  1. Easy- Popful Mail, or Mail, from the game Popful Mail which appeared on Sega(Mega)CD and possibly Sega Genesis. I'm surprised no one knew that one.
  2. It is sad that the best Sonic collection was Sonic Jam for the Saturn. It had a nice setup for Sonic & Knuckles included. Even SJ didn't have Sonic CD, though. The collections today are nice, but they have too much crap included other than the Sonic games/books/merch. I could do without the Goo, or whatever that game is, and Robotnik's Mean Bean machine is never a welcome inclusion in my book.
  3. Jake .. you just divulged the whole plot to Karate Kid! Amazing. Amazing. How do you do it? Except at the end that girl leaves him for me. A much more handsome, more skilled karateman. ..yeah right. I wasn't feeling this movie from the beginning. Recreating old movies today is NEVER a good idea. Modern directors, actors and producers have a terrible mindset that's nothing like their 80's counterparts. I hear they're giving this "modern re-do" treatment to Dirty Dancing, also.. They really need to just stop rehashing the old movies because they do a total botch job. Why not just spend the money on making a new movie altogether? I agree that kung fu movies with kids are crap, but some of them have at least some stupid little reason to like them, maybe a cheesiness factor at least. Like, say, Three Ninjas or Surf Ninjas. Terrible movies, but sometimes fun to watch because they're so cheesy. This one seems to have none of that, coupled with the modern arrogance of "this is better than the old movie" that seems to be popular.
  4. What were some of your favorite current-gen games of 2009? BioShock, GhostBusters and Street Fighter IV are a few 360 titles at the top of my personal list, just because I have so much fun with them. For Wii of course there is New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Tiger Woods 2010(yeah, yeah), Mario Kart Wii, A Boy and His Blob, Active Life: Outdoor Challenge, and House of the Dead: Overkill. On DS, I have a few to mention. Scribblenauts is there for sure, and now one I just found, Retro Game Challenge. There are a few others but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
  5. My God, that's beautiful! Very nice collection and display. If I were single and had money to blow, I'd probably end up doing something like this with some of it.
  6. Well, Thor, I thought you did just fine! It's amazing some of the prices tacked onto old systems I come across in some mags. I was just wondering if anyone actually paid that back then. Seems like most people here are pretty frugal, though, so no major losses recorded so far! I've managed to hold onto my old systems throughout the years. They're nothing rare, but they have a big sentimental value to me so I think I'll always set aside some closet space for them. Does anybody look back and regret selling their old systems?
  7. From the album: Mister Zero's Junk Pile

Street Fighter IV in the old school style of SFII Special Champion Edition Arcade CPO. I haven't seen anything like this elsewhere so I decided to make it myself from CPO scans from around the net. Created November/December 2009.
  8. What's the most you(or your parents/relatives) paid for a past system while it was hot? $400 for a Bally Arcade, $2000 for an IBM. Things like that. Looking back on it, how do you feel about the choice now?
  9. I'm finding links to us on quite a few pages. Wikipedia has a few.
  10. I'd like to see him go and take all his creations with him. Hah! That would be the day Nintendo dies. I love Nintendo, but without him they'd be nothing. Just look at them now, licensing a bunch of crappy games trying to make a buck. Sure, the whole active gaming thing caught on, but just who innovated that? I'd like to see him go and get rights to his creations, make his own company with the good programmers from Nintendo, and burn Nintendo and all it's crappy third party franchises like an old Barbie doll.
  11. If it comes out and impresses me, I might buy a copy or two. If the subscriptions are cheap enough and it's a great magazine, count me in. I like the ideas he had with the website going along with the mag. If they could do that in a new, creative way, I'd probably be on board. I'd love to see back issues hosted on the site, but alas, we have a lot of them here anyhow. ;P
  12. I totally agree with that one. Which then reminds me of Symphony of the Night, too.
  13. What are some of your best holiday gaming memories? One of my favorite memories is of the year I was given the Ninja Turtles game for NES. I had wanted it for so long, and my parents told me they weren't getting it so my hopes had been all but dashed. We lived in Virginia at the time and some family were coming to visit for the holiday week. Little did I know, my grandparents had bought the game for me and that's why my parents hadn't. I can still remember opening it up that morning, and I kept the box for a long time until it was all beaten up and I had to throw it away.
