  1. People buy Wii Play just for the Wiimote. I got it and there's maybe 2 games that stay interesting for more than a couple plays. Wii Sports does a better job. For $10 though does it matter how long you play? Bomberman is usually good, Kart is great.
  2. Well don't discount good games just because there's one TV. Lotta fun stuff that isn't multiplayer. Besides Wii Sports, not that I know of. But I'm not big on the whole sports genre for any console so maybe someone else can suggest something. RRR is a good game for multiplayer, single player is just getting a high score to unlock things. The first was good for many laughs, the second a little less. Haven't tried TV Party or whatever the third is called. First 2 should be cheap by now to be worth whatever price you pay.
  3. Wow, if you didn't like Zelda or Paper Mario then you have some issues. Heh. The Wii is a fantastic little system. Sure I prefer the 2D Mario/Zelda games too but the 3D ones aren't bad in the least. Almost everything I have on Wii can't be found on PS3. Metroid Prime, Geometry Wars, Trauma Center, I agree that Smash, Kart, and Party are fun with or without others, Monkey Ball, Kororinpa, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and Warioware. As for games I've heard about and haven't played yet, Warioland, Boom Blox, No More Heroes, and De Blob are supposed to be cool. Mad World is coming along nicely too. There's actually plenty to enjoy as long as you're not afraid of the games. I swear it's like kids go and buy PS3/360 and then expect every game to be a colorless, gory shooter. They also throw the word gimmick freely but don't understand how it helps the game, stuff that can't be done on another system. The only true crap on Wii is the same you'll find on any system - the games based on cartoons, books, movies, or comics.
  4. Oh hit that Pachter guy with a brick already. EA was doing worse for relying on sequels. I got tired of them milking games until they weren't fun anymore. Now with games like RB2, Dead Space, and Mirror's Edge out (which all got good reviews) I think they'll find more success there. Although he is right it's sad they might have an easier time selling a crappy games with a license than something fresh. License games are never any good.
  5. Neat. But I'm not gonna spend a lot of money just to have duplicate boxes to find room for. I don't usually keep games in their cases anyway, just the PS3 and Wii since I haven't put them in disc wallets yet for travel.
  6. All CCG's cost a lot in the long run. You gotta like these things. I bought the game and camera for $30 on an unadvertised special a while ago. Bought most of the first set online (short maybe 10 cards). I got the set 2&3 expansion because it was a pack for $15 or $20 rather than whatever set 2 cost by itself. Since I've been playing so many other games I haven't bothered to collect further cards yet and unless I see it take off I'm only gonna buy them when cheap. For players who are less serious you can get plenty of cards really cheap from those who buy boxes to collect the whole set. They sell the duplicates at a discount, and then you can just buy the stronger cards you want seperately. It's kinda neat but I liked MTG more, maybe only because I was more familiar with it. Never went online as I heard you're gonna lose unless you develop a deck to combat a few theme decks that were popular at the time. With few sets and a limited deck size I don't feel there was as much deck customization or personalization as MTG. Not to mention there's a mere 9 spots on the board so you can't load up on small creatures. I guess my point is the player decks end up being too similar. There isn't a whole lotta room to grow. If you wanna play offline you don't need a fancy deck and there are trophies to be had. Playing online doesn't require the actual cards since the computer randomizes your prebuilt deck to prevent cheating. In which case you can use cards you don't own by finding pics online and scanning the barcode into the game. It works too, when I was scanning in my legit cards I was just throwing them on top of each other. Well once or twice they'd slide around and expose the top code of one and bottom code of another which resulted in cards registering that I've never seen. This is also why Ebay sellers cover the barcode when taking pics.
  7. PS3 is totally worth it. (Don't forget about Wii though.) Been playing Wipeout HD for a while, waiting for a new release or some extra tracks. I have Pulse on PSP but I never really got into that system, preferring the PS2 ports.
  8. You think they'd do that? Besides a handful of people I don't know how many actually 'collect' magazines to the point they'd request old issues. I just never threw mine away. Mags take up a lot of room and most everything is stored online in multiple places these days. If it disappears it isn't gone for long.
  9. Good point, it would seem to highlight them which you don't want. After the next issue arrives I figure these things are discarded by many people. So I can't say how publishers would feel about this or how far back they go with back-issues. Unlike games it's not as if they can remake the mag and sell it again, ya know? And with mags being less desired thanks to the internet who knows... Have you ever been contacted by anyone about this site?
