  1. Zelda was the first game I beat 2 days after starting it. I don't recall if I found everything though, so if it means completely owning a game it'd be Megaman X. That game was too fun and the patterns easy enough to figure out. I can beat the whole game without using the special weapons unless necessary to advance.
  2. I know the areas mentioned were tough, but as it's been a while since I've played 'em I don't recall if they're as tough as the 2 recent levels I went through in Galaxy. 2 purple coin missions, on the Dreadnaught and on the Luigi level. Those sucked hard as you got one try to collect 100 scattered and hidden coins and get to the star. Die and you restart.
  3. Absolutely. In addition to the 'fun of the search' part, DLC will have no resale value down the road. If I ever am forced to sell games I know I got several that are worth more than I paid at the time. I still have complete (and in great shape) copies of FF3 and Chrono Trigger on SNES plus a copy of Earthbound with no box, and Mario RPG 7 stars, FF2, Secret of Mana, etc. Complete FF7, 8, and 9 black-label on PS1 plus other hard to find games like Einhander and Intelligent Qube (no artwork though, stupid Ebay), Brave Fencer Musashi, FF Tactics, both Lunar titles, Castlevania SOTN (unfortunately the GH version) and more. I also hear my Saturn copies of Guardian Heroes and Panzer Dragoon 1&2 are worth a bit. What else... Got all 3 Mario, all 6 Megaman, both gold Zelda, and several more NES games with manuals. I really have to revise my site and post it. I got a LOT of stuff.
  4. I own at least 30 and don't think I regretted a single one. The Virtual Boy was best used when laying down. The DC had some great games, it just didn't last long enough. While the GBA was dark the games were great. I skipped any of the systems that didn't have games I wanted to play so I don't have ones like the 3DO, 32X, Master System, Jaguar, Lynx, or even the XB and 360 (even though those 2 aren't included in the topic). If I really had to choose one I'll say PSP. Why? Sony focused too much on lameass movies and other features, the games didn't come fast enough. And once they did they never worked as the friggin system always wanted an update, which I refused. It was cool while it lasted, stopped using it like 3 years ago. I still hate updating my Wii or PS3 as I don't need the extra gimmicks they add and there's always a chance the system won't be the same afterwards. If they'd only give us a way to downgrade like on a PC I'd feel safer doing so.
  5. This would be a difficult decision for me. I've been without a real arcade for ages. The small ones at the mall food court suck. I gotta go on vacation to find enjoyable ones. So needless to say I missed a lot of stuff over the years. Building a MAME machine helped of course, but still... I would have to choose games that you simply cannot get at home. Mainly pinball machines (I own a Twilight Zone right now) and a Pump it Up machine as I like that music more than DDR and the home version mats aren't as good as the metal pads. Maybe one of the Time Crisis games on a big screen. Hydro Thunder or a SF Rush machine would also be nice since the feel of the cabinet and controls can't be had at home. Dunno what else. Oh, I'd definitely want to try the arcade versions of Mario Kart and F-Zero. In the classics area, gimme Galaga, Aero Fighters, R-Type, Life Force/Salamander (any good shoot 'em up really) and Robotron. Emulation is nice yet I only have a 17" monitor on the system.
  6. Tough call really. Carts have a few advantages such as durability and less moving parts in the console. Plus more room for artwork as many are visible when the console is in use. CD's are nice because they come with sturdy cases instead of cardboard boxes and are easier to store safely in less space. Dust or moisture won't affect them. But as was said with the sizes of games these days I can't see them coming back outside the handheld market. Load times haven't bothered me enough to complain. The only thing I hope for is that games stay on physical media. I hate DL's as you don't really get anything with it. I collect games and a drive full of files means nothing compared to a shelf full of colorful games. Not that I refuse all DL's as Megaman 9 and a few others were excellent. I just don't want that to be the ONLY choice.
  7. I thought the demo was pretty good so when I find a cheap copy I'll probably get it. I can't stand FPS's on consoles 'cause I need mouse/KB control, but the first person viewpoint in games isn't bad on its own. Luckily the game tries to steer you from playing it like a shooter so I won't need to pass it up. Yeah EA still blows, they're only the publisher. That's why I was able to buy Rock Band, the Simpsons game, and Burnout. Can't stand most of the rest they produce and have never owned one of their sports games. EA has a nasty habit of running games into the ground. SSX and NFS being good examples of games that were once great and now suck.
  8. Definitely my fave in the series, followed closely by the original. LTTP just had more to do and find. I remember the Xmas I got my SNES, I beat the game in like 2 days. It's one of those games I go back to replay every so often too. You just don't find games this good these days, ya know? TP was excellent, beat that last year. Working on Phantom Hourglass now. I own them all (NES to GB to DS to Wii) but think the only 2 I haven't beaten are Ocarina Master Quest and Majora's Mask (which I dunno how I could have missed but recall nothing from the game).
  9. Although it took me some time to do I believe it was the first SMB. I had it before the others. Yes, with warps. After that was probably part 3 as some friends and I used to take turns working through the game after school. I never owned a copy of 2 until a couple years back when I was rebuilding my collections. I rented it several times back in the day. Anyway as of yesterday when I finally completed Galaxy I can say I own and have beaten every official Mario game to date. From NES to Wii, GB to DS. Including many of the spinoffs like the Paper/RPG games. That includes all gates in SMW and 120 stars in both 64 and Galaxy. 2 years ago when it was too hot to sit up here I was playing NES on my laptop (in the AC) and went through the first 3 Mario games in full - no warps.
  10. Maybe, maybe not. I have many years of gaming under my belt, but at the same time I'd rather be pushing through the stacks of unplayed console games than fighting over some flash games on the site. Some people can just sit for hours while at work, getting scores I just don't wanna put in the time for. I guess it depends on what games you have too. I've seen a handful of games that have a max score that cannot be beaten.
  11. Whoa, rewards for winning games? Wish I had that on the other 2 sites I play at. I'll have to take a look.
  12. Besides a lot of great games already mentioned I could name a bunch more. Kirby, RC Pro AM, Guardian Legend, Startropics, Lolo... Nin has a TON of great games from the past to choose from.

