  1. I was always a big fan of the old Game & Watch games. Nothing spectacular but before GameBoy they were fun little versions of classic NES and arcade-style games. I have fond memories of visiting my aunt and cousins in New York every few Christmases as a child and once I arrived, we'd all start on the NES playing while the ones who waited could play the Game & Watch until their turn. I haven't actually owned many handhelds aside from the GameBoy series, though I always coveted the Nomad when it was released. I was a huge Genesis fan and that was like a dream to me. My little group of friends and I were big into card fighting on the Neo Geo Pocket Color there for a while in high school, but other than that I haven't touched much aside from Nintendo portables. Also, I guess we're including Tiger handheld games, which were fun but always lacked a lot of substance. I had a ton of these off and on as they arrived/broke down. I still have some sort of Street Fighter II barcode battler thing tucked away that I found at a flea market that wasn't too terrible. Overall they were okay for quick gaming, but lacked too much for me to care about for long. So I'd have to say my favorite is GameBoy Advance SP and the DS Lite. I've had the most fun with these systems and they've lasted me the longest. I have good memories of buying them and playing with friends, too- Both of these systems I got with my best friend, and he bought the DS Lite for me, which was awesome. Afterwards we'd play them together and talk about the features and games for hours.
  2. Sure, you can say I've got Sonic fever. Still.. I didn't expect to find something like this in the news.

  4. Yeah, the Sonic model they used definitely has some crippling animation problems. I hope they can work that out. I mainly don't like how he takes off or his jumping animation/transitions.
  5. Updates: Someone was naughty and leaked a Sonic 4 gameplay video and 1Up.com/SonicRetro got ahold of it. Here ya go!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPp4Eoq57YY Also, here are a few close-up screen shots: Title Screen Splash Hill Zone Zone Select Showing 4 Zones: Mad Gear? I thought that belonged to Capcom.
  6. I think there also may have been a Tips & Tricks like this. Possibly with X-Men vs. Street Fighter on the cover somewhere. I think I might have it lying around somewhere.. No idea if it's what you're looking for though.
  7. Could it have been on the back of an old NP poster? I've seen this somewhere too, but haven't the foggiest where at.
  8. I'll bump this in hopes that people will start sharing their codes here.

  10. I agree. What the thing is is a rehash of a cheap "Wii-like" Zone 40 system I've seen in bargain stores that boasts 40 no-name games and motion controls. The good thing is, for those who don't already have the means to do so, it does play Genesis carts. Still, for $40 you could just buy a Genesis and some games off eBay or even in a flea market/thrift store, or if you have a Wii just buy the VC games.

  13. More breaking Sonic 4 news comin' at ya from Sonic Retro: http://www.sonicretro.org/2010/02/sonic-4-intro-story/#more-134 Just to note- I don't know whether to believe this story yet or not, as it's supposedly hacked from the website and is poorly written. It also doesn't really reveal anything new, so take it with a grain of salt. Just trying to keep the topic fresh. - Mr. Zero The Sonic 4 Story Also, they've decompiled the Sonic 4 flash website and found a few things possibly of interest: http://www.sonicretro.org/2010/02/additional-material-found-and-removed-from-sonic-4-site/#more-122
  14. I wonder if this was canned once Nintendo found out? Interesting, indeed..
  15. Man, I LOVE Blaster Master! That looks pretty good, especially the top-down portions with Jason. I hope Sunsoft goes the same route Sega is heading now that they're back. Really, any company would be braindead not to cash in on this retro craze.

  17. Why is Mario's Picross on this list, and at #76?? I understand some people might enjoy that game.. but not nearly enough for it to even be mentioned. There are plenty of games from further down on the list that beat that game hands-down. CoD4 Modern Warfare- #14??? Insanely misplaced. This game is nowhere NEAR as good as Super Metroid, Castlevania: SotN, or virtually any game listed after it. Not everyone in the world plays FPS games. Granted, not everyone these days are familiar with older games on PSX and SNES, but still. Nice try, Game Informer.
  18. Wow, this looks pretty epic. I might be swayed to get this when I make a new PC.
  19. So far they're taking a lot of fan ideas and concepts and using them in the game. This is evident if you look over some of the Sega blogs and site, where Sega claims they're trying to listen more closely to the fans. It's about time! I don't like the lanky Sonic as much, either, or the way they have him moving in the preview(mainly the jumping-it looks a little bit choppy). The background in the clip looks pretty nice, but I hope they elaborate the further backgrounds more like in the original games, with lush foliage, mountains, and cities. I'm glad it's only Sonic, but I will miss Tails if he's not in it. It'd be nice to have a two-player game like Sonic 3 where Tails can help you out when you need to fly, backtrack or reach special areas. This could add a lot of fun and replayability to the game. As far as the others, good riddance. A Knuckles cameo would be great though, possibly even with a two player mode with Sonic/Knuckles. This is all probably asking a bit much as far as reprogramming at this point, but I can dream. If you notice on the character countdown, Tails and Knuckles don't make an appearance. Hopefully they are in the game! Before After

  22. No problem, glad to contribute. I enjoy the podcast a lot but I do agree with Jake. Maybe you should post a few short videos here and there if you can, just to show the games in action.