  14. So many great tunes out there. I used to compile sound files from different games/systems and put them on CDs back in high school. For NES and SNES I always had Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, series music. Also Double Dragon and TMNT music from NES. I love the rockin' fight tunes of the last two games, nothing like buzzy midi guitar to pump me up! You can't beat the Square SNES games' music either. Another one from PS2 that I loved was the music in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Arabic style beats always seem to hook me. So many others but I don't want to list all of them!
  15. Oh.. I just now checked who posted this review, and it was newsbot! Kind of surprising, given his recent finds. This actually has something to do with video games! That being said, the game sounds a lot more fun after reading this, but also seems really time-consuming.
  16. Finally! This had better make it through. My area is notorious for loud local commercials. Now if they could get a law against catchy jingles into place..
  17. Man, that's a classic! One of the ones you won't see on TV much anymore.
  18. hahah Alex the Kidd. Pseudo-32 bit. This is kind of an anomaly, isn't it? It sports the Sega brand logo and everything. How is that legal?
  19. I had a lot of fun trying to play through one of the later MMX games on PS2 with a friend of mine. They had added a new character to the mix, Axl(another of their GnR references), and he wasn't terrible. The game was either pretty challenging, or badly flawed. Either way, we had a few beers and a good time. Almost beat the game, to boot. I loved MM9. Sure, it's all the old stuff over again, but honestly, that's what I miss. I'm tired of them trying too hard to revamp the series and totally missing the point. Really, I'd like to know how Capcom does their research and development sometimes. Are they interviewing children or longtime players?
  20. Owned! [Feel free to remove my comment, it just had to be said]
  21. Those games were so much fun. I used to dream of playing them back when they had them on import lists in magazine ads. Finally when my friend and I found out about emulation back in 97 I finally got ahold of a rom for it and played it on ZSNES. The only DBZ game comparable to those is the one for PSX- Super Battle 22, or whatever it's called. I'll admit, I had some fun playing through Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on PS2, but nowhere near as great as the SNES and Genesis games. I always felt the Genesis games had the better graphics. When I make lists I try to stray from the usual games that are basically shoo-ins. This is a tough list for me to make for that reason and because I'm constantly finding old gems that I never got to play when I was a kid. I love Donkey Kong Country, I always have a lot of fun playing through it. I'm not sure exactly what it is about that game, but it's very enjoyable. I think if you play far enough into it, you'll probably find a level you like because there seems to be a little something for everyone in there. The controls feel kind of muddy to me sometimes, and that can definitely put a damper on your experience. I played a lot more Sonic than Mario once I got a Sega, but Super Mario World is always king over all of those in my eyes. That game is just so massive and intricate. It's a masterpiece. And that star road stuff, the Gnarly, Tubular, etc... That was so awesome and fun to figure out! The only Sonic that compares to it is Sonic 3 with Sonic & Knuckles added on(the full-game playthrough). Even then, it's not as deep a game as SMW, at least in my eyes.
  22. Awesome! Thanks for sharing this, I've been kinda lax lately on finding news.
  23. Hey, I just glimpsed your site, that's pretty sweet. Nice job.

  24. It seems torrents are getting many votes. I wonder what Philly thinks? I think it would probably be a worthwhile thing to do, and it's cool that some of our uploaders are doing it with their own work. The MU idea is pretty good, too. Like I said before, with torrents it's possible to put every issue into the torrent, and then if someone only wants a few certain issues from it, they can take those as they please and not have to download the whole collection. This to me is pretty convenient. Are .pdfs generally smaller in filesize than .cbrs? I'm wondering because it would be nice to keep a torrent collection small in size for bandwidth reasons. Not to mention people would probably seed it more.
