  1. Haha, now THAT would be an update worth buying! I know what you mean.. it kinda irks me. It's like SFII all over again. I like that they've updated a lot of different things but.. oy. Capcom.

  4. Have you tried using auto color or the color tools in Photoshop to make them white? I checked out a few issues and it's a shame something can't be done. Maybe I'll open one up and try playing with it a little.
  5. I'm on with the third one, too, but it needs some work. More details later, after I look into some Dreamcast stuff.
  6. Man, that's a good movie...! It seems like the college friends I have left are either always up or have some strange schedule that makes it so I never see them. My one friend is constantly awake every night until 5 AM. I know that he plays a few games online somewhere in that timeframe. It doesn't sound very healthy and I wish you the best of luck!
  7. Count_Zero, what did you think of Re-shelled? I wish they'd done better with it.. I also thought that FFT:A2 was excellent. I liked it a lot better than the GBA game and almost as much as the original PS game. There's a lot to it. I really recommend Arkham Asylum. I don't own it yet, but I've played it and it's the Batman game I've always been waiting for. The fighting isn't bad, it just takes a little bit to get used to. It's basically a fighting system made to take on groups of people at once, it's pretty cool, really. I want the Beatles Rock Band REAAALLY bad, the Limited Edition version, with the nice instruments. Too bad it costs as much as a new system.. =/ Recently I've ahold of Muramasa the Demon Blade, Scribblenauts, DDR Hottest Party 2, and Active Life Extreme Challenge.
  8. This is my favorite Sonic game. The levels weren't always laid out the best for speed, but it was a great game, anyhow. I'd like to see an updated version with the original Japanese music in place and an updated sprite for the spin dash. The figure-8 move is to this day my favorite Sonic move, it was so badass looking.
  9. I think I have an Official DC Magazine laying around.. number 3 or something. I'll check the date.
  10. I was stumped in the very beginning, with the teacher and all that. I kinda put the game down after that, but I still have it around. It looks good, though! Probably will end up playing through it sometime.
  11. I haven't had a chance to mess with PS3, so I have no opinion there. It seems they're just phasing out backwards compatibility to make a bit more space. I don't like when they take away backwards compatibility, either. I like to be able to just pop a last-gen game into my system and play it right there. Understandably, quite a few people that play the current-gen systems didn't play the last gen or earlier, but it's nice to have for those who did and aren't really done playing those games. 360 does it's backwards compatibility in a shoddy way, only working with so many original XBOX games. I do like how Wii has the Virtual Console(which has a lot more than just old NES games on it) and, for now, is backwards compatible with the GCN. If I were to buy a PS3, I'd go slim for sure, because it's a humongous system as it is now. Plus, I wasn't that big on the PS2, anyways.
  12. Man, the Game Genie made some of my most played out(or crappy) games playable again(or at all). Even the good ones that I had beaten a few times were like new once I popped this machination of God onto it. Things were best when they had those offbeat codes that you could find in GamePro and eventually online(<3 Code Creators Club). I had a lot of fun with the 'Buzz-Buzz' code on EarthBound that prettymuch opened the game to you. Zelda LttP was pretty sweet too, playing through again with all the best stuff from the beginning, it was like a new game. I was always big on the RPG codes too, especially like in FFIII(SNES) where you could get Terra to use General Leo's skill 'Shock.' Of course, it wasn't licensed, so LOOK OUT! Ooooohhh....! I've never had any problems stemming from it's use so far, and it's been what, 15 years?
  13. Anyone have a DSi? I'm wondering how good any of the DSiWare is. Mainly Oscar in Toyland, it looks like an old-school platformer like Bubsy or Astal.

  15. I played this game FOR-EV-ER. It was my favorite for years. I loved the level progression when you'd play through Sonic 3. Hyper Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were a surprise to me the first time I got them and I loved it. Excellent game! The lock-on was cool, too. Lock-ons/Add-ons turned into something Sega was king at.. lol.
  16. I love this ad and the game is close to my favorite video game ever.
  17. Welcome to Retromags, Stephen! You'll definitely find the issues of Nintendo Power that you're looking for here, this site is full of great scans of your favorite mags and we have an awesome staff who knows their stuff pretty well. Just in case you don't, you can probably just ask and someone will have it ready to scan. I only joined a few months ago and since then I've had a lot of fun here talking about old games with likeminded people, it's a very cool forum.
  18. This is supposed to be a good game. It's one of the games that I always start, but never get far into before I quit for no real reason. This ad always stood out to me.
  19. Mega Man games are one of my favorite series. For a long time they were too hard for me, but around 7th grade I finally got the hang of them with the help of emulation save states. My personal favorites are 1-4, 7-8 and the X1,2 and 3. I was also a big fan of Megaman Legends, a game that at first seemed weird, but on play through, was an excellent mix of Megaman shooting action and RPG elements. Great article, I love the use of pictures. Hopefully atik will pick up a MM game soon!
  20. I know it's been out for quite a while now, and Mother 3 itself even longer, but I think it needs a topic here on Retromags because EarthBound was always a big part of my gaming experiences throughout the 90s. I had been waiting for Mother 3 ever since I beat EarthBound for the first time way back when. I'd like to hear some other's opinions on the game(outside the myriad stuff from Starmen.net forums). Who else here jumped on the chance to play the English translation of Mother 3 done by Starmen.net? I was just wondering what everyone thought of the translation and the game itself. Comparisons to EarthBound/Mother2 and such. I for one loved the music, loved the graphics and characters, loved the battle system but I felt the story felt stunted. I don't like that they didn't go as big as Itoi had planned in the very beginning of Mother 64. I can tell that a lot was cut out and the game felt short. Sure, it's a Gameboy Advance game meant to be played on the go, but that just doesn't justify the cuts and shortness of the game. That's just my opionion though and I'd like to hear some others.
  21. I think that's a good move. It's also possible to get things to play backups with on the DS Lite(both DS and GBA), so that's always something to look into if you like that kind of thing. The DSi doesn't have anything like that yet, I don't believe.

  23. That poor guy. It hurt me to see him with cancer after always being such a strong guy. I'll admit, I liked a lot of his movies, even the girly ones. He rocked SNL, too. Guy was a legend.
