Someone Selling Video Game Magazine Advertisements
Mister Zero replied to Phillyman's topic in Off Topic
Maybe he preserved it digitally and had no use for the pages! Either that or he realizes there's a niche at this site and is breaking it down even further than full mags. -

I used to eat the hell out of that stuff.. I even remember the taste. I still have a few clippings from the box laying around in my closet. Still, I wouldn't pay $200 for some cereal that went stale over 20 years ago.

What Retro Consoles & Handhelds Do You Still Own?
Mister Zero replied to Phillyman's topic in Retro Video Gaming!
Yeah, some systems are hard to find or really costly when you do find them. It pays to hang on to them for dear life. My younger brothers(they're twins) used to take my games to GameStop while I was at school and trade them in for stupid games like Harry Potter and YuGiOh. So long FFVII, Gran Turismo 2, and N64 with all the good games. I could've killed them! Now I have the Wii though, with a lot of the games available through VC, so the tension has finally died down! -
What Retro Consoles & Handhelds Do You Still Own?

I've learned over the years not to let anyone borrow, or give away my systems; they never take good enough care of them! -
Hah! Well, one is legal, the other not so. Though you'd probably get in more trouble from the former.. I can see why this would be more accepted. Youtube has pretty strict copyright standards now and if there's something posted there and not taken down from TOS/copyright infringement it seems to be prettymuch fair game a.k.a. fair use.

Great topic, I didn't see this when it was first posted! I still love board games and my family comes over sometimes to play. The Goodwill has been an endless source of games for my family. Ever since I picked up my first game there, I've started collecting them. So far I have found: Nightmare(a video boardgame from the 90s) Simon (in great condition from 1978!) Candyland Chutes & Ladders Trivial Pursuit(Master Edition from the 80s) Scrabble(80s/90s) Clue(80s/90s) Pictionary(80s/90s) Operation Grape Escape(1992) Monopoly(1978 or so edition) Update: I just happened to find 3 from my wanted list at the Goodwill for $1 each!- Battleship(1984 version MIB) Rummikub Parcheesi I'm glad I'm able to find the versions I played when I was a kid. It brings it all back so much more. I'm currently looking for a 1991 Game of Life and a 1984 Candyland board. I'll probably try to find them for cheap on eBay. I'd also love to have Crossfire, Sorry, Connect 4, and Trouble- preferably 90s versions.

Gene Simmons Scumbag Son Plagiarizes Bleach Manga
Mister Zero replied to Phillyman's topic in Off Topic
It depends to me if it's someone I actually like or not. If it's just some one-hit wonder I want on-the-fly, I'll download it. But like you Thor, I just got around to ordering a few music CDs just the other day. Finished up my Michael Jackson collection FINALLY! -
It's a shame she had to die that way. I just watched the show with her and those whales down in Orlando last August. It's part of the profession I suppose, but if they insist on doing these shows they should know what to watch out for. When they bought this particular orca they were told to use it for breeding only, not shows, but SeaWorld went against that and now we see the result. This orca has attacked and killed a few other trainers before it got to her.. You'd think they'd get the idea. I've seen some other videos of orcas attacking the trainers at these shows. I don't know if they get moody, or just tired of certain trainers or being caged in and lash out. They really don't need to be kept in captivity and forced to do shows, they're not meant for it. Either way, it's not very safe to be in the water with them. (nothing graphic, so don't worry!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz-UEQFhmxA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Af67qv5Dzg

Gene Simmons Scumbag Son Plagiarizes Bleach Manga
Mister Zero replied to Phillyman's topic in Off Topic
I'm not that into music CDs anymore just because there aren't enough good songs on the CD to make me happy. You usually get a couple of songs you've heard and like, and the rest is stuff that doesn't really do anything for me or sounds rushed. I'm glad they have it set up now with things like iTunes and places where you can just get the high quality mp3 for like .99 cents instead of having to go out and get the whole album and waste $7-$20. I'm glad we at least have that option now, and that happened basically because of the whole music piracy thing. I think the way the music industry has failed in that they don't strive for quality the same way they used to. That being said, I've watched Gene's show a couple of times and his son reminds me of a few kids I went to school with. This is exactly the type of thing they used to do, too. In art class, they used to trace or copy a picture from a manga or something and try to pass it off as their own in class to get a good grade. Shame, shame! -
I've been playing in the local arcade a lot, so.. Video & Arcade Games #1 EGM 8 looks awesome too, so that'd be my second vote.