  10. Would it be a easier to just move them to '2K stuff' category but not actually remove what you've added already? It sounds like people are making a mad rush to DL them and you've put in all that work to scan them. And whenever I decide to take a break from gaming I wanna scan through the collection you have. Dunno what percentage you have that's going to be cut.
  11. Actually the end of the third link has that. Like they caught the last 10 minutes of the show. Once I saw it, I think I found out why they're selective. They got like a minute or less.
  12. Did anyone think to check Youtube? I can't believe it but I think I found some pieces. There's one more about TMNT but there's no sound.
  13. I hear ya, but that I can't help ya with. Doesn't seem like the type of thing people would record for later, so I dunno how much luck you'll have unless someone finds the originals (not that this would come to DVD). Then again, the internet is full of surprises...
  14. They tested this on Mythbusters. It's pretty hard to get anything that a current will flow through.
  15. No, Fun House was a game show. There's an NES game of it but I don't know much else. I think it was like Double Dare with a bunch of physical challenges and stunts. Video Power was that show he asked about, I used to watch it and want to be there. Never knew why the kids were so selective, I'd have literally bounced off those walls sticking to everything possible.
  16. Oh, I musta missed that topic then. Google finds some weird stuff for sure.
  17. Is that good or bad? Wonder why it matches refund...
  18. Ya know I have never been in a Starbucks. I only drink coffee infrequently anyway, prefer OJ in the morning.
  19. I wouldn't imagine so, good to hear. As long as people can find room for the mags and keep them until needed.
  20. That's where it's open to interpretation. It says retromags, but is that the name or the goal? What I mean is do you just want to stay pre-2K, or be like MAME and collect anything you can for preservation sake? I totally understand about not putting pressure on businesses. Emulation holds back the newest stuff and of course you don't want any hassle by offering things too soon. Guess we'll just have to see where this goes. The 10 year cutoff should work better as far as what is offered here, but as I said if you intend to catalog more down the road it might be wise to get 'em while they're available. Ya never know if another publisher will go under and their mags become rare and expensive.
  21. That mildly sucks. I was hoping to rid of mags now... I know it's hard to visualize those consoles as retro, but since lifespans are longer it does throw you off. I mean 2000 was a good while ago. In PC terms that's ancient. Besides to me retro is Atari 2600 age or so. NES to DC is classic. Is there a good reason you want to remain that dated, or is it just to cut down on work and get the older stuff scanned? Mainly I ask because wouldn't it be easier to get these somewhat newer mags now before they become hard to find and expensive? You don't have to put them up right away if there's a copyright issue involved.
  22. Well I'm currently in charge of 2 other smaller arcades. We don't use the attack system or casino though so I gotta figure that mess out. Philly asked for a hand and I said yeah. After all when I'm not at work I'm either online or in front of a console game. So you can say the job fits me just fine. Ha. *I kinda hope he comes in and lets me know what I can do. All I see now is editing each game individually. I wanna clean up the categories first, instead of having distance and yeti in two seperate ones I can condense them. The icons for them don't even work.
  23. Yeah, reworking the payouts was one thing he wants me to go over. I just need to come up with a fair system to figure how many points you need. I don't want to unbalance the attack system or casino by giving away too much cash easily. Those would be the yeti/distance games. The only problem is some games are hard to categorize. Some go for distance but require timed jumps/movement rather than hit the button and hope for the best. Enh, if someone thinks a game belongs in a different group they can let me know.
  24. Hey all. As Philly has known me from another site for a while he offered me a position to help run the arcade and casino. I'm not sure everything I can do yet but thought this would be a good time to ask what you folks want. I'll have to browse through the forum for broken game reports and see if they were taken care of. As well as new game requests (links are preferable and result in games being added quicker). The other thing that was mentioned is Philly would like me to organize things. Would anyone prefer I put the games in folders sorted alphabetically, or should I make a few basic groups like arcade, card/slots, yeti/distance, or something else you suggest? I know it could be a pain to browse too many categories so I figured I'd ask for input. Bear in mind that this isn't a full time job so once the main work is done I might check in every couple days to see what's up.

    Broken Games.

I've played it elsewhere too so I don't know if it's the converted program or something used to fit it in the casino. Twice I tried playing, it didn't install any credits, and when I cashed out my wallet was empty. I want that money back... Plus now I'm on the losers list and I didn't even PLAY anything.
