Originally titled Game Player's PC Strategy Guide, the magazine was renamed Game Players PC Entertainment with the January/February 1992 issue. In 1994, the publisher GP Publications (which had taken over the title after the liquidation of Signal Research) was bought by the English group Future Publishing, which wanted to use it as a magazine publication platform in the US. GP Publications became Imagine Media, and PC Entertainment ceased publication at the end of 1993, A large portion of the team from PC Entertainment moved to the US version of PC Gamer when it launched in May 1994.