Hah! I once taped the first couple seasons on Sailor Moon when I was a teen.. so I have no room to speak on that, Thor. I liked the Pokemon show for a while but then it just became the same thing over and over. Same with Sailor Moon..

FBI asking ISP's to retain your browsing habits for 2 years
Mister Zero replied to Phillyman's topic in Off Topic
There's probably some warrant work-around in the "Patriot Act" somewhere for all I know. This country really bugs me sometimes. I'd like to move, but nowhere is much better, I'm sure. I always thought they had stuff like this set up already, too. I guess we'd see a lot more of the population getting busted for internet crimes if we did, though. -
Could You Live Without A Computer and Internet?
Mister Zero replied to Phillyman's topic in Off Topic
I can always make it without for a vacation, but on this last trip we took the laptop so we could find maps and directions around FL. That place can be friggin' confusing. If you have a phone with GPS you wouldn't need the computer, but if no phone or GPS, you'll have to go back to the old methods of asking directions and checking maps. It's just so useful and gives me something to do in downtime! I've been kind of poor most of my life so I've gone long periods without, so I know I can do it. In some ways I'd probably be better off without, too, but it's such a convenience. All the knowledge I need is here on the net and it's easier to get ahold of any of my friends here when the phone fails. -
I think entertainment industry altogether has gone too far. If you're out there making sub-par games, NO ONES GOING TO BUY THEM. Just like music albums- if you have one or two good songs and the rest are filler, don't expect to sell much, no matter how hard you want to push the stuff on people with advertising. They shouldn't really be taking it out on fans and technology companies. I agree that piracy is bad, mmkay, but in today's overpriced world you have to look out for what you buy. We've all been duped into paying too much for a piece of crap that the entertainment industry has pushed upon us. I know that a lot of people are afraid of wasting $35 on a game that's not that great- either it's too short, not the type of game they thought it was, the game was just bad, etc.. Sure, there are demo stations around sometimes, but they're not always up-to-date with the latest games stocked for you to play. Some people want to actually try the game before they buy it. I actually have an M3 Real DS, but I mainly use it for emulating NES games I already own copies of- something Nintendo isn't doing(not sure why they don't- I play through most NES games on the go now that I can). Sure, I have a few Classic NES series GBA games I can play through the GBA port, but those are only a couple first-party games. I could easily download games for the DS if I wanted to, but it's not like it CAME with the M3. It's up to the person if they seek that stuff out, not the company. I'm going to end my rant here because I really don't want to cross any lines about piracy. I suppose it's easier to go after the companies creating the backup devices than to personally find the people downloading ROM files, but I think if more games were higher quality, people probably wouldn't mind buying them as much.

I've only played Red Version and Ranger. My friend and I made sure to swap Pokemon for that first game, so we ended up getting them all after a lot of work! Those were the days..

That's a good idea. Or if you can find a highly recognizable character with a reading sprite that could be animated in. I've never messed with video really, but I've done a tiny bit of Flash.

Shame I didn't see this sooner...

Sonic Team's name is on it, for whatever reason, even though it's not developed by them. I just hope they're consulting Naka and the other original designers(especially level designers). I just don't want to see a blown up HD Sonic Rush, which is what it kind of looks like right now as far as Sonic's sprite. Sonic Rush was a decent game, but it still didn't feel like a canon Sonic game. I'm a huge fan of the original Sonic game, but I have to say Sonic 3 & Knuckles is amazing. I just played through all three games the other night to kind of freshen up on everything Sonic, and that one still stands out. Not to say I don't love the other 2(and CD game) but S3&K is a masterpiece. I'd like to see them top it. The thing I especially loved about Sonic 3 was the storyline. When things were happening in the story, you didn't see text bubbles or generic animation segments- the sprites on-screen played it out. Things like Knuckles chuckling and hopping on a button, messing with Sonic and Tails throughout the levels, and then the final few times we see Knuckles at Launch Base and Hidden Palace Zone where the big one-on-one showdown between him and Sonic happens are all great parts of the game. It really shows the characters' personality without having to give them annoying voices or cheesy one-liners. The music was also great in that game, as it was in all of the original Sonic games. I'd like to hear some modern tunes on par with those and if possible they should bring in music industry names like they used to. I hope they don't do the whole music re-hash thing that seems to be popular right now. I could go on forever, I'm just a huge Sonic fan, but I'll just stop here.

I've been complaining about it all over their message boards(where they claim they're listening to ideas) and in the info panel when I had the YouTube video up.. hopefully they get the message.

Hah! I like how she sized him up for a second before she did anything. "Yeah... yeah.. I think I can take him!"
