  1. this is like that time i tried smoking Wheaties, only to discover there is a spelling difference.
  2. i am in the Army. yes, Marines was my first choice, but I was 29 when I joined. they told me that they would not take me due to my being older, you know, getting a late start in the whole military thing. plus i am not stacked with muscles, so... i was right out.
  3. Army I am our company Commo. We are support company for a field artillery battalion.
  4. When I am at home, I use Time Warner and have minimal problems. Here in Iraq we have this service that comes in from the city, called Tigris Net... it is expensive if you want a decent plan 128k is $100 for a month. it is not the best plan, but a hundred bucks is my limit. I can still download, though it takes forever.
  5. benjamindlevin, is not actually my real name... my real name is M@ri0fan75, but i like to stay anonymous, so i chose a really geeky screen name. I am currently stationed in Iraq, but reside in Texas (USA) I don't follow a lot of the new gen games. I do own a Wii, but that is due mostly for the promise of accessing the older games. I play emulators all the time... including DosBox. When I bought a PS2, i mostly played Final Fantasy Tactics and Vandal Hearts... both PS1 games. As a matter of fact, I played my original NES for nearly a decade before I even changed that system for a PS1. When I bought a DS, I played Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis... a GBA game... which cost me $100 bucks used off Amazon, then I gave the DS to my kids. My PSP is my iPod... because that's good enough for me. I run Linux not Windows. Because I like the headache that a free OS gives me over the headache that a pay OS gives me. and... thats about the size of it.
  6. yes, i recently had a discussion about our rapidly morphing language. As a compound word videogame would be perfectly aacceptable, especially in this time of the English language (as I am sure other languages, but I have no proof) is changing. Words are getting shorter, correct spelling seems less relevant to simply getting the point across. I do believe that video game is correct, however videogame is also perfectly acceptable "in the parlance of our times" (thanks Lebowski). I mean c'mon, the word pwned was created because of a misspelling... or so the myth goes, and that word is used and abused all over the frikkin place
  7. born in 1975. my dad was/is a total geek and so we had Pong when it came out, we also had an Intellivision, a TRS-80 (for me), a MAC Apple IIe, and a Nintendo. I never upgraded the NES until PS1... so that was almost a decade of straight NES... technically, i was not born during that time though, but definitely suckled that teat for a long time. Now, my dad still has more systems than i do... an XBox, a PS2, a Wii, a PSP and he games on his computer all the time... I have a Wii a PSP and the old Intellivision.
  8. I recently bought "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog" , "Satanik", and " I got a digi version of " Colossus: The Forbin Project' from a friend. umm... thats about it. I went to go see "Up" at the theater with the wife, i am so glad we didnt take the kids to that. The movie was great, but a bit slow for kids. They can watch it when it comes out on DVD.
  9. yes... i didnt find the introduce yourself thread, but i found this one... hey all. found this site while looking for old nintendo powers for an Ultima: Quest of the Avatar walkthrough... i was looking on The Pirate Bay and found some dead torrents that led me here. So frikkin awesome. I only wish I had anything physical that I could scan and share on here.
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-Bit_Theater and whats so great about 8bit Theater is you can go all the way back to episode 001 and start from the very beginning here http://www.nuklearpower.com/2001/03/02/epi...re-going-where/ yea... Sprite Comics!
  11. I guess depending on how epic they really want to make this. if its just for a quick buck, theyll make a shoot em up action flick with monsters and explosions. if they want to take it seriously it has the potential to create a huge following and draw even more attention to the games. Wait and see, wait and see... I asked my buddy here at work and he says there is also planned a Fallout MMO... cool.
  12. Kid Niki... i played that one til my fingers bled. Also, not sure how popular it was at the time, but Rygar... i see they made a re-make of it. There was no way to save your progress, so you had to play all the way straight through... 12 hours... then come Monday we were like, where'd the weekend go? City Connection is another one that I cannot stop playing even to this day. Balloon Fight was a super fun one, I still play that one.
  13. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ravanderende/...8940565/detail/ has any one seen these yet, not sure why, but when i saw the title of the thread i immediately thought of this.
  14. one of my all time favorite games is not on any console... Zork.... however, thats not what you asked... i am some what biased towards the NES, spent so many hours on that thing... Rygar, SMB, Zelda, Kid Niki (man, I had Kid Niki down to an art) i am only now discovering some of these other systems... like Genesis , Neo Geo, and others... thanks to a friend of mine hacking my PSP... now i can port all sorts of emulators and whatnot... so, right now i am playing NES on my PSP... Final Fantasy and lots of City Connection. but, because an intellivision was my first ever system, then that would probably be my choice... i mean, the theme music for SNAFU is just awesome. other intellivision games i played Beauty and the Beast, Dragon Fire, Night Stalker... great, addictive and fun games...
  15. not sure how long theyve had it, i've been in Iraq, but i was recently home on leave and got World of Goo... also saw that they had just put up Majora'sMask... cool stuff. cant wait to get home for good.