    Boo On Nintendo!

Huh, hadn't picked up on that before. I always see it in red in various places so now I need to double check my recent games and mags. Lose steam? When have they ever? Nin has consistently put out top notch games every gen. Sure the third party support might have lacked in the N64 and GC days but it's pretty strong right now and there's a great assortment of titles to be had. The most popular system always gets the duds, so like PS2 last gen the Wii is gonna get some shovelware. Don't let that distract you from the rest though. I have around 36 Wii games and play it regularly in between working on PS2 and PS3 games. Actually I spent the last week or two on Mario Galaxy (I know, I'm way behind as I buy more games than I finish). The only reason I can see for people ignoring the system is they have a bias towards Nin for some reason or they're afraid of games with color and without guns.
  14. I see some nice lists here. Got a pretty sizable one myself. Rather than a list of all my games I took pics instead, but the site I made needs a bit of an update as I'm always buying more. Haven't counted the games (3 sets have over 100 titles) but I own at least 30 different consoles and game machines. No games that I wouldn't play (as I could pad my collection with hundreds of sports and FPS games). Actionmax Atari 2600 Commodore 128 Colecovision Dreamcast DS Gameboy original GBA GBA SP Gamecube Gamegear Genesis Intellivision MAME machine (built myself, arcade cabinet with emulators, Stepmania, Doom, etc) N64 NES Odyssey 2 PS1 PS2 PS3 PSP Radioshack TRS-80 Sinclair TI-99 A bunch of PC games Twilight Zone pinball machine Saturn Sega Nomad SNES Virtual Boy Wii

    Where Do I Start?

Oh, of course. New mags are still readable. The old stuff is what needs to be focused on. You answered my Q though, if someone would be willing to take 'em for future use. I don't think I've ever thrown one away so I have several piles taking up lots of space. Since I continue to collect games I kinda need that space back. Heh. I noticed it hadn't been updated. I'm sure you all have tons of other stuff to do. As for the condition of my mags the Nin Powers are in rough shape and fallen apart as they were given to me and were heavily read. They're still scannable. The posters were removed too but I think I still have them in a folder someplace. My Game Players are all in good shape, and the newer stuff is near mint (the mail system sometimes chews 'em up just a little). I'll browse around and see what I find, wait until everyone is back from the holiday before doing much.
  16. You still searching for guides? I have the NES Atlas, already unbound as it fell apart years ago. I believe most of the pages are there, but can't guarantee it. Also have the FF1 players guide, SNES guide, Earthbound, Majora's Mask, and Paper Mario guides. Not sure if I have more tucked away. Does it matter which version guide? Some are official, some made by Versus Books.

    Where Do I Start?

Hey all. I know Philly from another forum and sorta forgot he had this site going. What made me think of it is I have a huge collection of gaming items but need to regain some of the space, as in I thought to rid of a stack or two of magazines. Instead of junking them I wanna ask what you need, but I'm not sure how up-to-date the site is. I read you don't accept anything within the last 5 years which is a shame since that's most of what I have, but there's plenty of older mags. Would anyone want the newer stuff to scan later on? I can do some limited scanning but my scanner is slow and small meaning it'll take a while to do a single mag or guide. Without spending hours browsing each topic or your DL area, are there current lists of what you're looking for? I'm gonna keep looking around too, so maybe I'll find something. Most of the stuff I plan to rid of is EGM and GI. Possibly Game Players too. Undecided if I want to keep my NP and PSM mags though. I could still read them here and open up more space, yet I don't know if the sets hold any value.
