainly wouldn't want a platform that's always online, required a camera, did away with used games or a physical format, etc. If Sony chooses to also do stupid things I'm gonna stick with my U and go back to replay all the games I've collected over the years.
-
They do look good so I'm glad you didn't take it like I was making a joke of it. Really? 12 years old and they're familiar with GB games, awesome. Oh ok, I was going to ask why the accounts were different.
-
That's my specialty. Lol. I don't know a damned thing about popular culture as I haven't seen a movie in a theater since 1999 (and only 3 borrowed DVD's since), none of my music is domestically produced, nor do I watch a hell of a lot of TV. But when it comes to gaming I'm full of useless facts and pick up on goofy stuff like that. It helps that I own so many games to reference to. Chances are I probably have that poster somewhere too. Used to take 'em from my mags. You can call me DP. It doesn't mean what you might think. The internet has a perverted mind and I've been using this name since the late 90's.
-
I don't use FB so I'm going to enter here. Hopefully you don't mind if I nerd out for a moment but is that an actual retro poster? I ask because that Samus pose is from Metroid 2 on Gameboy, not the SNES Super Metroid. I collect games and just thought something looked familiar yet out of place. My bad. Anyways how could anyone not like this game? It created one of my favorite genres. It let us explore but gave us a map to keep from getting lost. Retro gaming gives us the best 2D games.
-
I don't know why so many people hate them, you just need to know how to play their game. Maybe the local employees suck? I've had hits and misses here, like when I knew about sales before they did. I only go there when they have big sales to pair with my Pro card or any gift cards. It makes no sense to save $5 on a nearly new game when you can wait a few weeks and find the game, probably new, for half the price. Doesn't matter to me what they offer in trade since I never trade games in. If I could gripe about something it's that they never price match. Some stores are too small. And their rewards catalog is full of crap.
-
1 and 7 are my options as there aren't any good 'retro' shops around here that I know of. Problem is Ebay isn't a good place to gauge prices as any yokel could pull a price from their ass and claim it's the only one on the site. Look for bids to determine what's fair. Most of my really retro items were hand me downs.

For me the collecting was sort of a result of excessive gaming, not the goal. Lol. What that means is when I buy a game or platform I intend to enjoy it at some point, otherwise it's just wasting money. If I wanted full sets then I'd have to buy a lot of old sports games and other kids titles which would just collect dust and take up space. I feel I'd rather spend that cash on something to use, ya know? Those who focus on collecting tend to play less and that's not gonna work for me. Hopefully the X does a suitable job. Nah I don't know anyone who's still local that plays games. Heh funny you mention that 'cause it's one game I'd also like to have. I can confirm it's a lot like Zelda because it was included on the Genesis Collection released on PS3. Didn't play it long though just in case I did get the Master System someday.
-
And now it's on sale for $130. I caved and got one after doing some research to see what it would take to get these games any other way. Always wanted one for the collection and really prefer the AES platform. Problem is the games are stupid expensive, and that goes for all games not just rare ones. The CD version is much cheaper but appears to be missing many of the games that released in cart form. An in-between solution would be the MVS hardware since the games are cheaper than AES, more costly than CD, but it's not very appealing as it's pretty much bare bones arcade hardware. Then I found out about something called the Supergun and a CMVS which are sort of alternate ways of enjoying the MVS option. So I'm hoping for the best on the X and if it falls flat then I'll just have to stick with emulation until reasonable prices can be found. It's just a bit too much for me to commit to considering how many current gen games I've yet to finish and how many more are coming. I don't know of anything good on the Jag or CDi. The few other things I'd like to find would be a TG16 or maybe a Master System. Anything I buy needs to have at least a few games worth playing or it's just a waste of cash ya know?
-
I'm still unsure if this is what I want. Only 3 games per card means low chances at getting the shmups I'm looking for anytime soon, and without buying a ton of games I'm not as interested in. $150 isn't a lot but it's just the fact that I don't know what else might be coming or if they'll update it to work out kinks. Basically all the info they're withholding is the very stuff I want to know before picking one up. Go figure.
-
I would if they showed it. Just some games and the controller. And way too much social bullshit I want nothing to do with...
-
Yeah I took it but the answers were a little undefined. I don't think extremely challenging is a great idea, but at the same time you don't want it to hold your hand. You want to feel like you're always making progress otherwise you'll go find something else to play. Simplicity is vague, it should be easy to learn without being bland after the first 5 minutes. If you're aiming for stuff like Contra, Megaman, Gunstar, and the like I don't see how it could go really wrong. The main suggestion would be to create something that doesn't feel like a clone. Oh, a huge factor is to focus on gameplay and not graphics. And I didn't know what you meant by being involved with development so I just chose no. With more details I wouldn't mind offering suggestions or watching some gameplay.

Huh. I'd rather keep it in the native resolution but I don't have my SD set hooked up at the moment. Ever since getting these HD monitors I put them in front of it. Not that picky to want scan lines or anything, I just want to be sure it runs well compared to the actual hardware if I was going to get this. If I didn't say this before elsewhere I'd be getting it for the home version more than the portable version. Would like some proof that new games are coming too.
